I think he is pretty cool on the home page...
But...
I hope you can make a few tweaks to the scaled down version on the top of the index page.
The cleft in the chin looks like teeth in the scaled down version to me,
making him look like a crazy evil bug dude, not a Kyrie Hero. The area of the helmet around his eyes looks like bug eyes.
And the wings just about disappear against the white background.
But really, I like it a lot, and thanks for taking the time to make the custom artwork!

Well obviously someone was going to find something ridiculous to compare the Kyrie to. So now that we've gotten that out of the way...
CupidsArt once again does an amazing job!! You've know idea how happy I am with this image, and CA has true reason to sing as much of his own praise as possible. :D
This illustration is actually going to be used for an upcoming GenCon shirt for HouseMouseGames.com Heroscape tournament. Sandra asked me to put something together, and I immediately thought of going to CA for assistance in the project. It took me a while to come up with some sort of a rough concept. But I finally did.
This image, pieced together in about 10 minutes with different images in Photoshop, is what I sent him...
http://www.heroscapers.com/oldgallery/albums/userpics/10027/normal_shirt1.jpg
... and he more than achieved what I wanted with his final illustration. Even the colors are spot on! And the helmet is an actual viking helmet, by the way.
I've already thanked him a lot for his work, but I am going to thank him again.
THANK YOU, CUPIDSART!! It's so easy to be an art director of sorts with talent like his.

Yes I plan on changing him here in the forums page... I'm just waiting on some assistance on that front. It's difficult because he needs to be large enough to see detail but he can't be pushing the forums down on the page and be creating a bunch of white space.
Also be looking for this illustration on a set of buttons that can be purchased to help support the site.

Legacy members from HQ.com may see a lot of the never used HQ.com logo in this new 'Scapers.com logo. That's because it's the same logo with some minor tweakings.
The HQ logo never saw the light of day, and seeing as how people liked how it looked, I thought I'd redesign it with the 'Scapers.com theme!

Not to be a spoilsport, but somewhere in the back of my brain there's a little alarm going off in response to truth using the word "store."
IIRC, isn't that one of the factors that killed .net? You can't start selling things that use copyrighted material, can you? Even if the character is original, the term "heroscape" is copyrighted.

All I know is that truth called the site "heroscapers.com" because heroscapers is a word that he made up that is not copyrighted, at least not to anyone's knowledge. Assuming this is true, I don't know why there would be a copyright issue with selling anything with that word or CA's and hextr1ps' original art on it.

Assuming this is true, I don't know why there would be a copyright issue with selling anything with that word or CA's and hextr1ps' original art on it.
Heroscapers.com is made up sure. But the term Heroscape is a registered trademark.
A trademark protects words, phrases, symbols, or designs identifying the source of the goods or services of one party and distinguishing them from those of others.
And in reference to how much you can change someone else's work in order to claim copyright (or I suppose at least not breach copyright)...
Only the owner of copyright in a work has the right to prepare, or to authorize someone else to create, a new version of that work. Accordingly, you cannot claim copyright to another's work, no matter how much you change it, unless you have the owner's consent. See Circular 14, Copyright Registration for Derivative Works.
If anyone is at all concerned about copyright issues, they should approach the copyright holder (assuming that it's Hasbro or MB), and ask for permission. The worst they could say is "no".
Besides, the owner of the registered trademark may enjoy having more exposure for their product - is it not their primary motivation to sell units?
Well, that's my 1.4837cents worth (according to the latest exchange rates)

But couldn't Hasbro argue that the word "Heroscapers" contains and is clearly based off of the word "Heroscape?" Just as I could not call my company "Microsofters" or "BurgerKingers" and get away with it. I just worry that selling shirts is pushing the boundaries. I think Truth could maybe print out iron-on transfers of the logo as long as he didn't sell them....

The phrase needed here is
Fair Use (http://www.publaw.com/fairusetrade.html) (not the best link, but good enough)
All the proposed uses of the heroscapers items here fall into that category.
One of the problems with .net was probably that Craig and Rob's participation could have been construed as sponsorship by Hasbro and thus diluting their trademark.
The heroscapers logo and the original artwork mascot are not something that would be confused with an official Hasbro product.
Additionally, if the mascot became an official unit, we would have to stop using it. I truly hope they don't make it official.
But I certainly hope someone is up to sculpting a fig that we can make into a custom unit!

What does it mean:
It was Atropos who chose the mechanism of death and ended the life of each mortal by cutting their life's thread.
Sure Atropos was a chick, and one of the three fates, but I'm just mesmerised by the concept. Ho hum.
Great artwork. Top show, old chap!
Additionally, if the mascot became an official unit, we would have to stop using it. I truly hope they don't make it official. I'd like to hope that, for the artists benefit, it did become an official piece! That'd rock! Fame, fortune, hot chicks :P
Also, I suppose (technically speaking) you couldn't even use the term Kyrie in the Heroscaping context. Although kyrie is a greek term for "O Lord", according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyrie).

I believe if the mascot is turned into an actual figure/custom he should have an abilty like this.
UNITY UNDER FIRE
Instead of moving and once per round you may
place "X" adjacent to any Friendly Hero figure
within 7 clear sight spaces, that has 1 remaining
life. That hero must also be engaged with at
least one enemy unit. If there are no clear
spaces adjacent to the chosen Hero,
Unity Under Fire may not be used on that Hero.

Yes, definitely not for church use.
The admin on hs.net, the Heroscape forum 2 sites ago, was hero. He posts here from time to time. That's the reference to hero that the others are making. hero was known to use the term "fuctard" from time to time. It comes from combining the 2 words that you probably have already figured out.
hero also gave a special title to cbs42 once that referred to him as being an ungrateful whorebath. That was what I was referring to.

I was giving the German or Old Norse value to the vowels, but a short "i" is quite possible for modern; just wanted to make sure it is not an "e" sound, as it would be in English (the old, "when two vowels go a-walkin', the first one does the talkin'" thing.

Well, I don't plan on taking it down, I just hope it doesn't cause a problem with the mods.

Well the original idea was to come up with an idea for a mascot, but now we have one, and I don't want the person who did the awesome artwork to be upset if people start making stats for something he created.

You could make it so there has to be an actual figure, which would be pictured on the card.

Lord love a duck, ud. What I really do admire about you is that you are able to see the absurd in the midst of the absurd.

I love Heimdall!
'truth, please, let's name him Heimdall! It's perfect!
Sounds like some sort of topical ointment.
"Honey, I fell in a big patch of poison ivy out here, can you toss me out some heimdall?"
