I just picked this up. Anyone try it or play it yet? The rules are fairly simple but with some interesting choices for the players. I also like that the number of rolls it took to get your total is important to determining a winner for a column.

See one of those 8.5 ratings it got on the 'geek? That's my rating, that is.

I'm quite fond of many "family-weight" games - stuff like Pompeii, Around the World in 80 Days, Traumfabrik. I often prefer them to meatier, so-called "gamers' games". Alhambra Dice was one of my favourite family games from last year (along with Pillars of the Earth).

Word of advice, though - play it with four players, emphasize the "fewer rolls = better" aspect, and keep pushing the pace. Played quickly, it's great; play it slowly, analysing every move, with 5 or 6 players, it can REALLY drag.

Though my current favourite dice game is Risk Express. If you like fast dice games, you should love Risk Express. (Is it out yet? I stole one of the designer's production samples!)

I like Alhambra a fair amount, but I have heard bad things about this one.

Dice -vs- the cards? Have not seen this one....Our family has been playing the other version alot, and we enjoy that. Not sure how the dice version would play. I

The biggest complaint I've read is the slow play for a 5/6 player game. I'm gonna try this with my non-gaming family and see how they like it (they really enjoyed Ticket to Ride).
