View Full Version : K/H_A criticizes Front-facing double-hex figures

So has anyone else taken the time to think about front-facing double-hex figures such as Dumutef Guard and Major Q9 and the rules for moving double-space figures? I just did and it occurred to me that in a real battle with these figures, Q9 and DG would move like retards....Imagine a ginormous robot, perhaps the most intimidating thing on the field, moving towards you one step at a time, sideways...wtf?
i would die of laughter...

Yeah, I always thought that was kind of funny. That damned Dumutef side-stepping all the way across the board - not all that intimidating.

You are forgetting Krug here.
More seriously, I understand your point K/H but they had to keep the rule for movement simple and, in the same time, do big impressive "front-facing double-hex figures". I prefer that, to a skinny dragon like Mimring  Krug, Demutef and Major Q9 are much more impressive than Mimring on that regard.

I never liked the way the Dumutef sat on its base. He is hard to place when I want to display my figures and try to make the guard actually guard the bridge. I could just see Utgar yelling at the Dumutef asking why he's facing the side of the bridge instead of watching for the enemies on the other side!
Krug is ok. He sits at an angle so he does not face completely forward or sideways and I think he looks good that way =)

LOVE the animation, Malechi!
Can you try a version where they are speeded up like 10 times faster, so they bop back and forth across the image, like Hammer did in his purple parachute pants?

yeah that base figures are insame
look the mimrig didram with his fire ways he got some behind him. wtf is that a secret move fire fart?
and the Dumutef stad he on a brige look down"he you can pass this"
Drake" no problem buddy we are go under it though"
funny fact Dumutef can only stand on the brige entrance . if he gos on i one hex brige he will die.
i think that suck hs is so a easy game and now we must use sightthings .
it seems it is Major Q9 fault, they build him and after hat they saw that he is to strong and make this silly rule

Krug faces far enough front for me. But Dumutef and the Major look silly. I've often found it funny that the Dumutef Guard, who started life as a bridge troll, can't face his enemies on a standard 1" wide bridge.

yeah but look at it this way,
Lets say for instance double faced figs move so that these particular characters (Dumtef,Q9,Krug) could move "forward" instead of "sideways". IE use 2 hexes at a time.
Then this discusion would be such...
How come double space figs like Mimring, Braxas, Subakna, etc haffta move sideways, that is soooo stupid.... :)

personally, i think figures should move the way they face, therefore eliminating any question of "forwards" or "sideways"
IE: Mimring, Charos, Brunak, about 90% of all other double-space figs out there move in 1 row of hexes, because that is the way they are facing. Dumutef Guards, Krug, Q9, and future releases move using 2 rows of hexes, keeping the same movement rules as a single hex figure, but sonce it's 2 fhexes, it'd be more strategic to move them. see what im tryin to say?

Thats exactly what I said! The bridge guard can't look at what he's guarding!

He's actually taking a real good look at what he's guarding. You see each Dumutef is only assigned to guard one side of the bridge. And a little known fact, Dumutefs were actually genetic experiments from some underground lab. They spliced crab DNA with a body builder.

As to the Dumutef Guards, they are VERY realistic. I've employed (for a short time) a couple of "rent-a-cop" guards who didn't look very often at what they're supposed to be guarding either. :)
