Skeletons of Annellintia

Utgar has finally been able to summon some of Cyprien's army to Valhalla. The Skeletons of Annellintia have arrived!
When we first saw these sculpts, we knew exactly what niche they should fill in the Heroscape universe. They needed to be swarming, like Zombies--thus, Undead Legion. But how could Cyprien control them? Did bonding make sense? Probably not, since Cyprien is so powerful by himself. So the designers created the Reanimation mechanic, where destroyed Skeletons have a chance to come back and Cyprien (as well as other units) can become Skeleton factories by using the Necromancy power.

Skull Demon

Next, we have the Skull Demons, a new uncommon hero for Valkrill. Yes, that's right: hero.
Our designers started looking at these sculpts, and, since some of them were only available in the Army Box, we decided to break new ground by using four sculpts for one uncommon Unit. Uncommons need differentiation anyhow, so now we have an uncommon unit where all the work is done for you.
But what about powers for these guys? Well, they look more demonic than undead, so we made them Demons and gave them Frightening Presence to reflect their fearsome appearance. Also, we gave them the ability to boost the melee units of Valkrill's Army, turning them into sergeants in the field.

This week's glyph is the Glyph of Xipta. It's a tricky glyph that forces your opponent to rearrange their Order Markers, adding a new wrinkle to the game of Heroscape.

Next week, we've got a new spellcaster and a female Warlord who wields a magical artifact of Einar, plus a reckless brawler and a slippery rogue.

The figures used for this unit are Confrontation figures from the Rams set. They are available from the Ram Army Box (16 figures), Abysmal Skull Unit Box (4 figures), or Necromancer Skull Unit Box (4 figures). The name of the figures is Skeleton Thralls.

Another excellent job! Multiple sculpts for the uncommon hero is brilliant both for differentiation and ease of purchase.

Great stuff with the Skeletons, guys. The resemble my Skeletal Slashers do much without the clumsiness of markers... I love it!

> At first I was thinking, "Holy cow! These skeletons are going to crush everything, especially with their Necromancy ability. ..."
Also don't forget their Move of 4. That's a limiting factor in a lot of games. So, swarming and scary, but still slow. Like zombies, only different. |

I've done 3 games with Skeletons so far, and they've done very well in each game. Even 2 squads with Cyprien is deadly. However, you've got to be careful of how many you take, because if the Vampire leader dies, you've got a lot of leftover points that just wet down in IGPV. Still, a very potent unit.

Was anybody else expecting the Thrall class for the Skeletons?

@DeathDoom
Thralls are all going to be common heroes, roughly 30 points, and we expect them all to have the Mindless Pack power plus a unique special attack. At least that is the current design philosophy surrounding them. However, the Skeletons do in fact synergize well with Nick Esenwein anyway. |

Big win on the Skeletons! I like them, and so does Mr. Nick Esenwein.
