All right, I have decided to start up my own Marvel customs. I have a few more coming later, but I thought I 'd start my thread off with my first:

Not to be a buzzkill, but I think you might have trouble competing with this one from the barracks!

I'm not worried about competing with anyone. I've seen that version, and I think it's quite good. I don't really care too much if someone already has a card out (Heck, most likely most heroes/villains have at least one custom made by now), I just want to make my own version.
And on that note, in about half an hour I'll have my version of The Thing, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, Spiderman, and Namor posted.

I want to make them, but I want the new Marvel Card Blanks first. I wonder if anyone will bother to make them. :?

Meh, I'll just remake my cards once the blanks come out. Perhaps I will also try and customise the blanks for each character team.

I kinda like using official general cards for my super customs. I like the idea of them easily fitting into the rest of the Heroscape universe. Even with superhero figures, I don't see it as a superhero game - I see it as superheroes joining the greatest battle of all time, aka heroscape proper.

Why does Namor's card say Gorla?
Whoops, Gorla is one of my Heroscape customs who's abilities were inspired by what I though Namor's powers would be. I copy/pasted the abilities from Gorla's card, but I guess I forgot to switch the names. I'll get it fixed in a moment.

All right, here is my first shot at making a custom using the new style templates. My first custom of course, is Spider-Man:

It looks great, but my concern is what your getting for 180 points.
The ability to take away turns and completely block attacks at 9+, I'm thinking at least 50-100 points more...

Here's my try at making Shadow King. I couldn't fit everything on his card, so I made a supplimentary card.

Eh, maybe so. My intention was that any player may 'introduce' him, but it would be a risk whoever recruited him, as there is no way to know which side he will end up taking, and he can easily switch sides after that.
Anyways here's my newest custom, Jean Grey. Hope you like her.

A couple of comments - why can't telekinetic throw affect flying figures? I had mine affect them, as I figured being able to fly doesn't stop you from, essentially, getting shoved mid air by mind beams.
Second, Telekinetic Coccoon is overpowered, IMO. It's like a sure thing version of Rejected by Death, with fewer stipulations to make it work, yet Jean Grey costs significantly less than Thanos (I realize base stats come into play too, but I still think Coccoon is too powerful).

One thing you have to consider with the Cocoon, is that at the very least you have to wait 4 rounds to play her. With rejected by death, there's the possibility you could get him back on the first turn, but even if you don't, you still rolling 3 times per round, possibly more if you have bonding. Another thing to consider is that the time you have to wait is affected by the number of wounds she recieved. Normally with other figures, once you recieve enough wounds to be destroyed, you just remove the wound markers from the card, not caring how many wounds you recieved over and above the figure's life. With Jean Grey, if you had 3 wound markers on her and then recieved an attack that inflicted 5 more wounds, she would have 8 wound markers, meaning 8 rounds before she can be revived. And in a similar situation, if she takes a full powered attack from someone like the Hulk, you could easily be waiting 10+ rounds to get her back, and there is nothing you can do to speed this up.
As for the Telekinetic throw, yeah, I guess you are right. My thinking was that after the figure is thrown and is flying through the air, they could open their wings to avoid damage.

Ah, I didn't catch that part about wounds above and beyond her 4 life. That said, I don't see her often getting 5 wounds over the amount needed to kill her. Let's say she averages 6 wounds per death. That means she'll come back in an average of 6 turns (or two full rounds).
Let's see, Thanos rolls the D20 once per round (discounting bonding/frenzy, etc, that are still being debated right now), and has a 1 in 20 chance each turn, or 5%. So, basically, Thanos is going to, on average, come back from death, once every 20 turns, which is significantly more than 6. Even if you say that frenzy or w/e gives him two chances per Turn Marker, that's still once every 10 turns, on average. Yes, a higher roll makes it so he *could* come back right away (if there's an open space next to an allied fig). Jean Grey *will* come back, and, I'd say, on average, no more than 2 rounds after she's destroyed. And with that extra 120 point differential between her and Thanos, she's going to get a lot more help keeping the games going long enough for her to get the chance to come back than Thanos is.
Just my :2cents: but I think the power is too much for a unit that costs less than Doctor Doom.

You see, that's another thing you are misreading. The wound marker comes off once per round. So if she has 6 wounds on her, she is not coming back for 6 rounds.

As well, here is my version of Carnage:

The only question I have for him is how much should he cost?
IAmBatman
July 18th, 2007, 04:58 PM
Maybe 170-180 points? I'd consider boosting his stats just a tad bit, though - maybe 1 more defense, or one more life, to get him closer to the 200 point range. I think he belongs at about 190-200 points.
Also, I'd change "Crazy" to "Insane" so that it fits with what's on GreyOwl's Left Box list.

It's pretty amazing how close the two Carnage's I've seen are. Not knowing anything about him from comics I would guess both of you nailed him as the cards are similar.
The wording looks perfect. Great job!

I updated my Jean Grey to be a Telepath, use more official wording on her Telekinetic Throw 12, and to use allskull's flying symbol:

Hmm, just thinking in regards to Allskull's Magneto. I'm ok with her not being able to Telekinetic Throw Magneto, and I think she'd still stand up to him pretty well with her normal attack.
Oh, and in the Coccoon power, it should read "Once there are no wound markers" not "Once there is".

All right, here's my new Namor Card:
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r253/Firemaster_M/Marvel%20Customs/NamorCard.png
I know I said I was going to finish my other X-Men, and I will, I just felt like getting Namor done. Now, after Shadowcat has been tried, I will either submit Namor or Xavier to be TNT'd, so while I wait, I think it would be a good idea to get any preliminary type stuff out of the way. So, can any of you see anything obvious that should be changed about Namor or Xavier? Here's my Xavier card so you don't have to go back looking for it:

Just a some typos in Lockheed Fireline SA.
"Range Special. Attack 3. Choose an unoccupied space within (no number) spaces of Shadowcat. Then choose 3 spaces in a straight line from the choosen space. All figures on those spaces who are in line of sight are affected by Lockheed Fireline (wrote Fire Line again) Special Attack. Roll 3 attack dice once for all affected figures. Affected figures roll defense dice seperately. Shawdowcat may not use Lockheed Fireline Special Attack when she is engaged."
The thing in italics is in Mimring's Fireline, but can possibly be eliminated in this version.

Thanks, I guess that will show me for making revisions so late at night. I had considered using the 'in line of sight', but I decided it would be much simpler not to use it, since the line of sight would be from the chosen space, and exactly how would you determine line of sight that way?
