D&D Heroscape aka Master Set 3

A new master set has been announced for Heroscape. It is fully compatible with standard heroscape but it has the D&D theme attached to it. There will be an official campaign in the set as well as some new rules and new glyphs.

This set was worked on by Jerry, Chris, and I and was playtested by all of the original playtesters. There will be some good new heroscape in this box.

The D&D theme brings something to the table that many heroscapers have tried to incorporate into the game for a long time - A dungeon crawl experience.

There's hope yet then for GI-Joe, Star Wars and LOTR! Any HS is good HS IMO, so I'm very pleased. I had always looked forward to dungeon crawl experience.

I've been thinking of importing Star Wars minis myself. Not sure how the scale compares.

I have imported all my SWM to Heroscape, the scale is... smaller, but like it really matters that much...

The reaction to the news appears mixed, yet mostly positive. With the rumors of Heroscape fading away, you'd think this news would be unanimously positive. But, you really can't please everyone.
The heartbeat of Heroscape still beats...

D&D? No thanks.
D&D is cool, but it's got no home in Valhalla, IMO.
We don't need a whole new universe, we need an expansion on what's already here. The extra marros and omnicrons were a step in the right direction, lets see more races and groups developed, not another 'theme' added.

I read on another site that it was mentioned at Gen Con that a wave will be release along with Master set 3 in the spring. I bet it will be a D&D based wave to give the D&D expansion a soild foundation to start with. Otherwise they would only have 10 total figures to choose from, hardly a big enough number to port D&D fans over. I wonder how long until we start seeing custom equipment glyphs.

And, Zarovichx, Marvel still only has 10 figures to choose from, and it's been around...how long?

I am seriously surprised at the individuals that are not pleased with this merger. The way I see it, ANY 'Scape is good 'Scape. The fact that the D&D license has been implemented only signifies that there is hope for a "dying" game. And when I say "dying", I mean the lack of interest from major retailers. WE, the fans, have kept this game alive. It is because of our consistent interest with the game that WOtC took over and invested in it's continuous existence. In a world where the average teenager thinks anything beyond moving their thumbs is too much work (video games), this is a solid opportunity to keep our game alive. I am saddened to admit that I've met individuals that have NEVER played a game which involved rolling dice. NEVER!
It's truly a shame.
This is a great opportunity for Heroscapers everywhere. Folks, OUR beloved game just merged with D&D! A name that has been around since 1974!
I don't expect the young one's to understand this, but this is truly an honor. Our game has just been put on the "map".
It is time the rest of the gaming community discovered and respected Heroscape.

To other so called "gamers":
Put down the game controllers and pick up some dice. It's time to ROLL!

As for the rest of us:
Embrace the light of opportunity, for we must continue to ROCK!

Keep the game alive, guys.
Keep the game ALIVE!

If it does put Heroscape on the map, I'm all for it. Besides, the dragon looks sweet. And some new rules would be great.

I think TexHex nailed it. Its the attitude we should all have towards Master Set 3. Obviously, as individuals, we can't all be completely excited about it, but we should see it as positive regardless.

I wish it would come sooner than February.
