I have not drafted the Shaolin Monks in ages. I want to, but every at every draft, I find something else I think would be worth more in point value.

Monks do better on smaller elavated maps and against low level swarms units. Vipers / orcs.

They are a bit fragile but they can make a difference in certain situations.

I didnt think about them vs low lvl swarm units, thnx rychean. My friends and I always do random draft, and someone ends up with the monks and doesnt seem to kill anything with them :? They have been useful on closing the gap on some ranged units sometimes, but generally do not get the kill : (

I'm here to tell you. The first time I ever met DoubleOak, he swaggered into Jasco Games w/the AE. We were playing on a board that was composed of pieces from a collection of 20 Master Sets, 20 RttFFs, and a few other odds and ends. It was about 25 - 30 levels high, made for the AE, right?

Just saw this thread and when I saw the title and Ninth had posted last, first thought was "ah hell, he's gonna bring out the AE story".

What a difference losing initiative makes when your dumb enough to drop your AE in within a good leap of the monks. Not my proudest moments and Ninth, who I had just met was MOST inhospitable in how he treated my poor AE.

Ah but, had I gotten initiative and rained in some grenades on the tightly bunched monks and Velennes Snipers et al, oh would it have been sweet!!!

That Jasco day certainly gave me some respect for Ninth's monks, but I did get vengence on his cowboys :twisted:
