Ugly-Caco's Avatar

Fellow 'scaper Ugly-Caco has passed on. Here is the link to the tribute thread started by Edwin's (Ugly-Caco's real name) girlfriend that has more information regarding his untimely departure.

Ugly-Caco was a member of this site for almost 4 years and a constant presence in many threads. He loved MarvelScape and was a revered member of the Marvel BoV.

This is a site about a board game. From the outside looking in I assume that people might feel the consistent and prolonged posting on this site, and sites like it, is wasted time by someone who is way too into their hobby. But those people fail to understand the true reason that we spend our time in these online communities. While the website exists virtually, the friendships made here are very real.

Rest in peace Edwin.

All of us here at heroscapers.com will certainly...

Master Set Four

Posted August 4th, 2010 at 12:01 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
These are dark days, for me. Counting down until I am out of work. Avoided by co-workers, sitting at a mostly empty desk, watching the smiling people walk by. Through some bizarre loophole I will not even qualify for any unemployment insurance benefits- the company’s kind of sneaky. I’m fighting that, but time is running out. And I’ve misplaced my bottle of hope.

I’m under a lot of stress and I don’t seem to have control over it. When people tell me I’m taking it well I usually grab them by the throat and throttle them, so I think that means I’m not taking it well. But maybe I’m wrong about that.

Anyway, it has been my pleasure to daydream Master Set Four. It’s a great stress release, and is actually something I’m all excited about. Pity it doesn’t exist.

I wonder if I’ll end up in an asylum, dreaming about ‘Scape. Maybe they’d even let bring my collection. Suddenly that doesn’t sound all that bad- meals provided, laundry...

An Introduction to Kaiyu

Posted August 25th, 2010 at 04:15 PM by Kaiyu
I found this site early this summer looking for people to share some of my ideas with. I rarely play the classic Heroscape anymore, but instead spend a great deal of time using the game's mechanics to do my bidding. My specialty is in custom modifications of the game, and I've tried my hand at some custom figures as well. My first project I've ever worked on was Heroscape: Fog of War, but it wasn't actually put up on this site until recently.

When people ask me how to play Heroscape, I always answer: "However you want."

If anyone remembers me when I started, I posted a poll asking about making a Heroscape RPG. I didn't realize the stigma that the term RPG brought, because most members immediately thought of dungeon crawl D&D style Heroscape RPGs. Truth be told, I hadn't even heard about the Wizard's of the Coast's D&D dungeon RPG that came out with the master set until after I had already started my work on my Heroscape RPG, now...

The Fall of St. Isaac

Posted September 15th, 2010 at 05:23 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
(a battle report from our big game, pictures near the bottom)

St. Isaac is an outpost on the great road that connects the Templar capitol, St. Jerome, and Grok, the Orc capitol.

You might ask why anyone would connect these two places with a road. Well it wasn’t exactly planned that way- the armies built the roads as they surged towards each other.

As the Orc Kingdom began to expand early in the game, the Templars chose to challenge them for the outposts near Grok- hopefully limiting the Orc expansion. It was a gamble, and predictably a fierce war erupted between the Templars and Orcs.

There are two great alliances at work here- The Templars with the two very minor powers of the dwarves and the samurai, against three large powers: The Orcs, the Elves, and the forces of Arc.

Arc is the invention of my nine year old- (Joan is irrelevant to him) a kind of medieval kingdom known for their cavalry...
