If you cannot see the Army Card graphic, check Hasbro's Unit Page for stats and special powers, plus "character biography" and other non-game unit info.

Character Bio: Character Bio Wild and diseased, these large skeletal hunters look horrid. They hunt in a wild pack, and their movement can range from slow and deliberate, to fast and ferocious if they detect your scent. On Marr, they were and still are used as the first assault troops for the Marro Army. Even scarier is their ability to inflict all living things with the deadly Marro Plague. Just being near them can be enough to cause instant damage. Only Soulborgs and other Wulsinu are immune to this plague. Ne-Gok-Sa especially likes the Marrden Hounds; he often travels with a pack of them. (Hasbro)

-Rulings and Clarifications-
  • - MARRDEN PLAGUE : Maximum Wounds Given To A Unit Per Turn
If I have 2 Marrden Hounds next to 1 figure, how many wounds can that figure receive in one turn?
That figure can only receive 1 wound depending on the D20 roll. Marro Plague can only affect a figure once per turn, no matter how many Hounds are adjacent to it. (Hasbro FAQ)

Soulborgs and other Marrden Hounds are immune to plague....worth noting. Also, as large figures these guys are immune to many special abilities.

I find them to be a decent "first wave" sort of unit. Some folks like to use Venocs as cruise missiles, and that works sometimes, but I also like these. They're not reliable, but they do make a fantastic barrier to your opponent's advance. Move them ahead of your army to tie him up and get some free kills on his advancing squaddies.

Another unit to respect.
Immensely.
Not only are these Wulsinu moving at 8 spaces (if they detect the target's sent that far away), but their double-spaced status is the salt in the wound.
The 1-space wide rivers are no real deterrent against these guys. Heck, there could be two rivers close in proximity and these hounds will go wading with ease through both.
I say these things as I've experienced this miserably and there's not much one can do if the Hounds get your figures' scent.

Good to note that though they're large and with the potential to move 8-(11 with road bonus!) spaces at a time, because of their size 4, they're limited in their climbing ability.

Also since they're double spaced, they can engage more figures which will allow more victims to their plague

Not just Marrden Hounds but all Wulsinu are immune. This will come into great use once Swarm of the Marro comes out as there appears to be at least one new squad of Wulsinu in it.

These guys are fun to throw into an all Soulborg army. You can keep them close to your shooters as a frontline defense yet they won't hurt your own figures.

Plus the ability allows the hounds to be next to each other without damaging each other...not exaclty worthless...

I always have trouble placing them in the starting zone, because you have to make sure that they still can get out if you only have 2 movement. Because diseased heroes are only good if you're fighting them.

Yeah. It really hurts when you only are able to move one space away leaving your troops in imminent danger! I remember at one gameday, the tarting zones were outlined with 1 hex high tiles. My opponent had the Hounds right at the edge but for 4 turns wasn't able to move anywhere because he couldn't get them over the sandbags! :P Fortunately he had Q9 so no wounds were inflicted against him. He ended up winning I think.

As mentioned above, they work pretty well with soulborgs, especially Deathreavers and Gladiatrons. With either of the above, and the hounds' own double-spaced nature, you can really tie down areas of the map, and watch as squads shy away from your festering pups.

I'm thinking of trying out these (500 pt.) armies for fun:

2x Hounds
1x Deathreavers
KMA
Q9 (or Taelord for something really quirky)

But since anything works well with KMA, Deathereavers and Q9, I also thought of this:

1x Marrden Hounds
1x Gladiatrons
1x Blastatrons
Raelin
Nilfheim

495 pts.

With this army, you try to lock down as many enemies as you can and then move Raelin in behind. Gladiatrons and the hounds will then be pretty tough to kill. Then have Nilfheim fly in and tear them apart.

Soulborgs and wulisinu are not affected by this marro plauge
Does that mean there will be other maro plauges that effect soulborgs or wulisinu, or is it just a quirk in the wording?

Nothings worse then rolling a 2 in an over crammed starting zone were they haven't moved yet, and having to plague at least 10 figures.
