For the columns I took the excellent idea of painting some wedding cake supports.

I've got some other stuff I made but this is the best so far. More is on the way.

Those pillars are probably the best done ones I have ever seen. And that skull is amazing. How do you get up it?

It's four levels from the ground to the two hex spot in the rear and then four more from there to the top of the skull.

How did you paint the pillars, they seem almost as though they have a heavy texture on them and look great.

i used some textured paints I found at Michael's. It's called Decoart Sandstone and comes in two different colors (that I found) light grey and tan. It has different colored specks in it and sand so it has a lot of texture. It's water based so it was easy to mix up some different shades and then put a bunch of different colors on the pillars. For the tops I glued a piece of foamcore down and then ripped off the top layer of paper. It's easy to scrape and dig at the foam to get a "ruined" look. Then I painted that.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I'm not much of a bridge builder so if anyone wants to swap a custom made bridge for a skull hill like this let me know.

Thanks for the info on the paints, I am going to check that out, they sound really neat. The foam core board with the top cut off was a great idea as well. Thanks for sharing!

The giant who that skull used to belong to would have made Jotun tremble.

Awesome work.

I've been making a lot of stuff. I found a really cool bonsai tree at Petco, too.

Made this shrine from wire, paper mache and some left over bits and pieces.

Got these wild heads on ebay (i'll post the url for the guy's shop later) and then painted them.

Made this from plaster, paper mache and wire frame.

Another view. The thing in the foreground was made from crayola's modelling magic clay so it's incredibly light AND IT BOUNCES!

Awesome. I love how the map it mostly flat, but all the custom stuff makes it look so much cooler and very battle worthy.

Wow. That is a beautiful layout. Really has a unique look and feel, but integrates well with the standard HS terrain.

Is that a Tama floor tom by any chance? I think we have the same set and color!

Give that man a free drum! it is indeed. It's part of a multi-colered kit played by my son.

The tree in the middle is a fish tank ornament right? Thats cool. Maybe I'll go to my local pet store sometime for some terrain stuff.

Yeah I agree that battle field looks battle worthy. It'll be awsome for melee units chasing around ranged units.

Yeah, it's an aquarium decoration. It was about $6 at petco. I also picked up two smaller ones.

Good stuff. Next time November 1st comes (when all the Halloween stuff is on sale) I think I may pick a skull up and give this a try myself.
