Classic 510 point kill-em-all (C3V inclusive), Rolling Rumble

I played
280 Aubrien Archers x4
120 Venoc Warlord
100 Haduc
010 Isamu

My goal, obviously, was to have fun. I mean, 14+ to Frenzy has to be hilariously awesome, right? Right.

Game 1 vs MegaSilver on Capuan Arena
240 Venoc Vipers x4
140 Eltahale
120 Venoc Warlord
(no Isamu)

I let him pick the map, so he went for something where he could get to me quickly. Great. Eltahale lead the charge for him, but luckily rolled only 1 skull. Aubriens knocked out Vipers quickly of course. Even though I lost a few Archers (5 total), Eltahale's luck didn't get any better and Archers were able to kill Vipers a lot quicker than the later could kill the former. In the end, though, it was the Frenzy disparity that won me the day. 5 Frenzies to 0. (500 kill points, 80 lost)

Win, 1-0

NHSD Indianapolis 2011

Posted October 22nd, 2011 at 09:59 PM by NecroBlade
In addition to our own local Louisville NHSD, a few of our group managed to get up to Indianapolis for another NHSD celebration. They were playing 420 point General Wars, and I went with my favorite general, .

200 Roman Legionnaires x4
120 Kaemon Awa
100 Marcus Decimus Gallus

For Game 1 I was paired against brownsfan82...a regular at the Louisville tournaments, and someone I've never beaten. Great!

He played
240 Fen Hydra x2
140 Phantom Knights x2
040 Deathreavers

Our map was basically a giant hill in the middle with lava on top. After we placed in starting zones, I noticed the Move glyph was on his side of the hill. 7 Move Hydrae. Awesome. Though I was fighting an uphill battle most of the way, the sheer number of Romans I had eventually punched through one Hydra, losing a few plus Marcus (who took the Healing glyph on low ground after 3 wounds mostly to keep the Hydra from getting...

GenCon 2011 Battle Reports

Updated August 15th, 2011 at 09:09 PM by NecroBlade
I took very brief notes before or after each of my 22 matches at GenCon, so here's my attempt at recording the awesomeness of my gaming experience.

Thursday I played Capture the Flag with a team of Jotun, 10th x3 (last second decision over DCoT x4, Raelin, MBS, Ogre Pulverizer).

Game 1 vs stubobj on Ticalla Sunrise
Dwarves x4, Q10, Marcu

So much for picking Jotun and Co. over DCoT... My dice started out hot and 10th mowed down Dwarves forcing Q10 to come out. And then I couldn't hit him. At all. My opponent took control of Wannok, and Jotun moved to stop him. However, after Q10 blocked 3 skulls (out of 9 dice!), Dwarves killed Jotun in only 2 turns.

Loss, 0-1

Game 2 vs Jeff on Ticalla Sunrise
Braxas, Charos, White Wyrmling

My 10th moves out first and met Braxas mid-field. She gassed 3 in one turn, but went down to WTF in the next. Charos did a heck of a job cleaning

June 2011 Louisville Tournament

Posted June 11th, 2011 at 09:37 PM by NecroBlade
Format: 510 points, 12 starting spaces

My army:
210 Braxas
180 GreenBlackscale Warriors x3
120 Kaemon Awa

Boy did that turn out to be a mistake...

Game 1 vs Craig (who had just learned how to play the night before...)

210 Charos
180 Greenscale Warriors x3
120 Raelin 2.0

A mirror-ish-match, and one that I did not like. Charos could rough up both my heroes while easily shrugging off the 'scales. Not much to say about this one, other than I didn't have a good answer to Charos, especially after he picked up the Scarab of Invulnerability (overkill much?). Braxas did gas Raelin on her first try, but that was as good as this game got for me.

Loss, 0-1

Game 2 vs Nathan

160 Shurrak
120 Torin
100 Sir Denrick
070 Knights of Weston
060 Marro Stingers
(there are a lot of players in the area with smaller/shared collections)

April 2011 Louisville Tournament

Posted April 2nd, 2011 at 09:57 PM by NecroBlade

This month's format was Heat of Battle, 510 points.

I played "The Roman Legion":

250 Roman Legionnaires x5
120 Mogrimm Forgehammer
090 Ne-Gok-Sa
050 Me-Burq-Sa

Game 1 vs Mariah on "If You Can't Take the Heat"
260 Mezzodemon Warmongers x4
120 Black Wyrmling x4
120 Red Wyrmling x4
010 Isamu (I didn't write him down, but I think she had 510 points)

When I saw what I would be facing, I didn't think much of my chances. However, since placement is such a big factor in this format, I was able to give myself a big edge from the setup. The entire Roman Legion formed up across the center of the board, while drakes and demons were forced onto lower ground. Though I started on the lava, I made sure to get everyone off it by the end of the round (except Me-Burq-Sa a couple times, and he took a wound each). In the end only 5 Romans got roasted/poisoned, and besides MBS's burns, Ne-Gok-Sa...
