As dawn breaks over the land, the castle defenders are taken back at the scene arrayed before them on the field of battle.

Under the darkness of early morning, the attacking force has gained the benefit of surprise.

The defenders rush to man the walls.

The first wave of attackers reaches the walls.

The second wave slowly moves forward seeking a weakness in the castle defense.

Several defenders take the fight to the attackers.

Amidst the carnage and mayhem, a lone attacker makes it to the castle wall seemingly unnoticed.

Defenders on the West side of the wall attempt to repulse the attackers. Several smaller robots land on one of the towers.

Our first glimpse of the mastermind behind this nefarious attack, Lord Recluse. He is protected by his personal body guard, Black Scorpion, and is being advised by a strange, blue figure never seen before.

The combat becomes close and deadly.

Thorgrim takes notice of the lone robot near the castle walls and instantly realizes the danger it imposes. He attempts to stop the robot.

His aim is true and fells the robot but is seriously injured by the fall.

Several giant robots breach the west wall.

One robot successfully grabs Raelin from the west tower while the golden, armored warrior known as Sinestro moves forward.

Unknown to Thorgrim, a timer was already set on the fallen, lone robot!

The timer counts to zero and the resulting explosion destroys a section of the Eastern wall and rips one of the gates from its hinges.

Thorgrim's sacrifice was not in vain, though. The position of the fallen robot redirected most of the explosive force upward and even destroyed one giant robot.

Lord Recluse's Advisor starts to move forward toward the front lines.

Sinestro breaches the Western wall.

The battle continues to rage along the entire wall.

The Advisor moves towards the breach in the wall and begans to call on arcane forces from unknown regions.

The one called Sinestro savagely attacks the large robot holding Raelin. He safely pulls Raelin from fallen robot's grasp.

With a flash of blinding light, Sinestro disappears. Gleeful laughter is heard at the last moment before his disappearance.

At the far end of the battlefield, the Airborne Elite attempt to neutralize the attacking forces leader.

One AE miscalculates his jump and lands farther away than planned.

Black Scorpion moves to protecte his liege.

The AE bring the Black Scorpion down but the cost is great! Lord Recluse dispatches the other AE easily. The last remaining AE takes a steady aim on Lord Recluse.

The Advisor finishes his incantation. His summoning pulls more robots from a galaxy far, far away...

Casualties are high on both sides of the conflict. Neither side asks for or gives any quarter.

Having seen too many good men and women fall in this bloody conflict, Sir Dendrick attempts to bring one of the giant robots down singlehandedly.

The Sword of Weston strikes true and disables the giant robot.

The robot falls to the ground with a resounding 'thud' but alas, where is Sir Dendrick? Was he crushed beneath the metallic behemoth? He is nowhere to be found...

But wait! Saylind summoned Dendrick to her at the last moment, rescuing him from certain death. Heroic deeds abound today!

The summoned robots rush the breach followed closely by the Advisor.

Attackers and defenders take heavy casualties in the onslaught.

The Advisor teleports one robot to the tower to finish off the remaining survivors.

Bolstered by Kelda's healing presence, a wounded Syvarris dispatches the lone robot.

The last of the giant robots is disabled by the stalwart defenders. A cheer resounds throughout the castle but it is cut short by the appearance of the second wave.

Drake and Concan rush to attack the second wave.

Concan dispatches a Zettian and moves to intercept Deathwalker 9000. Drake reaches Deathwalker 8000 while Saylind moves down from the tower.

After dodging an attack from DW8000, Drake finishes off the soulborg. Saylind summons Dendrick to Concan's side.

The imposing DW9000 is silenced by the combined attacks of Dendrick and Concan.

Returning to the far side of the battle, the AE shot bounces harmlessly off the armor of Lord Recluse.

Lord Recluse quickly closes the gap between him and the AE.

The AE is dispatched without much effort.

After realizing most of his force has been decimated and that his "trusted" advisor is nowhere to be seen, Lord Recluse decides to practice the better part of valor.

Having successfully manipulated Lord Recluse into attacking the castle, the Advisor is within reach of his goal: the only working soda machine in Valhalla.

After using all the change on the table to purchase as many sodas as possible, he disappears from the conflict.

The defenders have won the day! Who is this mysterious Advisor and where will he resurface? Why is Sinestro interested in Raelin? Why is there only one soda machine in Valhalla? Questions within questions within questions...plans within plans within plans.

So THAT's what you made those Sentinels of different Mark versions for!
What is that see-thru-plastic giant along with them?
And are those small Sentinel figs, too?

This just shows how much more impressive the Mage Knight Castles and props are than HS's, in my disappointed opinion. :(
They just look so good on the board - from what I've seen, the HS castles just don;t look as good on the field.

More info on this great battle hopefully is coming... :!:

Thanks! The Clear Giant is Sinestro (a DC Heroclix Giant Figure) and the small sentinels are Sentinel Troopers from the Heroclix line. I had a huge story with pics on the HQ and will be recreating it here but I need to sort the pics and recollect how it went. And the MK Castle pieces are very nice looking and one of their better products (3d dungeon is another great product.)

Thanks for the comments, everyone! The Lord Recluse figure is from the City of Villians Special Edition package and is the figure with the same name. The set contained the video game and 7 special edition CoH/V characters for Heroclix.
