Just saw Ghost Rider...and it was surprisingly good. My expectations was for some cool effects and that's it, but the movie was done well. Sure it was a bit campy but old school comic readers would dig that :D

And for those of you who feared Mr. Cage messing it up...fear no more. He actually played a good Blaze. Even buffed up for the role. Not sure why though, he was a frackin skeleton.

One of my favorite scenes was the rooftop and the helicopter...

I was supposed to go see this yesterday but the people going with me cancelled out on me. Maybe today. Glad to hear it was well done, it looked awesome from the previews.

Amen. my feelings exactly! I was really susprised how good it was, I almost want to go see it again and for me that is a super rare thing for a movie.

How was Ghost Rider's voice? It was supposed to shake the theatre, did it?

Weird. My moms says the superhero movies I covet so are derivative and repetative. My dad'll take me to Spider-Man 3 on opening day.

So does this feel like a complete movie or do they leave it really open for a sequel? I really dislike the trend of superhero movies not resolving anything because they're hoping for a sequel even when there is no guarantee one will be made. Superhero storytelling is easy enough to just make a new adventure with a new starting point that picks up months or years after the last movie...they don't have to leave eight million dangling threads to pick up which results in an inferior product, especially if no sequel is made.

Which type is this?

It is a movie in itself, while it could easily go into sequel mode (showing him going down the road to another town) it isnt like they had the last scene of the bad guy coming back or leaving it at some cliff hanger. It was a complete movie with no cheesy leave you hanging to the next movie cliff hangers. Just saw it by the way and I did like it alot. I was pleased with how Ghost rider was portrayed.

It's hard to say. Superhero movies are made for sequels. Heck, if they can squeeze three movies out of a "C" rate hero like Blade, I'm sure they can make more Ghost Rider flicks.

That being said, they did a good job of wrapping up the details, if this is indeed the only one. The problem with Ghost Rider is that he doesn't have a huge rogue gallery to deal with. Obviously his biggest foe is Mephisto, but pitting Ghost Rider against the devil is like pitting Silver Surfer against Galactus. It's not going to happen.

I just came back from it. I enjoyed it. Nicholas Cage looked like he was having fun, which was a good thing. Sure there was some overacting by everyone, which lead to quite a bit of campiness. Eva Mendes was perhaps the weakest of the cast and really didn't fit into the story, but I guess every movie needs some eye candy. Sam Elliot was fantastic in his brief role and Peter Fonda is creepy cool.

I'm confused...why would Silver Surfer not battle Galactus? That seems like no brainer movie showdown material for a future Fantastic Four movie.

Galactus is one of the three most powerful entities in the Marvel universe next to Death and Eternity. Sure he's been defeated in the comics, but it was pretty much the work of Reed Richards and the threatened use of the Ultimate Nullifier, which is the one weapon capable of killing Galactus.

Galactus is the Power Cosmic and probably the most powerful and intellectual being in the Marvel Universe. Sure the Silver Surfer can show defiance against Galactus but there would be no match if they went head to head. Just like Ghost Rider would be no match for the devil. They can make their lives troublesome however.

I waited for 15 minutes and let the credits roll, just to see if they showed mephisto. nothing. but whatever, it is definitely possible for a sequel.

ps: does anyone know if "legion" was an actual marvel enemy?

Have not seen it yet....but GR is probably my favorite charachter of all time.

When I first heard they were making the GR Movie I was stoked.

Then I heard Cage was playing Johnny Blaze and I was pissed.

Then I started seeing the teasers and posters and stills online and i was stoked again.

Then they delayed the release over and over and over again...and i was like...OMG it's the first Fantastic Four (not the Jessica Alba FF) and Punisher (the Dolph Lundrgren one) movies all over again.

Now that it came out i just couldnt get siked up for it anymore but alot of people are saying it was good so I guess I am gonna go plop my $9 down

I will let you know how it turns out..LOL

I believe Legion was the son of Charles Xavier (Professor X). Blackheart is a regular Ghost Rider enemy though. I can't ever remember him going by the name Legion, though.

Legion is the son of Professor X...he is the one that cause the Age of the Apocalypse when he goes back in time to kill Magneto and accidentally kills his own father instead.

The odd thing about Legion is his real name is David Charles Haller...now in the Marvel Ultimate Universe, Professor X has a son named David Xavier...aka Proteus

Looks like there may be a sequel. Ghost Rider made over $15M on Friday alone. With a holiday weekend, it should hopefully make $50M by Monday. That's pretty damn good for a February release.

Yes it was a pretty good movie. I was surprised... Although I thought it was cheesy in the beginning and the set up was a little to over drawn. But once Ghost Rider finally showed up the movie was sweet.

I am not familiar with the Marvel Legion character but Blackheart was pretty much quoting, word for word, a passage from the Bible where a man possessed with many spirits spoke to Jesus. He called himself Legion.

And yes, the movie was complete by itself and the sequal potential is definately there. What if they made a GR and Blade movie? I think it would be cool, especially if they get Snipes to continue the role.

I saw it Friday and I was amazed. One of the best theaters in the world is here in Wichita and we have an amazing THX sound system. Ghost Rider's voice shook your very core. It was phenomenal! I've never been a huge Ghost Rider fan, but this movie impressed me. I'm going to see it again here in a few hours and I'm really looking forward for number two.

*wishful thinking*

I want to see a "New Fantastic Four" movie with Spidey, GR, Hulk & Wolvie. Seriously, how cool would crossover/team-up movies be?

Daredevil+Spidey vs. Punisher
X-Men vs. Fantastic Four
Wolverine vs. Hulk
any more I am missing?

I was looking through my comics last night and found that one with the "new fantastic four" with hulk, ghost rider, wolverine and spidey. I had forgotten all about that. They are called out as the secret defenders in a few other places like Dr. Strange.

I find it funny that the industry believes that comic book movies are a fad and won't last. The truth is that every Marvel branded movie has turned a worldwide profit at the box office. That doesn't even include video sales and rentals. Even critically panned movies such as the Hulk, Punisher, and Elektra are profitable to the studios. Heck, Howard the Duck even made a slight profit in box office sales alone.

It looks good for a sequel. I know one has been rumored, but I'm sure it will get a green light any time now. Ghost Rider has made over $120M worldwide in just ten days. Production costs were around $110M. Attached is a link with the box office numbers.

I went to see it on Thursday with four friends. I thought it was a very good movie. It had good music, some decent action, great effects, and the story was pretty good. I actually can't wait to rent it, I really want to watch it again. I give it 8 stars (out of 10).

I thought the movie was just "okay". But then again, I haven't been very impressed with too many of the big screen comic book movies, except Spider-Man. The brightest spot of Ghost Rider was Sam Elliott. His character, "The Caretaker" as dubbed in the credits, was very well done. I was more impressed with his story than that of Johnny Blaze. The special effects done to him and his horse were pretty cool too.

Overall, for a dark comic book theme, I would choose Spawn over this any day. For a movie that relied on heavy special effects, I thought the Ghost Rider animations were pretty weak at times. He was more of a robot.

The Spawn movie?? :puke:

Personally for me, Spawn ranks one below Catwoman and one above Batman and Robin.

I'm not saying Ghost Rider was the greatest comic book movie. I think I enjoyed it more than Fantastic Four. The main issues I had with it was Eva's Roxanne and how Johnny Blaze seemed to be more in control of the demon within him.

Saw it this weekend, and what can I say, it was great. Sure, there were some flaws, like jerky CGI in a scene or two, and taht plot with Eva Mendes being a big waste of time, it was a fun movie - definitely worth seeing.

My favorite scene would have to be the chasing of Mr. Wind (come on, who didn't love that!), the death of his friend, Mack or something, because it showed what villains like Blackheart would do; they don't leave the main character's friend almost dead, the kill him like they would any person. And Ghost Riders In The Sky was a PERFECT end song. Perfect.

As for the sequal - I hope it's about him as a wandering vigilante, no girlfriends, no allies, just muggers, the road, and the Ghost Rider. Maybe have Vengance has the villain, another Ghost Rider to hunt down Johnny or something.

All in all, a good movie. 8.0/10

actually the fact that he didn't have all his usual GR gear when he first transformed i felt was a great plot element. It gave you more of the idea that he wasn't just given his "toys" he got them through various events.
