-And Good Times Were Had By Most
Comic Con this year was good, aside from the lack of 'scape (or even any kind of WotC presence). This was the first time in more than a few years I've bothered to go on Sunday. Usually I'm completely broke by then and I've seen everything so it's really not worth my time. This year was a little different though . . . .
Thursday
I had planned on missing the beginning of the convention to go to a job interview (conveniently only a mile away) but having been offered a promotion on my way out the door Wednesday, I blew it off.* Thursday was pretty cool; we caught the Red panel, I'm going to make a point of seeing this one in theaters even if I have to be that loser that goes by himself. It looks that awesome. We went to dinner at the Rock Bottom** After an awesome chorizo burger and a few three-dollar draughts, we headed back to the convention center for something . . . really everything get's a bit hazy here, though I do...

Dragon the ***** Down a Peg
(These Rocky and Bulwinkle style blog titles are getting much harder to come up with. )
It's no secret that I don't like Raelin. I don't like the way she plays, and I don't like playing against her. She's the Heroscape town bycicle.
What's probably the worst thing about her though, is that all the things that counter her, are either unreliable, or they cost two to three times as much and they, generally, require somewhat specific armies to function at any kind of reasonable efficiency. (Braxas needs a screen, so that's two thirds of your army right there, Cyprien dies to the massed commons that tend to run with Raelin, Deadeye Dan is trash, Laglor needs more Vydar range and a screen to get enough shots in, Shades . . . well, they're unreliable and not very good at much at all {I'd probably build a shade army before trying DeD though}, Syvarris needs a screen to get enough shots in to take her...

So for various reasons up until about 6:30 tonight my computer had never been connected to the internet.
I figured I'd take advantage of dog-sitting for my stepmother to bring my system in and do all the various updating and patching it's missed out on over the last ~9 months. I swear Windows has been updating since 6:55 (Pacific time), that's three and a half hours. This is almost as bad as installing service pack 2 on XP.
I think my head might explode if this doesn't finish up soon . . . .

I know Ullar doesn't have alot going on in the single-general dungeon crawl, but Jotun, really? I don't see that pary making it past the first room with a ranged squad in it ~50% of the time. (In a party vs party scenario you might have something though . . .hmmm . . . party vs party scenario .)

1) One player is playing the adventuring party, and the other covers the local baddies. The party needs to pick up stuff to increase...

Too Many Puppies!
Anubian Wolves. Most of us have them, some of us have alot of them because the 4th are pretty good, and they happen to be one of my favorite units. The recent activity in the Book of the Anubian Wolves has gotten me thinking about whether or not we can make a tournament ready AW army. I feel like they're one of those units that's really pretty good, but the community's just . . . apprehensive about playing them. (Similar to the Ninjas of the North Wind, and a couple other I can't think of at the moment.)
People tend to get to fixated on their "reliance" on the d20. Personally, I think their six move and four defense is where thier real value lies. They're normally going to have either three or four attack, which is pretty darned good with the rest of thier stats. Sure sometimes you'll get that one and lose a turn, other times you'll get the big roll and go nuts (though I've found they happen more often when you don't...
