The first bit of tarot

Posted June 30th, 2008 at 10:48 PM by bad_calvin
I am not sure where exactally to take this as there is so much to cover about Tarot. It really is an interesting past time that I really enjoy.

Most people would start off with the history of Tarot. I am however not going to do that. As it is debatable and I find it kind of boring anyway.

I am however going to show all of the cards from my favorite tarot deck of all time which is The Archeon Tarot by Timothy Lantz. The deck is "traditional" with it's intent, but breaks the mold in delivery. Some of the tarot folks find the deck to be "dark" with it's imagery. It is a bit on the dark side but to me it is full of bold in your face colors that grab your attention. Timothy Lantz has done artwork for CCG's, books, comics, and more. If you want to learn more about his artowrk I urge you to check out his website stygiandarkness.com I will discuss the first card of the deck more below.

After I go through and show off the Archeon tarot cards I...

Other Hobbies - Tarot are you Curious?

I have not posted to the blog in a while even though I have meant to. My apologies for that. The past couple of months have been total heck for me at work and my free time at home has been spent "outside". I enjoy taking the kids out camping and even more fun.. hiking.

I love moonlit walks through a dense forest with animals scurrying about and no-one but me out in the woods. Some find this sort of activity creepy, but I enjoy it. I spend a lot of my time just walking around in the woods and honestly those walks take priority over any other hobby I may have.

I have been thinking since I have been spending any free moment (which has not been plentiful) I have outside and not with the Scape community I have grown to love so much.... what could I share with them that would not take up a good portion of the day doing?

I would love to kick out some more terrain tutorials, but work has been getting me soooo not in the mood. I can't build...

Terrain in the teens

To continue from the first blog....

I the later part of the 80's I had retired my plastic army men and Indians, and cowboys for a new past time.

Hobby Store Games.

The hobby store in my area had games that were "different" from the games you would purchase at the local chain retailers. It was a whole new world for me, there were books to play historic games, fantasy games, and sci-fi games and I thought "hell yes" this looks like way more fun then stratego! These games are like advanced chess!

The game that caught my attention the most was a game called Battletech, It was in a box, and came with some miniatures and a rulebook and battle mats. I can't recall the price but I think it was around $25 or so. I remember mowing some lawns in my neighborhood to get the money to buy the game. Once I was able to pick it up and get it home I was overwhelmed with excitement, and a little confused by how MANY rules there were...

I am still not 100% sure what I will use the blog here at Heroscapers for, but I suspect it will evolve into something that is suiting of the site and myself. We are after all building a community and a community does not work well if you don't know you neighbors right? So, with that I will give a little bit of info about both my Scaping, and real life nonsense and I will resist the urge to rant and use potty humor on this site as that is what my blogs normally turn into. I will have to count on you the reader to keep me in check and focused.

My passion for the Heroscape "hobby" is more with the terrain then any other aspect. I have been making terrain for over 25 years now (wow, I can't believe I just said that.. man I am old). I guess I will introduce you to the first part of how I got into terrain and model making.

I started when my mother bought me a railroad set, I wasn't content with just the tracks. I wanted a tunnel, and a mountain and I wanted...
