Week@Hsers July 28th

Posted July 29th, 2012 at 10:18 AM by truth
Welcome back to a new installment of Week@Hsers! This week we are also featuring the last official map to ever be released! So with out further ado, Week@Hsers!

C3G
With the new C3G release, there is now more 'bats' to signal . Commissioner Gordon is a great figure released as the second Super Secret Exclusive! He also serves as a nice addition to both the Lawmen (with his Call For Backup power) and the Vigilante factions (with his Bat Signals power).

Also, C3G has a new wave that was just released to celebrate the release of the highly anticipated movie The Dark Knight Rises! It's hard to decide which was better: the movie or the release!

The mapmaker contest is still accepting entries! There are lots of examples of maps in the thread if you're not sure exactly what C3G is looking for, and lots of maps that...

All this for an Autograph?! (pt II)

Posted July 27th, 2012 at 12:38 PM by Swamper
After a week of no reply from Billy Joel on Facebook, I realized I'd have to try something else. So what did my terribly innovative and clever mind do? I did a google search. It was actually very helpful. I found Joel's fan mail address, and some tips and stuff to optimize your chances of getting a real autograph. Now I just needed something to send to get autographed.

My choice was between two of Joel's albums: Piano Man or The Essential Billy Joel 3.0. Piano Man is a classic, but Essential has around 40 songs compared to Piano Man's 10! I didn't have the money for both, so I went with the Essential album.

It came in the mail a couple of days later, and I got everything ready to send to Mr. Joel. I had a large bubble envelope with his address, and then I had a smaller bubble envelope with my address on it so he could send it back. I wrote him a letter telling him what it was for, and included the album (of course!).

I went back to...

Goin' In Whole Hog

Well met!

I recently broke down and bought the Heroes of Paizum, my first "new" 'scape, not counting some recent purchases of some classic units, and they figured, along with others' Wave 15 units, prominently in the Gang's most recent gathering.

How can I say this? - I'm in.

"Fortunately, the quality of the C3V units released thus far has been pretty high. I am also hopeful that -

Quoting myself from elsewhere:

Redundant Systems seems far better than 4 life, and the same mechanic under different names should lead to a unique squad renaissance.

Take the Kozuke Samurai, and give them Samurai Armor that operated like Redundant Systems, call them what you will. Even 1 point would make a huge difference.

- given the focus on unique squad development in these Army Boxes, the C3V team will 'make my dreams come true.'"

Selling My Collection

Well, I hate to say it, but I'm the latest in a line of Heroscape lovers who, due to changing life circumstances, have to sell their collections. I'm taking inventory of my stuff with some provisional prices below (based on what I've seen on eBay).

I hate the prospect of shipping this stuff, so I'm hoping to sell as much of it to local Colorado 'Scapers as I can. Starting August 10th, I'll be making my way to Seattle, so if there are any 'Scapers between Colorado and Washington state who it would be fairly easy to deliver to, I'd be open to that, too. I'm willing to ship some of this stuff, but only if there are no local buyers, or if the offer is really good (better than what I've listed).

If anybody wants the whole shebang, I've provisionally priced it around $2700, and we can haggle from there. Anyway, here's the collection piece by piece:

Where are the Heroes?

Posted July 23rd, 2012 at 09:08 AM by Swamper
As some of you may know, I am a pretty big fan of comic books, mostly Spider-Man. There's just something about superheroes that inspire me. Here these guys are, putting their personal well-being and happiness behind their want to do something good, to protect those that can't protect themselves. It's a noble, inspiring thing.

So where are the superheroes in real life? I'm sure most of you have heard about the shooting in Aurora, where a man shot many many people while everybody ran. No one stood up and went after him. I saw in the news big men talking about how awful it was. They ran, and left a six year old girl to die. Is this what we have become? A people more concerned with their own welfare than with the welfare of others? Of women and little children? There were a couple of heroes; two guys took bullets for their girlfriends, and I salute them for that. Those men are real heroes.

It's kinda ironic, in a sick way. These people were going...
