I have to say, the one greatest game I have ever played for the PSP is Monster Hunter Freedom. Fantastic game, and I wanted to spread the love. So if you have friends with a PSP and you have one, get this game. just do it. Take it from me... not the game, the words. But alas, enough talk from me, please discuss.

I've been considering getting a PSP just for the new Monster Hunter game (athough I'm sure I'd find more uses for the PSP once I got done with the new Monster Hunter).
I played the hell out of the original Monster Hunter for PS2. I never understood why that game didn't just take off. Great graphics, dinosaurs, dragons, making weapons and armor out of dead said dinosaurs and dragons. Not to mention the (to me at least) unique controls, but I guess the controls may have been a turn off to some.

Yea, well, apparently most people were turned away by the level one quests. "Oh it's so boring- I can't see why a human would need nourishment! How stupid! I need food." Sorry, just my take on the subject.
But, yeah, I can't wait till September. New Monster Hunter For the PSP. so awesome...
Sorry bout how late my post was, can't really keep my internet connection up for some reason.

I have had a PSP for more than a year and (here he goes again) I think it is one of the greatest gadgets ever.
Cool portable game player... I just got done racing my buddy at work - Burnout Legends.
But (with a Sony Location Free) I can watch my home directv Tivo anywhere with WiFi...
Home movie player
Ripped movie player - see handbrake

Sony has vastly undermarketed this to adults...

Best game ever? Solitaire. Fast, portable, and you don't need to convince any fiiiiilthy humans to play with you.

Heretics! The best game is clearly Heroscape. Just because this section is titled "Other Games" doesn't disqualify 'scape from being the best :D

Easy, Dick.
HA! I can't call you Dick, even though that's a nickname for Richard.

folks, I do believe that I did mention that this was the best PSP game ever in the first post... That's why I put that in. Of course Heroscape is the best overall game, for it trumps all.

Well, Ravven, based on your praises and the fact that I had a discount anyway, I dropped by Gamestop and picked up Monster Hunter: Freedom. I've about an hour into it (just finished my first fishing quest in the "one star" categories).

Is it any good?

Hate to say it but I'm fairly underwhelmed at this point. It plays like a standard-fare RPG without any story element whatsoever. My choices for weapons are disappointing and it looks like it's going to be a good long time between upgrades to my gear. Is it possible to actually level up your character or am I relegated to tapping the triangle button over and over again for the whole game?

I am sorry if you do not like it, but let me tell you that as soon as you figure out how to combine armor peices and sets to meet the stats you like, fighting enormous dragons, and just really begin to figure the real fun of the game out,; there will be no stopping you from playing that game.
I'll be perfectly honest; at first, I wasn't too sure. But as soon as I felt the rush of fighting the Great Jungle Kut-Ku for the first time, I was instantly hooked (although fighting Kut-Ku isn't gonna get you much of a rush later in-game) and trust me, once you start learning the awesome combos with differing weapons to try those combos, applying the combo types to different wyverns, and knowing the true strength of a greatswords endless combos, the hammers infinitely possible combos..... *voice trails off into the abyss of awesomeness*

Oh, and another thing; if you're not too sure about the entire "no story line" thing, you'll get used to it. I make up my own story line, because I hate it soooo much when an RPG gives your character a stupid story line.
My friends and I play togethor whenever we all get time off and have never gotten bored of doing so. Trust me.

Ah, and yet another thing; what weapon are you using as your starter?
I use greatswords and dualswords, and you can press buttons such as triangle and circle at once for a huge backswipe on the GS, and a huge frenzy move when Demonized in dualswords. Lances are also pretty in-depth. Have you gotten Kokoto farm yet? you should definetly get it. You can upgrade weapons a lot faster if you have that... and when you get to the 2 star quests you can upgrade your mining point to have a big bomb mining thing. (I am pretty sure it's 2 star...)
