Heroscopes for 2012

Posted January 25th, 2012 at 04:22 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
Welcome to the year of the black water dragon! Astrologically it’s supposed to be an unpredictable year, but on the positive side. Find out below what this year has in store for you!

Although some people believe the Mayans predicted a doomsday in 2012, this theory is only true if you are employed by a company that is restructuring, or you’re struggling with your mortgage. In general a dragon year is lucky, unless of course you are one of the unfortunates affected by acid spray special attack.

There is a Ching dynasty prophecy predicting that a wise man will appear in 2012 to make the world prosperous and peaceful in the year of the Black Water Dragon. But wouldn’t a really smart person duck the spotlight?

Some have interpreted Nostradamus’s ramblings and expect a comet or asteroid to strike the earth this year. I think if we all buy backyard trampolines it may save us. I also own stock in a trampoline company.

Well met!

On Friday last (1/20/12), the Gang of Four gathered at my apartment on Roosevelt Island

chas had insisted that we play 2 games, so he could field both the armies he had prepared, and we did so.

The Games.

In the first game, I played

Souldiers' Disciples

180 Q9
170 Drake SotM
150 10th x 2
100 Marcus
600, 12 spaces.

I had, at the last minute, planned to use Taelord instead of Q9, but could not find him within a reasonable amount of time. (More about this later.)

A Taste For Blood

Posted January 19th, 2012 at 09:21 AM by Sylvano the Wasabus
Her name was Lady Skuln, and I was flirting with her. She was sixty points, which is moderately high for a hero in our revised point system. I was very attracted to her. But you see I only had sixty points. When you chose a single figure, you get one attack. When you choose a squad, you get three or four.

She was a Rawren. They're one of our custom factions. You might know her as a Varkaanan Blade Dancer, or a Wolfen of Yllia. In our game these creatures, the Rawrens, are much feared. They have vicious attack stats and good movement, giving them a long reach. Usually their defense is just so-so- for they usually kill and don’t have to deal with defenders. They have a taste for blood.

The Rawren squads are all fairly expensive- too pointy for my meagre sixty winks. So I could only choose from a few lesser heroes. Three actually. The Rawrens don't really have lesser heroes.

Did I mention it was midnight? Well, it probably was. It...

Protecting your investment....

After a few very close calls with drinks on the Heroscape table it became very clear to me that I was going to have to invest in card sleeves to protect my coveted army cards. I did a lot of research into what sleeves would work best and what to avoid and purchased a few to see what I liked best.

Let me start with what I observed and then I will go into what I chose and why.

HouseMouseGames was selling card sleeves and these were touted as the best. One thing that made them the best was thickness and consistency in size. They describe them as:
Protect your Army cards with these heavy-duty protective vinyl sleeves. These sleeves are 5 1/4" x 5 1/4", are 7 mil thick, and fit PERFECTLY. Your cards will NEVER fall out and will not be damaged by constant play. Protect your investment with these inexpensive card protectors. Set of 20 sleeves. $6.95 or roughly $.35 ea.

Ok, $.35ea and I had a little over 500 cards came out to $173.75!!!...
