hey everyone, i searched but couldnt find anything on this. We've got a lot of games out for xbox and xbox360, and I would like to know which one you think is the best and why?

the reason being, I just got an xbox 360 and would like to know what games to get, considering Ive never had an xbox either.

so is Gears of War the new thing?

Or does Halo 2 from xbox still reign supreme?

(if possible, please give me some more of your favorites just so I have more ideas of which to get this afternoon)

Gears Of War All The Way!!!!! :headbang:

I'm a big Halo fan and don't really enjoy Gears. I've been playing it a bit recently and I just can't get into it. But that's me, I think. I prefer things more on the fast side, and Gears seems clunky.

Don't get me wrong, I love cutting dudes in half with a chainsaw and annihilating them with a laser from space (!).

Anyway, my Halo needs led me to buy Crackdown and I haven't regretted that purchase at all. That game is really fun. It's also easy to play a bit and turn it off. That's important for me but it might not be for you.

If you need something to suck you in for hours, days, weeks, or years, look up Oblivion.

For time spent on it, my top game so far was probably PGR3 (or whatever number they're up to these days). Rainbow Six got pretty close to it. Gears of War was meant to be played co-op over Live, though it's a bit on the short side.

ya, the games I have my eye on are

halo 2
gears of war
lost planet
oblivion
crackdown

those are all of the games I had in my mind before i posted this, and im not surprised to see almost all of them have been mentioned here. :D I also want to know some other games that might be worth thinking about.

Ah, Co-op. I forgot about that...it was fun to play Gears that way. I'll have to do some more of that.

I really loved Oblivion, that game is crazy fun. Crackdown, Gears of War, ANY Tom Clancy game, they're all pretty fun. Dead Rising is a blast, but gets old after 7 or 8 times beating it.

Plus, if you have XBL, the arcade is AWESOME! I play Castlevania Symphony of the Night like it's going out of style, cause it did, 10 freakin' years ago! It is still one of my all time favorite games.

But all in all, there are some great choices out there, and I will be playing GoW on-line for many months to come, because it is just plain fun!

Well... it all depends on your preferred style of gaming. If you like first-person shooters and like tactics over reflexes... then I've seen no better than Rainbow Six: Vegas. If you like puzzle solving... I really like the new Tomb Raider Legend game. If you want a game that'll scare the living **** out of you... then nab FEAR (seriously, it will make it hard to leave the lights off).
Gears of War is a really gritty, nicely engined game, but single-player got a little old to me after a short while. Crackdown is a lot of fun, but has little to no replay value whatsoever. I didn't get to play anything past the demo for Dead Rising, but heard the same thing that Ted said about it. Oblivion is a very, very time-consuming game, from what I have seen. It has a lot of nice, juicy story to it... but it looks like a looooooong game. Lost Planet... not sure. I played the demo shortly, and was not impressed too much. First and foremost was the way the retical was set up. It moves around your screen instead of being fixed in the middle, like most shooters.

Also, like Ted, I highly recommend checking out the Arcade... lots of fun to be had there!

IMO, my top 5 360 games.

Lost Planet:

This game is a fun and solid game. The graphics are well done and the enemies never stop, :D

The XBOX Live part of this game though is the BEST. With the latest patch it is now much easier to avoid, mute, rate and overall learn who you do, and who you don't want to play with. The Live version requires some skill, but not so much that you can't enjoy it.

Guitar Hero 2:

This is just addictive, and fun, nuff said, :D

Oblivion:

If you want to spend Hours upon Hours just running around killing and collecting things, then this is your game, :)

Armored Core 4:

If you like to think and plan every move, this is your game. You play the part of a Merc in a post Capitalistic Government. Your job, get paid to kill other Mechs.

This game requires skill and thought, you can't just rush in, you have to think about what weapons to use, and when.

Gears Of War

The story is pretty poor, and the cover control is hard to adjust to, but it's got enough blood to make up for that.

Live can be fun, but like all Live game, thereis bound to be a few Hahns in the room, so just be cautious, :?

ok thanks for the reviews guys. It helped a lot. I have another question though, I just signed up for xbox live, and when i tryto log into it on halo 2, it says

"You have an important message from xbox live. Would you like to go to account management in the xbox dashboard?"

and you get 2 choices, start account management, or continue offline.

I dont want to continue offline, but whenever I go to account management, theres nothing there tht stciks out, and when I check my messages, theres no message there (or at least i dont think so)

did this happen to you? How do I get passed it? thanks :)

I've had Oblivion for about a year and half and I am still having fun playing!!!

Viva Pinata is another open ended game that is tons of fun.

GOW, COD, GRAW, all great.

And just about anything on Arcade:

- Gauntlet
- Castlevania
- Paperboy
- Defender
- Joust
- and the upcoming Settlers of Catan!!!!!!

It sounds like you haven't finished setting up your live account.

- and the upcoming Settlers of Catan!!!!!!

The only other game besides HALO 3 that I have been actually waiting for. I can't wait to become a road-hog on LIVE,

Has anyone picked up the XBox 360 steering wheel and played any of the racing games? Forza 2 is coming out which is supposed to be pretty sweet.

Catan will be a definite buy. Oh and the Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion may seem like its a little expensive (30 bucks) but its worth every penny!!!!

Send us all friend invites... Cupid and I used to play Gears a lot, but he's too busy making his fancy customs these days......

He's an avid Halo player too if I'm not mistaken..

The only game that I like to play on the 360 is the arcade game Small Arms. It's more fun than any of the other 360 games I have played. I'm just more of a Wii person.

THAT'S what you'll buy the 360 for? Out of all the great games; Dead Rising; Halo; Gears of War... and you'll buy it for a Naruto game?

I stopped playing GoW because I didn't like the patch, :(

I do play HALO 2 a lot more these days, but mostly I team kill on Lost Planet, :D

I love Worms, Uno, and Jewel Quest, :D

When Catan comes out though, I can see myself spending many a night saying "Got Wood, for Sheep"? :)

Gears Of War is deifinitely a great game!!! Oblivion is great if u have a need ofr some rpg playing. Halo 2 was awesome but since i have played Gears so much i cant get used to the controls on it again. Halo 3 is coming out soon so be lookin out for that!!! Also there's a lot of awesome arcade games and classics u can buy on the marketplace and they're cheaper than normal.
