BOATS
Viking Longboat... I decided to take a stab at giving my Vikings back thier sea fairing ways by making a Longboat.

I came across the plans for a Viking ship (http://cp.c-ij.com/english/3D-papercraft/building/viking_e.html) after following a link in the thread Windmills? (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=7975).

These are unfinished PICs. Tell me what you think...

http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/541/vikinglongboat2rd8.jpghttp://img62.imageshack.us/img62/4350/vikinglongboat4qm2.jpg

Here are the finished PICs w/ Mast, Sail, and Water tile base. NOTE I still need to do a little touch painting.

[i]JUNGLE BRUSH
Here are some PICs of jungle brush I tried to recreate as based off PICs from Gen Con...

STATUES
Elven Shrine... I got bored one day and decided to make a Syvarris statue using Grey paint and drybrushing. Then I did the same with Soelin. Anyway had some Wedding Columns lying around with some extra 7-,2-, & 1-hexers, and WALA
http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/858/elvenalter3elvenarmyiz4.jpghttp://img222.imageshack.us/img222/1851/elvenalterpy1.jpg
http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/6811/elvenalter1leftspyrelb9.jpghttp://img222.imageshack.us/img222/5369/elvenalter2rightspyredy1.jpg

Rise of the Valkyrie Statues...Since all figures in the RotV MS are unique there was no reason for me to keep any more than 1 set. So I would rip the figures, Literally, off thier bases, keeping the base for custom creations and giving the figs to my son.

Then I started to thinking about making statues for Sudema's Lair as Line of Sight Obstacles and thought I'd paint a set of Figs with Flek Stone Paint.

The PIC represents a non and painted version...

URBAN TERRAIN
Buildings as posted in Burnt up House post by Insomnimaniac (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=7719)

Cool Idea. Looks like something that would fit into an urban battleground or HeroScape Marvel Legends very well.

I'll be making some of my own very soon...

I would like to see what you've got in mind. Make sure you post pictures, promise? It wasn't really my idea. I walked into a game store and they had something like this for $40 or so and I thought that was too much plus I wanted to make the AE feel right at home.

As promised, here's my attempt at a building. A little too big but I'll try and make a smaller one.
http://img465.imageshack.us/img465/7175/wwiidemobuildinghz8.jpghttp://img411.imageshack.us/img411/8058/wwiidemobuilding1rz2.jpghttp://img412.imageshack.us/img412/9146/wwiidemobuilding2sw0.jpghttp://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3822/wwiidemobuilding3wp0.jpg

Dang! Look at that. It IS huge, but I like it. It looks like the windows are a little high for the figures, but that is great!!

I've yet come up with a way to make a step or a ladder to the 2nd floor but am thinking about making "rubble" spaces going up.. Ahh, just an idea. Haven't been in the HS room in a week, works been crazy.

Here's the Smaller one...
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/1636/wwiidemobuildingbsmallqo0.jpghttp://img440.imageshack.us/img440/6103/wwiidemobuildingbsmall1eu4.jpghttp://img72.imageshack.us/img72/6104/wwiidemobuildingbsmall2tu0.jpghttp://img72.imageshack.us/img72/3628/wwiidemobuildingbsmall3hj9.jpg
And both on the same terain...

Are you going to texture the walls? Seems like you're really working on that thing.. Keep up the good work. Makes me want to finish mine, but the wife is sleeping and she'll kill me if I awake her.. haha
I was going to do the spackle thing but was lazy so I used some of my stone paint instead.

Did you use two seperate paint shades, or is that just the lighting?

Did you use two seperate paint shades, or is that just the lighting? Is it that noticable? I painted the Vikings and Mimring with Harbor Fog, and the rest with a Sandstone. I had hopes to do every theing with the Harbor Fog.

Nice statues, I've been saving some of my MS figures in the idea that I might make some statues with them. Mimring in particular I think would be good.

My first attempts were Mimring, Thorgrim, Fin, & Tarn Vikings done in "Harbor Fog". Everyone else was done in "Sante Fe Sand"
As for them looking like White Marble, I think it was due to the NEW Digi-Cam and experimenting with settings. I wish they were Marblized but then again it was intended for Sudema as statuettes...

For the interior walls, you could paint, or use craft sticks stained as wainscoting, with wallpaper above. Make sure to think in multiple rooms. Plus, there are the dollhouse interior furnishings you can use, possibly damaged, as decor/terrain. I can see a bathtub purched precariously on the edge of a 3rd floor hex....

For some reason that makes me think of Mortal Kombat. Like I'll I'm imagining is those are hero's who didn't quite cut it, so they were turned to stone.

BTW that is a good thing if it didn't come across that way. :D

I like the ruined buildings a lot. I've been playing around with foam core stuff myself lately and I find stone touch to be a great solution for texturing it. I need to find some actually texture spray paint, though. I got some of that "orange peel" wall texture, which did ok, but it goes on in pretty big blobs, so probably not the best for this scale.

You could gpaint some ladders with rust colored paint and glue then onto the building.

A busted up elevator would be a great way to move from level to level as well ... you know, if you're really feeling ambitious. :D

edit: is there a tutorial on these buildings anywhere or are you willing to post one? Once Marvel comes out and Cav's City Street Mats are available, getting some broken up buildings will be the next step in completing my superhero playing experience. 8)

Cool boat too, btw. I have interest in adding boats to the game, but movement rules for such large objects is quite the query ...

Thanks for the responses, Ponchoman! I really wish Hasbro would come up for some movement rules for figures larger than 2 hexes by 1 hex, so that large mobile boats could become a possibility.

The question asked in the beginning of this post, was this a waste of time? What a silly question! Yo have such awesome ideas, and I truelylove that viking boat!I'm going around the website to look for threads where I can get ideas to make stuff for my heroscape. And the first thing I want to make is a boat. Can you please tell us how you made it? HS needs boats, and alot of them. :D

I LOVE THE JUNGLE BRUSH

you needed to make a tuturial on those.. like WHAT TYPE OF PLANTS DID YOU USE..... also I like the boat but there is one flaw with boats in heroscape.....only 21 water tiles withe each ms....I limit myself to 1 of each expansion.... so i stay away from boats.....

As far as your building is conderned.. how do figures get to the top levels.....I know airborn elite has that drop thing.. are you planning on just letting them stay there all game... it does look like the floors would call for a falling damage roll....mabye you can make a ladder.

Thoughts for your wip (work in prosess):
the building looks like it is made out of foamcore why don't you take a rock form outside and press it against the walls.. that would give you a textured look... a base coat of black.. drybrush of grey... then a drybrush of white would make it look like concreete.. its real easy to do

Jungle stuff looks goods. If you washed with a dark green or black you could take some of the shine and color off of the plants and in my opinion would make them look closer to coming out of a swamp.

First, welcome to the site.

Second, this is the second thread I've seen where you've "necromanced" an old thread (i.e., the last post before your's was over a year ago). This usually is looked down on at Heroscapers unless you are adding something new or updates to the thread. Your post was basically a "that's awesome" post, which doesn't add any real value (i.e., nothing new or improved). If you want to say "awesome" job on an older thread, use the "reputation" (looks like a scale in the upper right corner of a post) on the original person's post.
