Great Job.

Rankar's and Tundra to follow?

I keep checking the Hasbro website once or twice a week (it's been soooo long since an update perhaps a few fewer checks these days - even the Poll hasn't changed in two/three weeks!) but only recieve the standard "Coming Soon" response. Once they're up there, you'll have the PDFs here!

Personally, I would be very, very happy if they ever put up the previously released figure's missing bios. Namely, the Elite Onyx Vipers and Nerak! I keep checking 00, 40 and 71 to see if they show up, but as with info on any of the Wave 5 pages ... "We got nuttin' here."

A couple months ago I asked Hasbro about the missing Bios and receieved this response ...

Customer (Malechi)

Will there ever be biographies for the Elite Onyx Vipers and Nerak the Glacian Swog Rider on the official heroscape.com website?

I had originally assumed since these were exclusives that perhaps they would not receive biographies. However, the Obsidian Guard (Toys R Us Volcarren Wasteland exclusive), have received a biography on the Hasbro website. I am at a loss to explain the exclusion of the Elite Onyx Vipers (WalMart Rise of the Valkyrie Master Set exclusive) and Nerak the Glacian Swog Rider (GenCon/Toys R US freebie exclusive) biographies.

Hi Malechi,

Thank you for contacting Hasbro with your question on Heroscape! Perhaps I can help.

I'm not aware of the reason why the Elite Onyx Vipers & Nerak are not on the character pages (with bios attached), but I will certainly pass this onto our web team.

I hope that answers your question(s). If there is anything else I can help you with, please visit www.hasbro.com or respond to this e-mail.

Why do they say this when they know they can't?

Every Hasbro response starts that way, it is completely noncommittal so if they don't answer the question (as they didn't above), it says "Hey, I tried. I can't help it if you want more than what I give you." And, they do it in a big snugly corporate manner!

I noticed that Hasbro changed one of the Bios recently.

The name of the traitor that betrayed Sir Denrick and his Knights of Weston has been changed from Sir Cristopher to Sir Hawthorne for some reason.
Perhaps we'll be seeing him as an "official" character. :?:

June 12th, 2006, 04:29 PM
Good catch! As I had already copied this info month's ago, I would never have seen this change of information! I have corrected the PDF with the name of Sir Denrick's nemisis from Sir Christopher to the new identity of the black knight Sir Hawthorne and made note of the change in the first post of this thread.

If anyone notices changes/corrections/deletions in any Bios at Hasbro let me know so I can update the material ASAP.

When I first printed out Orm's Return bios I noticed Brunaks Blood Hungry SA description had some spelling mistakes.

Apparently, Brunak takes his bloody special attack only in the country of Hungary!

I've come across other typos, but I can't recall them. I'll let you know.

Thanks, I will get to that. But it won't help with the website. If you get your info there, Brunak's Special Powers will only work while in a small Central European nation ...

Hmmm, Blood Hungry Attack works as a Blood Hungary Attack according to Hasbro. Boarding Hungary is Romania. Romania was once called Transylvania. Transylvania is the home of one Vlad the Impaler. Vlad the Impaler is better known as Dracula. Dracula definitely has a Blood Hungry Attack. Coincidence? I don't think so!

Malechi do you have the storyline info from the packaging somewhere? I have most of it already typed and saved. If you're not sure what I'm talking about here's the info in question using Wave 1 as an example:

Heroes of Bleakwoode
Add the power of unique heroes to your Army! The is getting tougher. New heroes are needed to lead the armies to victory. Jandar, Ullar, Utgar and Einar are seeking reinforcements. These unique heroes bring special powers and abilities to your armies. The Kyrie’s ability to fly enables them to move over obstacles including water, ruins, and their enemies. The Venoc Warlord can slither through water without stopping, while the human and orc heroes add strength to their comrades.

The IX Roman Legion
Add the power of Romans to your Heroscape Army. Einar in his quest to help Utgar control the wellsprings, has summoned additional warriors to fight with the fearsome Grimnak. A squad of 4 Roman Legionnaires and a squad of 3 Roman Archers are ready at your command. These archers and Legionnaires with their special powers and abilities will add strength and power to your armies.

Grut Orcs
Add the power of Gruts to your Heroscape Army. To support Grimnak and Deathwalker 9000 in battle, Utgar has summoned more warriors to join the fight. Now you can build more into your army with a squad of 4 Blade Gruts or a squad of 3 Arrow Gruts. The special powers and abilities of these Grut warriors will strengthen your armies for all future battles.

Snipers and Vipers
Add the power of Snipers and Vipers to your Heroscape Army. Jandar needs more warriors to continue his battle against the evil Utgar. Together he and Ullar have summoned additional warriors to help in the fight. The snake-like Vipers are able to slither through water, advancing faster towards the enemy. The deadly shot of the Soulborgs are sure to help in all future battles. The special powers and abilities of these Snipers and Vipers will add speed and power to your army.

Granted, it's fluff but if you want it I got it. Before I got spoiled by your nicely formatted bios I made my own. I didn't include some of the info you did, but I always included the packaging stories for some reason.

I've been meaning to put every printed bit of HS stuff together (all text from instruction sheet scenarios, the comics, the online scenarios, the packaging text, etc.) and try to formulate a complete list of names and places...sort of a gazetteer if you will for Valhalla. Feel free to snag that idea, do all of the work it would take, and then let me enjoy it online for free. :P

And if you or anyone ever needs any packaging info at all just let me know. During the day I have full access to the current complete mint in mint packaged set of HS swag that I have displayed in my office at work.

The packaging is indeed fluff, but then again so are the background stories themselves! If you have it in a Word DOC go ahead and send it my way (email is located below), I will see if I am able to slip it into the Collector's Info pages.

You do realize the current front page article is exactly what you just described. Annerios has put together: The Unofficial Guide to Heroscape (http://heroscapers.com/?p=15)!

I had no idea that Annerios had put that together. It's fantastic. :)

I'll admit that much of my online Scape time has been put on a shelf due to real life constraints. In the past month or two I've been back to look in from time to time and I keep coming across stuff just like this. Thanks for pointing it out to me. ;)

Keep an eye on that front page! The articles change anywhere from 3 to 10 days to keep everyone aware of the important stuff that might get lost hiding amongst all the "Who is Nerak?" threads.

I am afraid you are not the only one who does that. Sure, it may be shorter but the cost in information should make up for the 8 seconds it takes to see a new article has not been posted and hit the "Forums" link. Even with my foreknowledge of articles as an AdMin I don't skip the front page!

Hey Markwars do you still have the storylines from the packaging? I never got around to typing them all out. Maybe you can post them as a file in the downloads section alongside Annerios' Unofficial Guide since they're not exactly the same. Or at least I don't think they are. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I wonder if they sit around and put alot of thought into the bios or just say like " Hey, that sounds as good as any we'll run with that " or maybe a combo of both ? :ponder:

Malechi
September 22nd, 2006, 01:56 AM
It is highly likely it started out with the former, but has gradually turned to the latter. This theory is based on the fact that there have been quite a few Bios lately (well the last few batches as there ain't been squat* lately) that have not matched the actual power/abilities of the Army Cards ...

Ruthless, relentless, bloodthirsty Khosumet is perhaps the finest example of Utgar's rage. This vicious wolf warrior is known as Utgar's grim reaper, and with good reason: charging furiously into battle swinging his swift, razor-sharp khopesh, Khosumet is well equipped to cut a path of destruction through tough enemy lines. Friendly warriors who battle by his side become energized and even more deadly. Only utter defeat will stop him, and that will not be easy; Khosumet is well practiced in the art of defense, and his sturdy shield will easily block an attacker's blow.

I don't think many people would think the Dorklord fits his bio.

I just got into the game last year after buying a game set at a garage sale. Since then I have been working on expanding my sets, have begun to customize terrain, and recruiting new players to the game.

I was disappointed to just learn that HS will no longer be be made by WoC or Hasbro- so I want to learn how to mold my own tiles, create my own cards, and continue to customize where I can.

This is a very helpful thread in better understanding the back story to all the characters. Thanks for putting this together.

So much to learn-- this is a wonderful forum.
