The fourth bit of tarot

Okay so I didn't get to this during the holiday, but I was out and about with the family. Summer time has a way of keeping me outside. I haven't been able to access the site from work anymore either so that kind of kills the posting time.

Anyway, I will go ahead and introduce you to some more of the cards. If you have questions then by all means feel free to ask. I will try and give you an answer.

A few of you have asked me to reveal your Signifier card. I will do that AFTER I get through the first 22 Major arcana cards. Then you can look back and see the one that is yours.

All of these cards are from Timothy Lantz's Archeon Tarot. I am using these images WITH his permission. If you would like to see more of his outstanding artwork please visit his website.

I left you off with card 10 the wheel of fortune, so now unto card # 11.

Card 11
Justice

Justice is kind of a tricky card. Keywords for Justice would be balance, finality, and sometimes fairness. The sword in the picture to me represents the danger of the "balancing" act and serves as a warning to perhaps really really think about a decision that you are going to make. Be sure the decision is something you can live with, because you will be living with it. I think it is clever that the lady "Justice" is not blindfolded, but instead her eyes are dark. She needs to come into the light to see. Kind of like saying "open your eyes" and figure out how to get balance back in your life.

Card 12
The Hanged Man

The hanged man. This card is pretty creepy. Some guy hanging by his feet for a long long while as two crows stand above him. The hanged man often represents a sacrifice to be made. Not a goat or something, something personal. The hanged man is often a "warning" card that says "stop" you have a decision to make (perhaps two as their are two crows). The sword accents the seriousness of the decision as with justice. The hanged man may mean that you have something that you need to surrender that you are not willing to. It often represents those "hard decisions" that need to be made.

It is not a bad thing though often times surrendering something (especially things that may hurt us) is a good thing and will pay off in the end. Like smoking, that is something that would be a good sacrifice to those that have not quit.

Card 13
Death

Justice, The hanged man, and now Death? Does it get any better? hehe. Well Death is the card that you see in scary movies quite often, and it's meaning is WAYYYY misrepresented in said movies. Getting the Death card does not mean that someone is going to die. In fact there is not a single card in the Tarot deck that says you or someone you know is going to die. It makes for a good movie plot (sometimes), but it just isn't true.

What does death mean then? There is a scary skeleton on it !

Well Death quite simply means change. Yep, you heard me. It means change. It means uncontrollable or immediate change. It is a transformation from one point to another. Change sometimes happens when we don't want it to, but if you learn, adapt, and make yourself better to even the most drastic of changes you will come out stronger because of it.

So Death means "change" not "standby actor number two is going to get ate by the rabid gorilla monster."

Card 14
Temperance

Temperance is a wonderful card to get especially if you are a hippy. Peace, love, and moderation! lol. Yes, it is the card that represents a calm union. The angel getting along with the sheep and tiger. A Tiger that could rip them both apart is calm and comfortable with the angel and sheep. This is a card that says "slow down" and "relax" put yourself together in a calm place. Blend different things together and try and make something really positive.

Card 15
The Devil

Another one of those "movie cards". Some big meanie is out to get you? Nope. Sorry, not what this card means at all. This card does however sometimes represent a over the top lifestyle, temptation, or an obsession. This particular card often means to flick that "devil" of your shoulder and listen to the little angel. Don't let obsessions or possessions rule you. Try and not fall pray to anything to good to be true and stay alert!

I can see at this point that some of the scary movie lovers out there presumptions of "tarot" being shot down. Sorry, I use to think that Tarot was all spooky too. It's not though. Even those scary movie cards are just.. well just not very scary.

Card 16
The Tower

The Tower is another movie card, but it is one of the least memorable. Trust me if you go back and watch those scary movies again they will show this card. The reason is because the meaning of the tower card.

The Tower card means, great loss, serious disappointment, a crisis if you will. Something that is going to require, spiritual, physical, or psychological healing. As with all things though thought time will pass and all things heal (to a degree) the trick is to become stronger from the experience. Let the hole that the burning tower leaves fill up with something new and better.

The card is very eerie and the lady in front is in such disarray. You almost feel her pain and torment. You wonder if it is the tower itself that is her loss, or her pet kitty, or perhaps her brand new ps3? Either way she does possess something. She has her life, and she can rebuild. That is what this card represents.

Okay, and because I don't want to leave you on a downer I will show one more card!

Card 17
The Star

The Star ! The star is that shining light in the sky that shows you the way! The star is not a teacher, but she knows how to guide you there. The Star represents hope, happiness, and clarity!

I think of the star kind of like the shop teacher. He didn't really teach me anything, he just said "don't mess around", and "don't cut your fingers off stupid!" Which is kind of what the Star does. She turns on the lights so you can see were you are going. When she sees you steering off, she won't stop you but she will give you the realization that there is another option.

Okay, and with that I am going to bed.
I hope you enjoyed this bit and I hope I didn't ruin any scary movie plots for you.

Thanks for letting me share another of my hobbies with you all. Take care.

I remember how surprised I was when first reading about the death card. Depending on how it is placed it can often mean a very positive outcome.

I had a friend who was very easy to mess with. One time when he came over I showed him my cards and the book I was using to help understanding the meaning. I asked him if I could practice by reading his fortune. He agreed. What he didn't know was that I had stacked the cards to include just about everything negative possible. I had a hard time keeping from laughing as each card was unveiled and we would together read what that card meant in relationship to the cards around it. Let's just say I had made sure that his future was not very bright!

I found this site that has links to many Tarot decks. There is even a gummy bear Tarot deck!
You can click on any of the decks and then view all of the cards.

That was kind of mean to do to your friend... but it is funny. lol Some people get pretty creeped out about the whole deal. Yes, there are tons of tarot decks to choose from. There are housewife tarots, Hello Kitty tarot, Marvel Super Hero tarot, and yes even Simpsons tarot. lol.

It is quite a collectible hobby if you are into cool artwork and such. I enjoy it.
