Another Canadian eh; Welcome! There are many players in the GTA and surrounding area, also some from the Kingston area. Here in Kitchener/Waterloo we are making new converts all the time. Hope you find some more players out there.

You know, I was just thinking, having a thread named "Canada 'Scapers" would be like having a thread named "US 'Scapers".

Canada's a pretty big place, eh.

FIRE MASTER I am guessing you are located some where close to barrie we actually have tourneys in barrie ontario like once a month.

As a group we should start lobbying hasbro to introduce product into canada quicker.

As well we should make hasbro aware that there are enough players to have an event at the upcoming toronto comicon. Seeing as they have monoply risk and scrabble tournaments at the show.

Captain I would think FIRE Master is more towards either Lindsay or Peterborough (maybe not quite that far).
I on the other hand am about 20 minutes from Barrie and would love to attend your tournaments. I've never seen anything in the Barrie area about these events Where are you holding them?

There is definitely enough players. We had I think 20 players at the last Southern Ontario Tourney, but with nicer weather (it snowed heavily that morning) we would have had around 30. With some planning next it could happen its to late to be included in the Gaming Expo this year. that's also a bad weekend for me. I could see 50 or more players coming to that event. Their are some player from the big smoke that only use public transit and can not to our events out side the city.

It should be noted that Fan Expo has gotten outrageously expensive in the last few years. With all the separate entrance fees and so on.

CaptainCanuck

The tournaments are located in the Bayfield mall at the gaming store sir games a lot the tournaments get about 10-15 every time they run. We have one a month. The next one is Sept. no firm date has been set yet. This store actually had wave 7 just a couple days after it came out.

I'm about half way between Peterborough and Toronto (actually, now that I think of it, perhaps my location is not quite accurate. If I remember correctly, I'm a little closer to 1/2 hour-45 mins from Toronto.) According to my dad, I'm roughly a 2 hour drive from Barrie. So I probably couldn't head up that way any old time, but if a big enough event was able to be organized I might be able to go.

August 14th, 2007, 12:21 AM
Clarington (Bowanville)? That would put you about 45 mins from TO and an one hour and half from Barrie. NE would put you around Uxbridge or Port Perry but thats not anywhere near 2 hours from Barrie.

Bowmanville is quite close; I live in Oshawa. I just put my general vicinity because it is a habit I have not to reveal my exact location online. However, I plan on eventually doing trades and whatnot with other people on this site, so my location will be found out anyways.

CaptainCanuck

I play with my family and couple of other scapers met at the oturnies we held, but really I don't get to play that often. I would be interested in setting up a game or two.

CaptainCanuck
August 14th, 2007, 12:40 AM
do you play in a lot of tournies? I play like twice a week for like 4 hrs every time

atmospro
August 14th, 2007, 12:44 AM
No. We've only had 2, but the caliber of play was very strong. I play about once a month if I'm lucky. Seriously I need to play more. Problems is I'm busy and my wife is not a strong player, so when I do play it just for fun. That one of the reasons I did the first tournament to meat some other players.

CaptainCanuck
August 14th, 2007, 12:45 AM

I was reading another thread, and in it, it mentioned the 'Official' Heroscape day. I was thinking that we should not let our fellow scapers down south have all the fun. I think we should see if we can't put something together for those of us in the Great White North.

If you build it they will come.

There are a lot of people on here in the GTA. If you put something together they will come. Start a thread in the event section and get the ball rolling. I know of at least 5 people that will come for sure and there are number of player from TO that only use the TTC so if you can find a place in TO they will come.

CaptainCanuck
August 17th, 2007, 11:44 PM
Even though it would not be great for the #'s if I was going to put the time and effort into it I would have it in the great white north. Just for ease of getting things arranged seeing as I am not from T dot

MrBishop
August 18th, 2007, 08:51 AM
Captain Canuck - I think you would get a good sized turn out as well. I would definetly attend a tournament in Barrie if available (it is under an hour's drive from Toronto in good traffic) and could even pick Atmospro and others up on my way through if necessary.

Glad to hear there is a good sized Heroscape group in Barrie as well as Waterloo!

I'm sure I'd be able to make it, even if it's held in Barrie, rather than Toronto. Get something set up, and I will do whatever I can to come (though, if you do begin to put things together, I think it would be best if this line of discussion was carried over to the Events section).

All right, good luck on that. It also appears that I will be able to show up for your monthly tournament as well. Just a couple questions first:

1. Any fees for entering the tournament?
2. Would it require any pre-registering at all?

If interested, I am planning a tournament in Ann Arbor, MI for National Heroscape Day. One of the prizes will be a Win Chiu Woo with an autographed card by CVN and the rest of the HeroScape Development Team! Send me a pm if interested. There will be a thread under "events" after I work out all the details.

By the way, I think people mean the event thread, not the events section.

I would be more interested in convincing Hasbro to fill the shelves up here with earlier products, especially waves 1-4 and RTTFF. I have found that most new sets are on the shelves here within a month of release, usually a lot sooner. That's soon enough for me but I really want those earlier releases.
In fact if Hasbro.com would ship to Canada all of my wishes would have been answered by now.
I too would love to see HeroScape at the Toronto comicon and some other events.
Canada Scapers Unite! We deserve equal treatment!

CaptainCanuck

I agree that is my major beef with hasbro canada. Even the new stuff takes it s time. Its not like canada is very far from the US. I have finally aquired all the sets minus the bridge set and the gencon exclusives through e-bay. But I agree if we raise enough of a stink maybe we can affect change.

Just thought I would sound off once again for Saskatchewan. (Regina).

If there are enough people within a days drive we could get a regional event planned. I would be willing to take point on that. I have an active group in Regina and if we pull from Saskatoon, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Calgary, & Winnipeg...
...there would be enough for a decent sized event. Not sure on the willingness of others to travel. Just planting the thought!

We are going to run a 450pt RotV draft tournament tomorrow afternoon. I will be supplying all the terrain and figures but there is only space for 8. I would love to see some of you there. Or feel free to come by in the morning with your pre-built 500pt army and we can sit down for a more competetive game.

Toys r Us has quite a bit of non-booster stuff on clearence, so they are likely your best bet for the near future. Otherwise the only other place I could find was Sentry Box which has a decent supply, but they charge full price. Let me know if you find anywhere else to get it.

Yeah, thats a bit of the problem, I met some onliners in the Greater Vancouver area, but that can be an hour drive from the valley. That is a bit of a long drive for a couple games of HS. I would do that drive for an HS event, but not just a couple pick up games.

Something a little more local would be nice.

When abouts do you normally hold the games? Like are they on weekends or during the week? In the morning, afternoon, night?

Do you ever hold any introducing new player to the game kind of events, or are they always strict tournaments?

I think I'd have to see. It's about a 1.5 hour bus/skytrain ride for me to get there. But I'll try and check it out if I can.

Where are you?
I am in Gatineau/Ottawa ? Are there Canada'scapers close ? We cpuld try to arrange some games (even bilingual?)

Hello, I just found this thread and thought to reply. I have been collecting quite a bit of Heroscape in the last year or so (own 213 pieces) -- it is very good gaming fun for the $$ :) -- but I haven't played much yet. :(

it's good to see others are organizing across the country! Now that we've started a new year, maybe a group of players can organize in Ottawa? :)
