I completed another bridge, will be adding some finishing touches later with arrows sticking out and maybe some other fine details. But, check it out and let me know what you think. I'm trying to go for the 'damaged by fire and battle' look

Looks great .. maybe throw some string (as rope) across the posts for even more effect.

That looks great. You actually burned that, didn't you?

I was thinking of rope or maybe some small chain. Haven't decided yet. That will be part of the final details. Working on the arrows and spears today.

Yup. I have a small propane torch I use to bring out the grain on wood. My larger projects included a table using torching and staining to give it an antique look. Other projects included an armoire using tea, iron acetate and stain. When it was finished, it looked like an old oak armoire.

The battle damage is really cool. How do you mark off hexes on that thing?

I would say you dont need to since its only 1 space wide. But you could just trace along one of teekays hex mats with a Exacto knife

Wow, looks like Mimring's scorched earth policy went through there.
Gorgeous work.

I'm going to use TeeKay's hexes and mark off the hex space somehow so it won't detract from the overall appearance of the bridge.
Thank you for the compliments, though.

My next project is to somehow build a working portcullis integrating the Castle Door opening. I have some ideas, just working on some drawings and measurement and gathering the materials to build it. I also have an idea for a punji stake trap, still working out the details for that one.

I don't know about a portcullis but I saw a drawbridge by sea_wolf64 in the gallery that might inspire you.
