View Full Version : Are Elite Onyx Viper master sets still available in Walmart?

I would like to get my hands on one but do not want to make the long-drive from Canada to the U.S. if they are no longer in stores.
If anyone knows if they are still available in U.S. Walmarts (especially in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area) it would be much appreciated. :D

They've been sold out online for months. This was a set was not re-orderable. Whatever each store got was it.
You might look in more rural or lower socio-economic areas (that's fancy talk for "the poor side of town"). I was in the Walmart in Athens, TX (population 13,000 and having a lower income per capita than the Dallas area) and saw about 8 of these the weekend before last.
They are out there, you just have to look... or know someone who will hook you up.

There are two Walmarts in the Los Angeles area that I know have two each.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like Buffalo may work (" lower socio-economic areas")! (I apologize to anyone from Buffalo).
I may also try E-Bay and just try to buy the EOV as I do not need to make the trip to the States to buy Master Sets (they have lots of those in Canada) you just can't get the EOV here. Unfortunately, shipping to Canada makes it quite an expensive way to do things

I went to buy another MS at Walmart the other day and they only had non EOV sets on the shelf for $40.xx. I climbed up a bit a looked on top and found 1 dusty MS with the EOVs in them and it rang up at $34. Look around you might get lucky.

Basically, if the specific Walmart in question has them they're available, if it does not, it will never be*.
*Barring a transfer from another store, if that is even possible.
Last month, I was in Reno there are 3 Walmarts within 8 miles of each other (with a 4th coming soon, making a Walmart every 2 miles!). Of those currently open, 2 were sold out and the third had about 12 EOV sets. However, they were the full price so I did not pick any up.

whats up with this Nerak guy.
He was a giveaway at a Toys-R-Us exclusive event and at GenCon roughly a year ago. He's a repaint of the normal Swog Rider figure, but with different powers and twice the cost to draft. Here's his card:

And, Nerak the Glacian Swog Rider no longer appears anywhere on the Hasbro website*. Perhaps Invisibility is a power they neglected to put on the Army Card (when it existed).
* I searched the term Nerak and received "No Matches". I then searched the term Swog and received 53 matches all concerning "... Knights and Swog ...".

IMO, the EOV are a so-so unit. They are a step up from Venocs, but c'mon now really, what isn't? Khosumet?
Nerak is the bomb. Check out the recaps of the gameday at my place from this past Saturday on that thread to see how Nerak can be used effectively in an all Orc Army.
I think when I'm done embarrassing Hahn w/the monks, I'll let my Orcs eat the Tagawa. They'd probably be improved, once they've been passed and reconstituted.
Heh. Hahn and the Tagawa. Heh.

Yes, it does appear that Nerak's PDF is indeed still active. Here's my question to you Nether; did you find that link on the Hasbro website (just now not last year) or was it from a bookmark of your own (from last year)?

I found it in the thread where I posted it the first time, a couple of weeks ago. ;)
But when I found it the first time, to post in the other thread, I googled for "Nerak pdf" its the second one.

For me getting the EOV set was to just get the extra figures to go along with Venoc and the other vipers I had already. The $34 price was a bonus I thought I was paying $40 for it.

The two Walmarts in town have been out of the EOV MS for a very long time. I did not climb the shelves to look, however, I held my son up under the arms and had him look around.

Wait...so these vipers roll 10 defense against range? I thought maximum amount of dice rolled was 9?

Had you seen this ruling somewhere? I don't catch them all, so if you've heard differently let me know, but there's no limit to the amount of dice one can roll from legal bonuses, etc. For example, DW9000 always rolls 10 defense with height advantage as the only bonus.

Apology grudgingly accepted. (Hay, too bad about the Cup going south. I was rooting for the Oilers.) I saw three in the Warsaw Walmart yesterday. They’ve been there for about a month. Perhaps a touch out of your way, but if you’re looking for a nice ride in the country with an EOV bonus at the end, well then, that’s your ticket.

I like the EOVs more than I expected I would. In fact I liked them so much I've been playing alot more with all of the Vipers.
When I was building my stash of terrain it was a perfect excuse to pick up three Master Sets for $100 and get three EOV units (and yes I know they are unique I just have obsessive/compulsive issues about having at least three of everything).

I've had the same experience, markwars. The EOVs somehow have made playing with other types of vipers more interesting and exciting. I just love seeing a whole horde of snakes slithering across the board.

There are at least two auctions running for just the Vipers on eBay. Here are the links:

There's something really ironic about a reverend liking to see a bunch of snakes. :)

I would check the trade thread on this site, I know I and others still have a few sets to trade. I just swapped one for a RTTFF and have about three more sets i will trade for terrain, lava road, tundra sets, whatever.

You mention the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area. They're still to be had in Erie, PA, not that much farther from Canada.
I've only played the EOV a couple times, and actually, I like the unit. The ranged fire protection is a neat twist against opponents who are used to shooting down Venoc Vipers. I think they're a little over-priced at 100 points, but they're a better viper squad than the Armocs.

I'm going to go try and find another EOV (3rd MS in my 3rd week of playing ;) ) set this week. If I do I'll trade the EOVs for another expansion I don't havev.

I wouldn't pay more than about $10 for them online.
Of course I ordered 6 sets from Walmart online when they first went on sale. Three of them were opened immediately. One went to my office. And the other two went to Switzerland to Dragon's house.

Thanks for the information everyone. Just need to decide now if I want to drive around North-Western New York to the Walmart's mentioned that still have them or fork out the cash to buy just the Vipers from someone else and have them mailed.
This forum is great for heroscape info! Thanks to all those who run it and keep it updated. I wish (in some ways anyway) that I lived in the States and could get together with some of you for some games as you seem like quite a nice bunch. You also have/had access to the EOV and Nerak that us Canadians did not, your distribution seems much better (even though there seems to be lots of complaints still at least Americans do not have to rely on Toys'R'Us solely) and, most importantly, you are allowed to enter the sweepstakes and I am not!

If you want i can mail you a set for $15.00 total, which includes shipping charges to canada. If any other heroscapers.com forumer is still in need of the EOV's then i will extend the same offer as i still have about 20 EOV's left. Though i will only ship to Europe, Canada, Australia, and USA states for the flat $15.00 fee. (this is just the EOV squad and card)
Note to Admins. I've read before that you guys are not fond of soliciting on the forumns, I felt this might be allowed, if not delete or what ever you feel needed.

I haven't seen any EOV in a loooooong time. The last time I remember seeing them, I didn't see them. The box had been scavenged of them and left on the shelf. I recall hearing many stories such as this. Its amazing what people will do for a few pieces of plastic.

MrBishop, not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet or not but have you ever thought of just making your own. They are after all just repaints. And you can download the stats. If you’ve got vipers you’ve got EOV just waiting to be. I’m not much of a painter myself, that’s one of the reasons I like HS, and it is nice to have “the real thing,” but gas or shipping. Well, just a thought.

I am new to Heroscape, my son got it for christmas. He wants these onyx vipers and i have decided that I will just make him a set by painting the venoc vipers. I have looked online all day and can't seem to find both sides of the army card. I found one side posted here...but the only images i can find of the other side are on ebay and the image quality is horrible. Any chance that someone here would have a nice quality image of both sides of the army card? Thanks so much!

Haven't seen any EOVs in a while, but EVERYWHERE is stocked with MS that have "Watch and Win" contest things on the front from the original commercials. Would these be REALLY old 1st Editions?
