I believe that major fan-fic writers should volunteer to write a short story about one. Depending on how many people we get, we can all make one about a different unit. Regestation will last until all of the figures can be found in stores (end of the month) or until everyone has a person to write about. Oh, and Iskra goes with the Rechets. You need to write about both of them.

Who's with me?

VOLUNTEERS:

johnny139 - Cyprien Esenwein
Chimpy - Templar Cavalry
Fallen Templar - Warden 816
Sargent_Drake_8 - Kyntela Gwyn
dragonfire9788 - Iskra Esenwein/Rechets of Bogdan
Wytefang - Isamu
Taelord - Marcu Esenwein
deadeyedan42 - Ashigaru Yari
LordVenoc - Sonya Esenwein

I'm in. The Ashigaru Harbequis. (Did I spell that right?) Actually, when I think about it, I would rather do the Templar Knights. However, I remember quite a demand for those units, so if somebody else wants to write theirs up I will stick with the Ashigaru.

Close enough. ;)

Oh, and if necessary, I'll add Sonya to my story, as she's somewhat... useless, without her man.

So what's the deal with ashigaru? Are they Japanese or Vietnamese? Are they from the same time period as the samurai? They clearly have something in common, since Hatamoto Taro's defense aura thing affects both samurai and ashigaru but I've never heard of the latter till this Heroscape wave came along.

They're pretty much Japanese Infantry from the same era as the Samurai.

Ooooh, thanks :) Figured there had to be some connection, they just struck me as potentially Vietnamese; musta been the hats. But then, a lot of East Asian cultures used those.

Ashigaru were the main body of infantry in Japanese Feudal armies. The Samurai played the role of mounted archers or shock character. Usually Ashigaru were armed with large spears (swords being reserved for the men who could afford them- men of higher birth) and not to many carried sheilds. While they were in a much higher position than the commoners, they were still lower than many other warrior castes. (Such as the Samurai.)
