View Full Version : Marvel Heroscape Sightings

For all you Chicagoland Heroscapers, Marvel Heroscape is on the shelf at your local Gamer's Paradise (http://www.gamesparadiseinc.com/locations.html). Unfortunately, the price is marked up to $35. Too bad. GP usually does the MSRP. :(
Doesn't look like they received any Wave 7 yet...
I didn't see a Sightings thread for MarvelScape yet so I thought I'd start one. If you see some at a nearby store post the location in this thread.

A friend of mine said he saw it in Northern Cali at a gaming store called Games of Berkeley. They have 1 there for $40.

Looks like WotC is doing a good job of distributing it to the smaller retailers.

Seattle Area - I checked Target, Fred Meyer and TRU today. Nothing but the same old stuff.
Fred Meyer's having a great buy 2 get 1 free - but they never have anything that you want 3 or even two of - tons of agents/gladiators, Raknor's Vision, and Orm's Return. Suck!

I guess this is a store sighting since it sounds like you plan to go there and pick it up. But is Funagain a retail store chain? I thought they primaily just do online ordering/shipping...
Guys, this is not a NON-sightings thread. This is not an online "it arrived at my house" thread.

I believe Funagain has a retail store along w/their website. MacG has always supported their retail venue and posted about their store.

Gary - I have been playing with the game ever since Saturday when I walked into Funagain's air-conditioned game room, walked around the people playing Carcasonne, made my way to the register, and stopped to chat with Nick about Hasbro's weird "clump" of heroscape. I didn't trip over the huge shelf of opened "try them yourself" games, nor did I knock over the hundreds of games all lovingly arranged in the retail part of the store (admittedly smaller than the warehouse but larger than all but one retail game store within 300 miles of my house).
Seriously, Funagain is a big online dealer. But before you start throwing aspersions around, maybe you should visit the place or at least ask someone if it is a retail store as well. I respect your work for the community, but don't act like a doofus.

My apologies. I respect your loyalty to Funagain. I didn't realize they had a retail store(s). I have a similar fondness of Gamers Paradise which is only a small local retail chain that is smart enough to order and shelve the new expansions right away, rather than waiting to unload most of the old expansions first.
I was only being a jerk in order to try to reduce the flood of non-sightings and online-arrival sightings that always plague a "store sightings" thread.

Have fun reading through 9 non-sightings for every 1 sighting.

Well, you've got to admit that when one is engaged in the search one tends to be "pumped" about it, as the kids say, and also in the spirit of the age it's hard to keep one's feeling's "bottled up." So we tend to tell everyone about not just our "victories", but our "defeats" as well. And when one can no longer think of words to put in "quotes", one realizes it's best to stop typing.

Once there's more to report in the way of sightings, I think the non sightings will die down a bit. Right now the non sightings are the product of a product vaccuum.

There's a game store in Bradenton? When did it open? I used to live in Sarasota and never knew that.
I never much liked Bradenton and so tried to avoid going there, but if I'd known there'd been a game shop I would have visited at least a few times.

Wow...42.99 for the game. What a rip-off. I may buy from KB as they seem to be by far the best online source for it right now. I don't know if I want to wait for it to hit retail.

$5 off an order of $40 or more at KBtoys.com
In your shopping cart, click on the "Apply Coupon or Certificate" button and enter code ETNLTR. Valid through: Unknown
$40 minimum excludes video game consoles, gift cards, shipping and taxes. Not valid on previous purchases. Cannot be combined with any other coupon.

Newer Walmart in Peoria, IL: Checked last saturday for Marvel and Wave 7. Nothing. They did have a castle set on clearance for $20. I thought to myself "Self, I bet they're trying to make room for something new. I better buy this so they can get that new stuff out." So I did.
Checked back on Monday---nothing new.
Today (Wed.) they had 3 Marvel sets where the castle set was, with no price yet. Scanned at $24.96. And then there were two....
Target and the older Walmart had nothing new. Haven't checked Kmart 'cuz Wally's cheaper. And TRU had nothing new but did have ALL of the flagbearer's (2 of each).
Kmart in Pekin still has some Wave 4 (soulborg/elves, lawmen/samurai, couple of each) Only one greeks/vipers which I also picked up.

Heck, it's so unknown here that my wife bought two Master Sets at

How sad is that?!
Don't get me wrong, $19.99 over $39.99 is great any given day, but it comes to show you how weak board and dice games are in South Texas.

Has anyone found Marvelscape on-line for a cheaper price than the $28.60 KBtoys and eToys are offering? That price includes shipping. I think I'm going to order it as I haven't seen a better deal.
Anyone know any codes for KB?

I went to my closest local friendly discount warehouse owned by an outfit in Arkansas and saw the Marvelscape sticker. I tracked down someone who worked in some other department because the toy person was hiding from me and asked her if they might have any in the back. She took the sticker and went someplace (underground bunker, perhaps). When she came back she said that three will be delivered that night.
The next morning I go in to find most of the toy shelves half-empty. I track down another employee and he tells me that the shelves won't be stocked until Monday or Tuesday and the item I want is probably buried under a pile of boxes in the back, and they'd have no way of knowing where it even is back there.
I laughed it off and left. But soon I shall have my vengance.

Ok, If you are in the Dallas area the Target right off of NorthWest Highway and Skillman has three as of yesterday (8/10/07). I work at the P1 right by there so I stop by there often. The price is $29.99, funny as Wal-Mart is selling theirs for $24.98 (but then again, Target seems to run a bit more on things). Anywho, there you have it and now you know... They couldn't have been as bad as our day time shift. They wont even say "What can I help you find today?" to any of the customers. They outright ignore them. The customers have to go around looking on their own or try and steal something to get the employees attention.

My store does not reserve shelf space for future items. They simply downsize facings from other games so that it can fit in when they get some in stock. I don't see why other stores would be much different.

champrjk - If you a referring to a Wal-Mart that does that, then they are idiots and should be put down, they are not supposed to do that, ever. What they are doing is attempting to make their store look full even though it isn't, which is a way to get themselves larger bonuses, big time bad, every manager there could get canned for that one.

I'm refering to my TRU that I work at. We have plenty of shelf space and fill it with multiple facings of of the same thing. The only time we do not downsize if they are yellow ticket items. It works fine for my store. However I must add that the store I now work at is pretty messed up.

Lotus and BC,
I've not played Transformers Risk yet but liked what I read in the rules. There are 4 sections on the board that can be "transformed" by playing cards. Two of the sections are circular and a player can open or close access to the sections (by rotating the sections). The other two sections can slide out revealing special sections beneath them that give bonus units to the army controlling that section. The danger in using the sliding sections is that other players can close them on their turn by playing cards and then crush any remaining units in the revealed section. Combat is the same as normal Risk but each army has a leader that can use better dice (d8s) when attacking or defending if they are in that section. The basic concepts of Risk still apply but the cards you draw for winning sections adds an element of surprise and they can be played for various effects. The game pieces are cool looking robots (counts as 1 unit) and tanks (counts as 3 units) and you can play up to 4 players. The leaders can also choose to be in robot or vehicle mode and their armies get different effects depending on the mode chosen. Each leader has a plastic stand that can be flipped showing which mode they are in and the four leaders are Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, Megatron and Barricade.
*I now return you to the regularly scheduled thread...
