Quick note: Allskulls really put on a great event!!! I can't say enought how much fun everyone had.

Furthermore, he had devised a great new system. Everyone chose, at random, a round card. On that card it told you who you would play and on what map, in what round. (example: Map B, Round 2 - you would ask around, "Who's on map B in round 2??? - it was like a mini hunt great!!!)

It was fun to know who you would be playing, when and where. I knew I would be playing Detrimentalman in the 3rd round on the Big 3 set map. I knew this would be a critical game... as Det and I took the top 2 spots last tourney.

Again, Great job Allskulls!!!

It would have been tough for me to achieve 4th place with no wins. I was 2-1-1

------JuicerGM's Report. ------

First round was a Bye round as we had the odd number of 11 players in the tourney.

Second round I took the place of Caleb, one of Onix's nephews, and played Onix on the Swamp Valley Map. I used my Marcus Gallus Decimus Army, and we faced Khosumet, Wolves With Krug. Due to miss calculation on my part my Knights went the wrong way round and no close hand to hand occurred and the wolves hid behind a ruin from my 4th Mass. The AE dropped in but close enough and with little effect other than leaving their bloody bodies behind. Onix scored a win on that round through remaining army and elimination of a majority of the Elite.

Third round I ended up against Onix again as I took the place of his other nephew Christian. This time we faced each other on the Hot Shore Map. I had Agent Carr's Army, against Onix's Bracus and Deadeye Dan. This looked like a bad idea at first as Krav Maga's got blasted away by first Dead Eye and then Bracus coming in. But Agent Carr moved in and started to quickly change things as he carved up Bracus and the Microcorp took over Attack and Defense Glyphs. A shot by Deadeye being blocked by Microcorp Stealth Suits and Agent Carr swinging for the fences with the Sword of Recconning eliminated first Bracus and then Deadeye. A range glyph and Microcorp cleared the rest of the field leaving one Marro running who the Microcorp quickly dispatched. A decisive win for me.


The fourth round I faced Caleb on the Ice map. I used my Krug's Army, versus Q9, X17 with Gladitrons and Guilty. Their speed prevented their moving in quickly on the ice and allowed the orcs to take down some of their figures. I was not able to eliminate Q9 but did get X17 and some Gladitrons moving the game into my win column.

I do have to say the game were excellent and the turn of events could have easily swung the outcomes the other way. I am looking forward to seeing many of you again. One last thank you for Allskulls for opening his home and being so prepared. Thanks to those that added in prizes you helped give everyone a chance to walk away with something from this event.

My short & sweet battle report...

Round 1 W
I faced John on the Swamp Valley map. We had very close teams with Theracus, Deadeye and vipers. This was about Glyph control so my Venoc Warlords scout enhancement helped me seal the deal. I sent my vipers for the +1defense and +1attack right away giving cover with my archers. It feels good rolling a defense die for a viper.
Good game, John. Speed kills!

Round 2 L
Oogie and that dang Braxas! He said it earlier...I never rolled defense. He just used his stinky halatosis spit to melt away my whole army. And, yes, I do believe Braxas is broken in pre-draft :D

Round 3 W
I finally get to take it to the snow (great job on the map Oog and Dman) and there I meet with Tbone once again. Nilf seems to be too big for his own element. Q9 did his job well this time but was almost taken down by a lone AE. Great match, TBone. I know you're still itchin for me...that team battle after the tourney doesn't count :wink:

Round 4 L
Braxas again! This time it's Onix and I pick my anti-Braxas team...Q9, marrden hounds, marro warriors, and gladiatrons. This was a fight to the finish. I had 2 gladiatrons in melee with Braxas at the end with Braxas needing 1 wound. Blocked them both. Spit time! Good play Onix. We both made a couple mistakes that game.

Great pictures. It looks like everyone had a great time. And it was good to see new faces, too! Good prize with the FF DVD. The animation is awesome, and the action is very well choreographed... but I digress!

Glad to see the SoCal crew continue to roll, and also nice to see that a name other than Oog's will also be etched on the trophy! :)

Yeah, it looks like you did well setting everything up the way you did. Even devising a way to match folks up each round, which I'm sure will become the format for future gamedays. So long an people were comfortable and had a good time (which it sounds like they did), that's all that matters.

This game was fought tooth and nail as john came out swinging with his 2 sets of minions, Me Burq Sa, and grimnack...against my sentinels, realin, snipers, and sgt drake...this is were drake was able to take out grimnak..

Great battle report Wilk! It was good meeting and playing yah. That snow definitely set up back some LOL. For whatever reason my newb brain thought Orcs would be best on the snow, next time I have a few more plans! :)

I know I said short...but it's a slow day at the office:

So here is how my tournament day went down. The excitement and pre-tourney jitters were in full swing as I got to Mike’s house. I brought all my land pieces and helped to set up before I had even got my armies figured out. So after helping put together the maps I ran over and put together two armies from the last tournament one that I didn’t even use as one of my 4 (beast bonding) and 1 that I did (valiant minutemen). Then I grabbed the one I used 3 times and tweaked it, with just about everyone there I quickly grabbed Q9 and Braxas for a small but powerful 4th.

Little bit of mix up with the drafting. I wasn’t to play Oogie (Noooo!), but I sat down with slikrikk and set up (we were the first ones ready to go). Meanwhile 11 people not 12 and we have to pick cards again... Tada, I play slikrikk still on the same MAP! Another new guy John second, Oogie 3rd and T-bone fourth. Not bad two new and two familiar faces.

1st Round
Slikkrik let me in on his beginning status and let me know pointers would be appreciated. Oogie walked by and told him to separate his figures and move his archers closer together for volley attacks. Thanks Oogie! =) Mimring was definitely the mvp of the game; fireline attacks just tore up slikk’s army. Meanwhile I had gruts on attack, defense, and range +4. So with some gruts having up to 4 dice with swog riders and range 10 they cleaned up nicely and krug just sat around scratching his ass. Other then losing two gruts it was flawless. Finishing slightly early we talked about the game and the young padawan soaked up where I thought he went wrong; definitely a man who will learn from his mistakes as he went on to take 3rd place.

Victtory due to gruts fast movement to get glyphs and mimring's fire line with opponent not getting a singly volley off.

2nd Round
Oh boy did I pick wrong. Valiant army against minions and it was ugly. I have to give it to John for rolling the 6 defense very nicely and winning initiative almost every time. Those red monsters were hard to take down and cut quite a swath through my army; taking out McAllister early on before I could buff him with Fin and putting a hurting on my minutemen. Missed having him roll for lava damage twice but finally noticed it as he moved some off and he lost a minion (Afterwards I think I noticed that John started off his starting zone, I don’t think the three minions on lava was a valid starting point *shrug*) With some brave stand and fire shots minions finally started going down. One minutemen almost single-handedly took down grimnak with another making the killing blow before he was able to devour any of my men. With a few minions left and only my knights and 1 minuteman left I was getting very nervous. Luckily John fell for my X marker and sent 1 minion after the minuteman and my knights survive to take down three minions with the aid of Fin’s +1.

Victory due to stand and fire with a mistake or two on the opponents side.

3rd Round
Oogie and I knew this would be a big battle and it was hard to decide what to take. When I saw what Oogie had I felt utterly miserable for a minute. Charros is very intimidating, but I did have deadeye dan so maybe all was not lost. With my ae not dropping for 3 or 4 rounds it was left up to my small band of heroes to stem the tide. Oogie flew charros into the corner onto the attack cliff and his minutement became serious foes. After popping 1 or 2 with deadeye I ran him behind a ruin and called for reinforcements. Theracus flew raelin up and then ran headlong into the two threatening minutemen killing one before going down. (6 dice with raelin against 3 attack and he took two hard hits, nice shooting Oog). With Sylvarus coming up the side of the hill he began using his awesome reach and it was very telling. Minutement began dropping like flies. Here is where the ae dropped and their range was again very helpful on this map. Minutement died before they even saw the blurry outline of my AE. Charros rolled out and having mocked all my attempts with deadeye began rolling my army. He claimed Raelin, Sylvarus, and deadeye (though with issues fitting on even ground I was able to make a dent or two with the height advantage). With two minutes left I set up my order markers and waited for Oog who took until the buzzer to set his order markers, but I wasn’t going to hear it and claimed my last round. With initiative I took out charros putting points in my favor and cementing the win….maybe…

Victory mostly due to range and minutemen not being able to move around effectively on the cliffs,

4th Round
With oogie winning in points after my near defeat in game two this was still a fight for the win. If T-bone took me down and Oogie won then he was taking the trophy home again. Earlier Oogie told me he has a tradition of never using the same army twice in a tournie and I almost decided to go with it. That would have made this Q9 and Braxas who I think would have mowed down T-bones army of medium figures. Anyways I went with the AE army again. I dropped them almost right away and had one sit on the attack and one on defense with other two on height within grenade range of T-Bones clustered troops. I get Initiative and threw my grenades; I whiff the first but the second damages denrick and kills three knights. T-bone makes me pay heavily for it though. With three shots of his krav against three AE I throw 4 blanks 3 times and there went my game, or so I thought. Luckily dan proved much more useful this round and took out 3 or 4 figures with his shots. In the end Sylvarus, with range and height, proved his worth again giving me the win.

Victory due to deadly range and almost perfect sniping shots.




Time to see how we all made out, but as I walked over I realized that we didn’t have enough prizes for all 11 people. I think it’s important that everyone takes something home and I had brought some DVDs I was going to save for when I hosted, but brought just in case, which worked out beautifully.

Some people had to leave right away and some stuck around for two games of 2v2. I paired up with caleb against Onix and Juice and braxas and Q9 (tournie armies only). Q9 laughed at all attempts to kill him and without a single wound took out Tony’s braxas and others. Tony had the last laugh and sweet revenge with a 20 from deadeye against Q9. (Finally paying me back for my roll on mimring some weeks before) Caleb did his part with his units taking out a few guys himself. Braxas flew in the last minute and melted people left and right. Last turn last round (timed again) and last roll takes out Agent Carr to give us the victory in points.

Then we stuck around talking about cartoons for a while, of all things. We talked for so long in fact that I didn’t end up sticking around to try out a co-op game with allskulls. Maybe next time man!

Finishing slightly early we talked about the game and the young padawan soaked up where I thought he went wrong; definitely a man who will learn from his mistakes as he went on to take 3rd place.

Young padawan indeed! That was the best ass-kicking I ever got. ;)

Man, I'm so disappointed to miss out on the 2x2. Simi-Valhalla here I come!
