Dofus. Anyone else play this?

Ok, the name is dumb. Dofus. But what a great (not so) little game.

It's a mmorpg, but instead of the normal hack and slash, it's turn based strategy. It's based in a cartoony anime world (think Mana series) with a bunch of different classes. The world is actually quite beautiful (coming from a non-anime guy). I was skeptical at first, but it turns out to be a really fun time sink. I'm not big on mmorpgs, because of the time involved in finding a group, leveling up, searching 8 days for a single bone, and all that, but this one is actually soloable, very much so, depending on the class/build. That was a big thumbs up for me.

It's free to play, and you can do a whole lot in the free to play mode. There's also pay to play (7.00 a month), which I think is totally worth it. I played free to play for like 2 days, then decided I wanted a little bit more out of the game.

Just to soothe any naysayers, this isn't one of those dime a dozen crappy "free" Chinese mmorpgs. This game was started as a senior design program by some French students, and it just sort of took of from there.

I am checking out the site right now, and already I am liking what I see. 1 thing that I see that is definately a good sign is that there is no Cash Shop.

Okay, downloaded and played it for a bit. It's a fun game. I won't be subscribing to it though, MMORPG's aren't my prefered game. I'll play for free though. I'm also on Rosal.

I've joined too. I don't remember which server I'm on, but if I'm not on the Rosal server, I'll start one there (My character is only level 7, so starting over will be no biggie).

I tried playing this a while ago but soon after it downloaded it, my computer got a virus so I assumed I got scammed and deleted it. Am I missing something cool here?

Yeah, I think Rosal is the only open server (or only open to international/non French people).

Brickman, I think you are missing out. From everything I've seen/read, this is a legit company and this game has been going pretty strong since 2005. I don't think the virus came from Dofus.

Side note, if you're like me, you want to know everything about a game if you start playing it, there's the dofus wikia, that has pretty much everything about the game there, include how everything works, all the equipment, explanations of quests, and build guides/critiques. It's really helpful.

What level are you guys?

I just started a new character today, Osma. I'm just lvl 11, so if you guys want to lvl together later, we can.

Fetish and Totem are my chars, just give them a buzz whenever ya'll are on.

My character, Firemaster, is a level 14 Cra. I'm currently repeatedly running through the dungeon trying to get the Snoowolf Fur to be able to get the last piece of the set. In the future, the other 4 characters I will have will likely be a healer, summoner, knight, and assasin.

Quick question JJ, when you get the full membership, does it apply per account, or per character? I assume per account, but I thought I'd make sure.

Per account, up to 5 chars per account.

You'll get better xp doing the preb. chafers at the bottom of the Incaram map.

The Boone set works fairly good. The only piece of equipment I might need would be a bow and an INT, Vitality/Life, or STR ring.

I've started a Osamodas (Or whatever the summoner one is called), named Batria, who is now level 18 as well. Let me tell you, if you like soloing, an Osamodas is the way to go. Just get your Tofu Summoning up to level 4 or 5, and get a couple +Summoning equips and yor good to go.

Also, would any of the rest of you who play this game be interested in a small forum so we can communicate easier?

You can go to the website and register, or when you open the game, there is a register button (which I'm pretty sure takes you to the site anyways).

Yeah, Osmas are fun, I have a lvl 14 one that I goof around on. 24 Alch isn't too shabby, good start. Have you ever read how long it takes to get it much higher, though? Tons of mats and time. I'll probably never have a profession.

Currently, lvl 40 Sadia, lvl 31 Sac, lvl 14 Osma.

I'm fairly patient, so I think I could do with leveling it up more slowly. It's at level 30 now, so I can't level it any more untill I get membership (which I hope to do soon). I'm going to get Farming next, as I want bow carving as my third proffesion and it requires a lot of flax, and a few of the good Alchemy potions take farming items.

I downloaded this the other day, and tooled around a bit. I haven't any time to get into the meat and potatoes of the game yet because Oogiezone and I have been hitting Diablo 2 pretty hard lately.

I've played a couple of hours of this but nothing big. I do like it, but I just really don't have the time. I'm not sure how communication works in the game right yet, but my GF and I share a character (labchick), so if you ever see us, just say hi, ;)

Yeah, once you get into it, it's a pretty good time sink. It's a really deep (as far as how you can build classes/professions and all the stuff there is to do in the game) game (hard to believe with how kiddy it looks).

This is probably my favorite video game since Diablo, and that's saying a lot.

I'm not playing anymore until I get back from GC, but I'm sure I'll see both of you there any way =P
