There was screaming in the hallways and children running with swords. Dead bodies littered the entrance way and lobby. I was busy in the back patching scratched knees, bloody fingers and that one oh-so-nasty rose bush torso wound.

Yes, it was our March Break Knight Program for kids.

After our troubles last year we moved to a different venue. It was an underused and mostly empty professional building- there were daily meetings on one floor until 2pm and two therapists with offices in the basement. We were required to keep it as quiet as possible until after 2pm- and then, well, what happened, happened.

We ended each day with a quest where the pages had to explore the building, accomplish objectives, possibly find treasure, and of course battle “bad guys.”
