My participation level on heroscapers is going to drop off severely guys. Normally I would hang out at the site while I was at work and check the threads inbetween doing real work but that's about to end again. This is the second time they've decided to do this, some may remember my first leave of absence last year.
I may post here and there when I check the site from at home but my desire to be online after I get off work is pretty low. I'll try and keep up with some of my favorite threads but it may be a while before I'm back in the boards full force again.
See ya guys.

Co-sign.
And I'm sure a LOT of other folks around here feel the same way about your upcoming absence.

Well, that's teh suxxorx!
I'm sorry to hear about the oppression in your workplace, noodles. :grumble:
Your management must be a pack of miserable wretches.
...my desire to be online after I get off work is pretty low.
I completely understand that. Once it get home I have a whole bunch of distractions that I don't have when I am at work.
Isn't it ironic how posting is easier when you're at work than at home?
If they stopped me from using the internet at work I'd probably have to take up smoking again, and then I could take about 2 hours of smoke breaks every day like most of my co-workers.

No I work for the man. They've got software keeping track of our http requests and it all goes into a log file that is mailed to our department head at the end of the week. So you can see the suckage that I face now.

I feel your pain, noodles. My supervisor at work has said that what we do while our machines are processing (for several minutes at a time, many many times a day) is up to us, so long as it is not wrong (ie, porn). Well, recently (OK, maybe more like a month ago) somebody must have seen me posting here semi-frequently and complained (because there is a big "I can't do that so why can they" attitude with people in defferent departments) because I tried to get here one day and it was blocked as a "local exception". They had previously blocked all game-related sites that were readily identifiable as game sites.
Now, a couple weeks ago, they implemented a policy that only lets you access the internet during your scheduled break or lunch, and not on work time at all. Regardless of what our PCs are busy doing in the meantime. And I tried at lunch and HSers is still blocked.
Sorry to rant for so long, it just really Pee'd me off.

Yea, my work place caught me and I was only on Heroscapers for maybe 30 seconds... here is part of my post from : Do you post at work thread This is what happened to me a couple months ago:
I still haven’t posted at work … however while I was trying to explain to a co-worker what dice tower was..… it hit me! I know were some pictures of dice towers are (Heroscapers.com). So I could show them ( one picture is worth a thousand words ) . I went right to the site and was on Heroscapers.com for no more than 30 seconds….. My phone rings! It is the Computer Center and I am getting quizzed about heroscpaers what is it and what are the pictures I have up on my screen. BUSTED ! I can’t believe me of all people, and it took less than a minute online.

Truth,
I don’t know about Noodles company, but we were a Fortune 500 company... but with all the mergers and acquisitions I am sure we have dropped out of that club.

I feel for ya. I have been blocked at work as well and while I may quickly read through many threads, I rarely have time to post anything anymore as I choose to spend my home time doing other things. Hopefully we will still have you around more than when you were gone before.

This all started because somebody outside of the IT department saw some people surfing the net and playing solitaire on their computers and complained to a vice president.
Nevermind that we're web developers and it's our job to be on the freakin internet and nevermind that we usually play the waiting game on projects since we work in teams and are dependent on other people....none of that matters right now. If we surf the net for non-work related stuff, we're getting in trouble. It's ridiculous that we have internet police now.
Anyways, I'll try to post now and then while at home but it just won't be as often as before.
Uprising - I'll be in the NBA thread until the finals are over.

Dude that has to be illegal! The site will miss you but as long as the work Nazis don't moniter your house you can still post on weekends.

Well, I'm a minor, so I don't have a job. However, my school uses an evil blocker known as "Smartfilter-Bess." Any website we go on often for more than a week gets blocked, even if it is fine. For example, HSers is blocked for "Personal Pages." We even had Google blocked for about a week before our librarian notified them of the "false alarm."
We're on break right now, but school's back in session tomorrow, an I'll try out prawxsie at lunch. (It also blocks well known anonimisers such as vTunnel.)
