(HEH on your back...again) You forgetting college or trades school young man?
Best part time job in the whole world Hex
It's pretty good.
Get this: I work at the same school as my wife. My son will graduate from Kindergarten tomorrow and my other two kids will be at the same school.
We live 10 doors down from the campus. Our commute rocks and we have the exact same vacation time as our children (as opposed to one family member working/attending school in a different district where days off are very rarely the same)
I agree it is the best job to have for vacation, but we are paid the whole year each of the 12 months. So part-time? Hardly. Although the pay is not the high end of the scale, with both my wife and I working, we're very comfortable - I've never wanted for a single Heroscape item because money was tight. 8)
Sometimes I think we have all our eggs in one basket, but eh, why be pessimistic? Enjoy what we have.
btw, 2 days left!!!!!!!

The students' last day was today! Tomorrow I close up shop, sign out and I AM DONE. Then it's off for tons of Heroscapin' on Saturday.
That's a great way to get THIS teacher fired up!

they get checks the same at if they were working and then they complain they don't get paid enough for the being off on the summer and holidays while everybody else works.no hard feelings hex but it pisses me off when i see teachers making $55,000 with full benefits complaining they need more money for just standing up and talking all day.

Most teachers would love to make 55k per year (unless you are including college profs too.) I think we need to pay them more. Cut out some of the administrative overhead and give the pay back to the teachers. They do more than just talk all day. Sorry, the pay that teachers and police receive is a big issue for me. These people provide an important service for our communities and should be compensated fairly for it (and sadly they aren't.)

Thank you, sir. :D
Yeah, we get our money over 12 months when in actuality it's just the 9 months spread out in 12 payments.
I enjoy my job. I immensely immensely do. I can bring in my love of art, nature, reading and incorporate into the curriculum. Conferences, administration, and meetings meetings meetings can bring you down, but once school starts, the teacher is in charge and there's no boss looking over your should as you teach.
Django, no hard feelings on your opinion. There are many people that I know - parents of children included - that feel just as you do.
Summer vacation is a big chunk of change for us professionals to reload, prep for the following year, and attend conferences for professional development. I for one need my summer time off just to regroup and refocus.
And I wish I could stand and talk all day. But it's also a tiring taxing job especially with behavior issues and parents of behavior issues.
As stated before. my wife and I are very happy with our income. But if someone wants to give us a raise? Who am I to deny it? :D

I think your biggest problem Hex is that parents no longer want to be the bad guy in raising kids, they expect you to instill morals and to raise their children right so they can either A. be buddies with their kids, B. not have to deal with their kids. Quality of parenting has been steadily declining. I have five of the little chowder heads :) They will not be raised by a school system nor will the school system have to beg me to deal with them. I love my kids but we are not friends, I am their father, that is much more important. We can be friends later.
