I posted to another thread about old D&D products that are being sold as electronic downloads on paizo.com. Well looking through their offerings reminded me a a couple old D&D war games that were integrated with certain campaigns.

The first one is the Dragonlance module DL11: Dragons of Glory.

This one is a complete strategic war game that allows you to play out the war that is the background for the Dragonlance campaign and novels. I remember having a good time with this one back in my youth.

The second one is from classic D&D and is called X10: Red Arrow, Black Shield

This one allows you to play out the war as the Master of the Desert Nomads invades the D&D Expert Set world. If I remember correctly this one is not a self-contain war game like DL11. Whether certain nations join the war on one side or the other is determined by the actions of the PCs. However, I am certain that it can be easily modified to be a stand alone game.

The links I provided are for he pdf downloads of these products. I am not sure how that would work since you would have to print off the maps and counters to use for the game (and X10 says the counters are not included in the download). So if you can get a paper copy then that would probably be best.

However, if anyone has copies of these modules that they want to part with then let me know and I would be willing to trade HS stuff or buy them from you.

I don't think I ever saw Dragons of Glory. I've always wanted a good empire building tool for D&D. Mass combat, mass economics, an in depth look at politics, power, and influence. I've written my own mass combat rules for 3rd ed. based on the old Battlesystem rules. But I've never had the time to do more. I find it annoying that WotC is so adamately against empire building. What else does a 25th level character do?

Kepler, thanks for posting that. The Master of the Desert Nomads/Temple of Death modules were my favorite, great times running those. I held the Black Arrow one you refer to in my hands once and read through it (must be at least 15 years ago), but didn't buy it. I am going to DL it, pour myself a beer and have a nice nostalgia moment.
