Well met!

Inspired by a thread started by TheExplodingCheez:

It could be done with non-20-sider attacks being:

Total Offense - Total Defense = Total Number of Wounds Applied,

with 20-sider powers being applied on a per game basis for each result based on the number of possible rolls. For instance, Kee-Mo-Shi would have 2 automatic Mindshackles per game (19 and 20). Cyprien's Chilling Touch would give him 1 automatic application of 6 wounds (20), 2 of 3 wounds (18-19), 2 of 2 wounds, and 3 of 1 wound (13-15). Braxas' Poisonous Acid Breath would give her 13 applications of 1 wound (8+ for squaddies), and 4 automatic kills (17+ for heroes). The same would apply to saves on defense, which would be applied after a non-D20 attack. Thus, the Drow have 6 saves (16-20) useable on any terrain other than Dungeon and Shadow, plus 9 (adding 3 to the roll) additional saves good only on Dungeon tiles, plus 12 (adding 6 to the roll) additional saves good only on Shadow. Also, Vipers would have 5 Frenzies per game (16-20), 6 with the addition of the Venoc Warlord.

Interesting use of 20-sider abilities. I might play a fun game with those 20-sider rules, while still rolling all other dice. Sudema becomes absolutely unstoppable with that. It strengthens Stingers and Marcu, and others with negative d20 abilities.

Interesting thing to think about Kolakoski, thanks for posting this.

That's definitely an interesting idea. However, if Kee-Mo-Shi receives two automatic mindshakles that is not very statistically accurate. That would be assuming she could pull off 20 mindshakle attempts in a single game.

The whole process isn't statistically accurate though, you just get to choose your die roll. For Sir Hawthorne, you would get 19 turns with him before you would finally have to choose the 1 and get Stabbed in the Back. It just gives a limited supply of favorable rolls to each side before it starts slipping.

Different game . . .

Well met!

It's not trying to be statistically accurate. What I could see is cutting the number derived from the 20-sider by [half][third][fourth].

Units like Sudema aren't "unstoppable" when they can be taken out so easily, given their low defense, not to mention the large number of auto-kills (and auto-Mindshackles, etc.).

Games would be blood-baths!
