I was wondering what the best 400-500pt. armies around are. Ones that won multiple tourmants or never seem to be beaten. Ones that people ban from useing.
This one won at least 4 times around here: Krug 120
Izumi 60
Saylind 80
Kelda 80
MarroW 50
Send Krug, bring him back and heal him. Send him out again. Use Marros as mid game killers or to take out range. Izumi guard the kyries.

This one is a no-brainer. Just take the following figures and mix-and-match until you have 400 or 500 points, making sure of course to include Raelin and Q9.
Q9
Raelin
Krav Maga
Death Reavers
4th Mass.
Any army you end up with will be highly unoriginal, but will assure you an easy win. Boring, yes, but lethal.
That's what happens when figures aren't properly play-tested by game designers so that they all remain truly competitive.

Not many people have responded (only 1) but if more did here's one people would have mentioned. It probably won dozens of matchees:
Marcus 100
4thmass x4 280
total: 380

Yeah, that's a pretty common tourney-winning army. Like I said, just mix and match from the best figures list above. It's not terribly exciting.

From the research I've done on this site and via word of mouth, there really aren't any 'sure-fire' perfect armies or even regularly consistent ones. Primarily because maps are different and opposing armies are always different as are game types.
That's the greatest strength of this game, imho, that it's not the same armies winning all the time. Having been part of a CCG where the tourney decks all included nearly the same cards, I'm glad that this is NOT the case with HS. :)

For instance, not one of these armies mentioned here wouldn't get slaughtered more often than not by properly played AE dropping to height advantage in the first round and winning initiative.

IF the person successfully rolled the drop.
Sorry I am currently very upset with the AE/my d20 rolling abilities. I couldn't roll an 11 or higher for the entire game (5 rounds) so I lost without utilizing 110 of my points.

I understand what your saying. I know these armies will get beat but they are still some of the best out there.

Here is the thread for 500 point competitive armies. We should probably keep them all together, right?

These are also 400pts. and are the best armies you have in experience used or were beat by.
P.S. - I can't read the Cave? in your sig.

I suggest the next time you draft AE that you concentrate on rolling a 13 or higher since that is the number you need to drop. (not 11)

Hmm, not sure how effective the AE would be at wiping out Q9 & the Krav, even if they got the drop straightaway. Between Q9's high defense and the Krav's stealth dodge, you'd have to get pretty lucky (luckier than you'd be to make the drop so soon).

OTOH, if you dropped them w/in distance of engaging the Krav and Q9, you have a better chance of killing the Krav in base to base combat and you get to keep Q9 occupied for at least one turn.

For some reason I've had extraordinary luck with getting the AE to drop on the first turn. Seems like I roll a 13+ on the first try more often than not.

I've used an army very similar to that that did some pretty heavy damage to my friend's Zombie-Shade army.
Q9 - 180
Laglor - 110
Nakitas - 120
Crixus - 90

Zombies/Shades would have trouble competing with that kind of range.
