The HS rules call for game conflicts to be resolved via the 20 sider. That got our group thinking about other uses for the 20 sider. Who won the election? Roll the 20 sider. Settlements on the West Bank? 20 sided die of goodness. Pizza or hamburgers? Roll it.

What other uses can you find for the 20 sided die of great goodness?

I read a book a few years ago by an author called Luke Rhinehart (http://www.lukerhinehart.net/) called The Dice Man (http://www.lukerhinehart.net/books4.html#dice%20man2) which dealt with this subject matter.

The main character in the book was a psychotherapist who used a pair of dice and a list of options to decide pretty much everything he did in his life.

The book is quite a few years old now, and not the most memorable book I've read, but the whole concept is pretty weird.

Get your D20 and follow the instructions below...

Roll the 20 sided die:

1 - 5: Go and make a sandwich and eat it now, whether you are hungry or not.
6 - 11: Click HERE (http://www.askaninja.com/tags/ultradoug)

My dearest Ultradoug, there is no hiding from the omniscient Ghod of Google :)

The question is: did you roll the die and then perform the corresponding task . Or did you simply just click 'em all?

This ain't no shannanananagans, you could use your D20 for any choice you make. You could roll it and say:

Evens = I wash the dishes
Odds = You wash the dishes
Prime number = No t.v. tonight. Let's all play charades instead.
If I roll x, then I will quit my job and become a missionary.

We use Rock, Paper, Scissors to settle minor disputes between our kids sometimes (e.g. who rides in the front seat of the car). We could use evenly matched combat dice and observe the outcome to determine the winner.

Sounds great. I'm embarking on a whole new kind of parenting tomorrow - providing I roll a 7 now....
