Would you be interested in having 4x6-ft felt game mats with 1.75 inch hexes? Just curious to know people are interested in these.

Comes down to demand vs our cost.
We have a spare, blank print screen in our print studio. Convince us to make this print screen into a hex grid with 1.75 inch hexes.

I would be interested in a few different 4x6 boards with 1.75 inch hexes (Sea Blue, Earth Green and Desert Brown).
Later on I might be interested in a white board for snow maps.

One of your double sided mats (water/sand) in that size would be a great accessory for Heroscape.
I am interested in that. How much would that cost?

I think it'd be nice to have like a 36"x36" water hex mat, but I'd probably never use it, :)

Markwars brought some excellent flat-terrain maps to the last tournament. Have you considered simply printing yours and laminating them? I don't need them to be on fabric, if it's cheaper on paper.

Not sure if Heroscape actually requires a felt game mat as a base, but I was approached by a few Heroscape game players at my local game club about this. They seem to think that a base mat would be nice. They also use the Heroscape terrain tiles for BattleTech gaming -- their games are played out on 6 x 4-ft tables.
Can someone measure a row of ten tiles (preferably in millimeters) and tell me what it comes out as?
Just how long does it take to set up a game of Heroscape when the table used is 6x4-ft?

Yeah, that would be sweet, Hotz. I'm just saying laminated paper because it's stiffer. Felt, on the other hand, would keep stuff from sliding, but that's a pretty minor concern with a board that's all interlocked.

There are advatages and is advantages to every gaming map/mat system. When I planned Star Wars using 25mm scale rebels and stormtrooper miniatures many, many years ago (in a galaxy far, far away) I made my own deck plans of a destroyer and had them laminiated. Trying to get them to lay flat after being rolled up was a pain, but it still worked well, and it didn't matter that people spilled their drinks on it.

GreyONE, before you start pumping these out, let me share my hex making experience with you.
As the guy who created the hex grid for the paper playmats--with the help of the community constantly checking my work--I'd like to have you keep in mind that a HeroScape board is built hex by hex and not a mathematically fixed distance. The plastic hexes are not even the same size and interlock differently with each other. (Build a lake of water tiles surrounded by land tiles and you'll see what I mean.)
Produce your grid on an average distance of hexes as the distortion will become more and more noticable as you go bigger and bigger with your map. A player's map built on a foundation of road tiles will be a different size than a player's map of water tiles. You'll never get it perfect given the nature of the game's design, but I hope this heads-up will be useful.
Yea! Can I have a mat too? :D :D :D

"Yea! Can I have a mat too?"
All depends if this project can be made. I have a friend who plays the game and is gearing up to play Heroscape at our club. He is going to put together several combinations and then get back to me with the measurements.
If it can be done, we may do it.

or you can use the standard conversion... 25.4 ;)
17.5 * 25.4 = 444.5
I have fairly acurate hexes in cad... the hex walls are about 1.1"

Hex felt mats with 1.75 inch hexes are available now. Took longer than expected to have these ready -- life got in the way of my plans.

You should post some pics of how they look with a map set up with them and how they compare in length to normal hexes. That way you wouldn't have to keep describing yourself.

Yes. I have already made two black felt game mats with hexes (1.75 inch and 2 inch hexes on black felt, no stars) for a customer. The price is $35.99 USD (not includings hipping).

A friend on mine promised to show up at our local club soon with his Heroscape setup. I hope to get photos then (hopefully, this will be sooner than later).

This may be a dumb question but is it possible to do a double sided with a different color on each side?
If not I'll probably end up buying 2.
I love the alternate nebula and the deep sea blue.
I want the nebula to work with the theme of a game
I'm creating.

It is possible, but in a limited way:
I have had people order an Earth Green game mat, with a n airbrushed "Sea Green" on the reverse side. This is an Earth Green game mat with blue airbrushed on the reverse side, which gives you a "Sea Green" color. Looks nice, but is not a "Sea Blue" game mat color. Other than that, it is best to order two separate game mats.

What about like Deep Sea Blue one side and a Deep Space with a little blue tint or blue nebula on the reverse? I don't know something like that?

[quote=GreyONE;1141584]The black felt color will dominate making the blue unrecognizable as blue. Best to purchase two mats or choose between the two (Sea Blue or Deep Space). I have made a Sea Blue game mat for a customer using a Navy Blue colored felt, and that worked very well, but alas, it wouldn't work for a Deep Space game mat.
