Same thing happened last year when they first came out. TRU puts em' online, next thing you know you couldn't order any. Silly TRU.
EDIT: I just noticed the massive amounts of Flag Bearers on e-bay right now. It's anarchy.

There we go with some nice evidence for my argument against eBay scalpers in that other thread- buy them all so that folks who want to use them can't get them, and then sell them back to those same people at a marked up price. Anyone buying on eBay would have bought them direct from TRUS if possible. These scalpers are providing neither goods nor services and are not really contributing to the economy in any productive way.

I called my local TRU and while they have none onsite, there are a bunch at the regional (Richmond, VA) warehouse, with no way to order them to my store. They'll be delivered when they're delivered.
We've also got to figure that the ebay market will eventually be saturated enough that the prices will come down. Right now it seems that you couldn't give away Gladiators and Agents because of their ubiquitous presence.
EDIT: And let's remember... it isn't like these figures are going to revolutionize the way we play HS. For me it's 85% desire to complete my collection and 15% because I'm going to play the buggers. Like I'm really going to draft Acorlah 50 times in the next 3 months?

Hahaha, I got my Acolarh/Laglor order in just in time, then!
Don't count on it -- I ordered the Flagbearers from TRU on-line last fall when they first came out. They sent 2 of them, then finally a third and then finally in January they sent an e-mail cancelling the other two.
I sent Hasbro customer service a rather long e-mail about TRU and asked them not to do exclusives with them for several reasons:
1) poor customer service
2) limited number of stores (for example, I live just west of Indianapolis and there are only 3 TRU within 50 miles of me -- compare to Walmart which has 20 stores within 30 miles of me)

They just shouldn't have them online unless they have the supply for it. Obviously they didn't. Then again, you might luck out Necro.

I don't really want to get into the middle of the Ebay scalpers but, what is the difference from ebay sellers buying product from TRU to sell (and may not make any money) and House Mouse? I'm not negatively talking about anyone, for the record, HouseMouse has been great to us.

Not necessarilly true.. let me check my contacts and I'll get back to you... store managers have some tricks they can do. Key thing is, is the item Authorized at the location (some stores are not allowed to carry certain lines of products). Marketing/shelf space decision. If it is authorized, the manager should be able to push an order.[/quote]

There really is NO difference. Well, maybe ONE big difference. House Mouse is also selling them on ebay. And they get them direct from the manufacturer. So who is worse, the eBay seller, who is selling at whatever the market will bear, but paying retail to get them, or House Mouse, who is paying wholesale and getting whatever the market will bear? I will go with the guy making the least profit.

CreamyPretzel,
I actually wrote that, not Kenjib. Housemouse has to purchase the Flagbearers from TRU not from the distributor. Hence, the reason I posted that question. I posted that in response to Kenjibs post.

OK, it's probably time for HOUSE MOUSE to weigh in on this issue. Just like you, I buy the flag bearers at retail from TRU. And just like you, I pay sales tax (7.75% in California). And just like you, I have to drive a couple hundred miles to round them up. But note that I am NOT selling them on Ebay. The few that I've found go primarily to my international customers at a price of $20.99 each, which is essentially break-even after factoring in sales tax and driving costs. It is not my intent to make a profit on these. Instead, as I mentioned at Xmas, I'm essentially performing a pass-thru service for my international customers who have no other way to get flag bearers except on Ebay. Would any of my "across the pond" customers like to voice their opinions on this issue?

Sorry, Insomnimaniac...my mistake. However, I am not just talking about the flag bearers. She says on eBay she is an authorized Heroscape reseller. That implies that she orders direct, when it come to other Heroscape items that are not exclusives. If she buys everything retail, then re-sells, then she is no different from other eBayers. If she buys direct and sells on eBay, then she has a definite advantage, as well as the ability to see a higher profit margin.
I guess it really doesn't matter. eBay is supposed to be an auction site, and no one holds a gun to anyone's head and makes them buy anything. The people who complain are the ones who weren't quick enough to get into a TRU and get the Flag Bearers.
By the way, I do sell Heroscape items on eBay, with the same name.....creamypretzel. I walked into a TRU in my area last Friday and saw 2 of each Flag Bearer on the shelf. I did NOT buy them all up. I bought 2 Einars....one for me, and one to sell cheaper than anyone else on eBay so that someone who missed out on the TRU website, or has no TRU near them would get a decent deal. I checked all the prices on eBay, and started my "BUY IT NOW" Einar Flag Bearer cheaper. I then continued to drop the price every few hours until it finally sold. I got 22.99 for it. After eBay fees and PayPal fees, and my cost, I profitted 5.85, which helped me pay for the one I kept. I try to sell cheaper than anyone else on eBay when it comes to Heroscape items, because I don't worship money, and because I am just looking to make a few bucks to help my Heroscape habit. Most of what I sell is not new, but used items like terrain or figures of my own. And when I sell something with a BUY IT NOW option, I always try to be the cheapest out there. When I sell at auction, I have no control over the final price, and have sometimes lost money, like the other day when someone got 100 of my grass and rock hexes for 5.75. Oh well.

And by the way.....I was not complaining about House Mouse...I was just stating that there IS a difference between buying retail and reselling at auction, and buying wholesale and reselling at auction.

Didn't mean to upset anyone and here is the exact reason I really didn't want to get involved, but it was a question I had. I don't sell on ebay and my wife has purchased from you (housemouse). But when the statement of "Anyone buying on eBay would have bought them direct from TRUS if possible," quoted from Kenjib, I questioned the difference. Like I said I don't really want to get into the middle of the Ebay scalpers but, what is the difference from ebay sellers buying product from TRU to sell (and may not make any money) and House Mouse? I'm not negatively talking about anyone, for the record, HouseMouse has been great to us.
The underlined is because I remember your post about you saying that you felt embarrassed or upset (something along those lines) that you had to sell them for more because of the search.
I am in no way discrediting you (www.housemousegames.com) or anyone in that matter. Once again, your service to the gaming community is great to those of us fortunate to have a TRU near by or not.
CreamyPretzel,
Once again, it doesn't matter to me if someone sells on ebay or not. Sure the buyer is the one who determines the final price unless it is a "Buy Now" option. Don't apologize, I just didn't want to get Kenjib in trouble because of a statement that I made.

Now ALL the flagbearers are unavailable at ToysRUs.com. I'm not sure it makes that much difference because the Ebay prices have really leveled out since their release. I picked up all five for less than $75 incl. shipping. After tax and shipping it would have been MORE expensive to get them at TRU.com. The only way I could have got them cheaper is through a Bricks and Mortar, and even then not much cheaper. Sporaticus is saved from the repaint!

I am also expecting them to give them away free with the new SotM master sets when they are released (like they did when the flags first came out).

With lava, the thing that still baffles me is the inconsistency in pricing.
My local TRU has lots of lava, at $18.99 each. The next-closest TRU has just a few laval left... and they only charge $14.95.
At least the flagbearers have a consistent price.
