Are there any owners of the Xbox (not 360) out there still? We're having a problem finding replacement controllers for the dang thing. We used to get the MadCatz controllers but they aren't making them anymore either. The other brands we're seeing around are cheap-o and crappy. Can anyone recommend a decent brand at a reasonable price? Just want a regular controller with feedback and is non-wireless. I never thought something so basic would be so impossible to find. The button sensitivity was horrible on the last generic we bought and if the Black and White buttons aren't in the traditional location my girlfriend can't reach them with her smaller hands.

The sad thing is - all I need is little rubber insert to fix my old controllers. Stupid thing probably costs 10 cents. I can't find this part. If you have a good source for parts hook me up, please.

Any repair or replacement advice appreciated, thanks.

Since production of the original box stopped with the release of the 360, your best bet is going to be an online source. If you are willing to buy used equipment local pawn shops might be worth checking.

Here's a link to listings on Amazon:

I think I can remember seeing them at Target. I'm sure Gamestop or EB Games has them. I recommend getting the official ones though. They seem to last longer.

I know "pro" gamers go through these things every couple months, so it might be worth finding a site where you can ask this question of them.

I've seen original controllers here and there at game stores and at other places....luckily I have two and rarely use the second, so when my first wears out I'll have a backup. I may buy a blue one if I can find it.

I'd look around on-line (Amazon, etc) and then grab a phone book and start calling anyplace that sold X-Boxes....they may have some gathering dust on a shelf somewhere. Ebay might have new ones, but I wouldn't bet on it....probably be pricey too.

Try the following for starters:
-Gamestop and/or EB Games
-Best Buy
-Circuit City
-Wal-Mart
-Target
-K-Mart
-Sears (the larger ones sometimes have an electronics department that carries games and consoles and I've seen a number of older items sit on the shelf for a loooooong time there before moving...ditto for some other mall department stores)
-KB Toys (highly unlikley but worth a quick check)
-Toys R Us
-FYE (you'd be surprised how many obscure older games and related items they still stock...it's a real grab bag from store to store though)
-BJ's (walk in the store and check the shelves, but find someone with a membership card or use a free trial membership before you buy...don't pay to join as that is money down the toilet...these clubs are the biggest legal rip-off known to man)
-Costco (ditto)
-Sam's Club (ditto)

I wouldn't go that far. I get a discounted membership off of my father's business.

In terms of video games, most of the next-gen games are between $50 and $54 for XBox 360 and PS3 and around $45 for Wii. I just picked up the Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel at Sam's for $119. Everywhere else has it for $150. The savings is around the price of a normal membership. Guitar Hero II for the 360 is $78 at Sam's. It will cost you $90 elsewhere.

They also have insanely priced dvd boxed sets. I just picked up From the Earth to the Moon for $23 there. They have the Highlander series for $17 for each season.

Books are quite cheaper at the price clubs compared to Borders, Walden, or Barnes and Noble.

Gas alone at Sam's is usually four or five cents per gallon cheaper than the surrounding gas stations.

Getting back on subject, I didn't see any XBox controllers at Target or the price clubs. K-Mart may be a good choice considering they do such a poor job of moving old inventroy. Best bet will probably be EB Games or Gamestop.

We've been to all the major department stores and electronics shops that I know of. What really surprised me was that Gamestop and places like Game Crazy had zilch. Nothing used, no third party either. I wasn't too worried about this but after three months gone by, I started to panic already. When we have seen any 3rd party controllers at all, they have been real donkey poop.

I suppose we'll probably end up going through Amazon. It's funny how the controller I was interested in last night is already out of stock. There seem to be two sellers who claim to have actual microsoft S types still.

Django: Yup. "A" button is worn out. The rubber disc underneath is ripped. I blame Ninja Gaiden, The Hulk, The Xmen, The Prince of Persia, and various other troublemakers for this problem. But the sticks are fine, we just have like 3 controllers with worn out A buttons.
