View Full Version : TRU cancels 3/4 of its HS order

I spoke to the cashier, asking her if TRU still carries HS. She then tells me Hasbro cancelled 3/4 of their HS order including flag bearers. They had some old stuff dribbling in.

WTF?[/i]

Could you tell whether she was referring to Toys R Us in general or just that store?

Hillman
February 12th, 2007, 01:14 PM
I didn't ask, but I'll assume she meant that store. However, the Wal-Mart guy in toys said they expect a shipment in several days. However, he had no clue what or when. At least TRU knows what the hell they're getting and when.

I've also noticed HS showing up in a few comic shops which I hope doesn't become an exclusive trend as booster prices range from $14.99 at Wal-Mart to $19.99 at Wizard's Tower (which has the worst prices for games in all of Ottawa).

I hope Hasbro or WoTC gets their frikkin' product out in a timely manner real soon.

TRU is ridiculous! I went there this weekend and all they had was a crud-load of the Agents/Gladiators for $12.99 each!!!

My local TRU was pretty well stocked this past weekend. VV's, Master sets, FA's, Jandar flagbearers and a few expansions including Minutemen, Nakitas, and some others I'm not remembering.

Are in SE Mich, because my TRU has at least a dozen or so Agents and Gladiators from wave 5.

I'm SE Mich, too. And yeah, that's what all the TRUs have.

Regarding what the cashier said about Hasbro canceling most of the HS order? How would she know? As far as I can tell all TRU shipments are controlled from corporate HQ. Individual stores have no say in what they are getting, and are seldom even aware of what will be on the next truck. Unless the new ownership has changed that policy.

Sales Associates at the service desk can check the pending order distribution on any item, purchase status, # of orders fulfilled from manufacturer, and due date to warehouse from next shipment from vendor.

My Toys-R-Us is doing great last time I checked. I saw at least 5 of each flag bearer, most of wave 5, Castles, VW, RttF and a little of wave 4. TRU is doing fine here. Oh, Master sets too, lol.

My bro worked there and said that they hired lots of Criminals. I heard there was a TRU that recruited from a nearby prison.

Could be that Hasbro doesn't have a large enough supply, or that they are pissed with TRU for jacking up the suggested retail on flag bearers just because they were an exclusive and they could gouge us.

ToysRUs in Canada is run as a separate entity to the US chain. The supply in Canda has alway way been different to the US. For example TRS Can never ordered in VW or RTTFF set at all. Upper management told me by email they didn't think they would sell so would not be carrying them. This turn of events doesn't surprise me.

While I don't know the reason behind the decision, I've been told there will be no "exclusives" in 2007.

YEA! YIPPEE! Best news I have heard regarding heroscape thus far this year--other than seeing that awesome new figure to come known as Sonlen, of course! :D

Being happy that TRUs will not be able to 'rob' us by hiking the price of yet another exclusive means there is something wrong with me? Or was it the excitement over Sonlen? Either way, I don't understand that logic.... :?

Oh well! 'Scape on folks, 'scape on! 8)

Hillman...TRU has had the exclusive right to sell the lava terrain sets and the flagbearers

I used to work at TRU and a reason why the order was reduced by 75% could be the fact that Hasbro has delayed the release of Marvelscape from its original January release date so that could alot for why the order was "cut"?

Just got back from pillaging the stockroom at my local TRU. Found out (not sure if this is old news or not) that Hasbro is sending them repacks that are "large assortments" of 1 TT and 2 RV in a case. Funny thing is, I got it from using the SKN for Orms....

Methinks it should be 1 of each (Orms, RV, and TT) in that box...

This exclusives crap is hot garbage. I much prefer to buy a product at the store of my choosing and not have to drive 100 miles to Memphis or 140 miles to Little Rock to get a figure from TRU. Not only that, but Hasbro could be missing out on bigger profits if producing exclusives. Imagine if flagbearers were in Walmart, how many more fans would be able to purchase them. I know I would. Hot Garbage I tell ya!

I'm only referring to the chain-specific items like the Flagbearers, VW, and EOV. I have no information on Gencon exclusives. I'm delighted to see the end of "exclusives" because I was embarrassed by the markup I had to add to these items. Just like you, I had to buy them at retail and also pay California sales tax.

Well if there are no GenCon exclusives there will be a lot of happy folks here. I'm going to the Con, but I would frankly rather not worry about getting an exclusive. They only seem to inspire a lot of people to gripe gripe gripe. And while I would love to get a freebie unit it would be even better to not see endless threads about how lame exclusives are.

i have no problem with the GenCon releases/freebee's. but i'd like to see them released in a future sup in a few years ("Heroes of Freebee" or other such stuff).

my complaint i had, and i'll confess i made an issue out of it with Hasbro and TRU Legal, was when Nerak came out and TRU employee's were selling the Demo Kits for mega bucks over on EBay. they were taking "give away/demo" stuff and making a reasonable coin on it and nobody cared.

kindness to me by someone on the yahoo list permitted me to get a Nerak for our collection (i play with my 2 sons, 17 and 14. we all buy for it equally. don't know what's gonna happen when they leave home though. big fight...)...

Personally I like the idea of the gencon exclusives. Since they're just repaints, I can take the original figure (unless they do a wave 3 figure...) and paint my own, thus having one more official hero for free.

I just hope if there is an official unit that it's a masterset repaint

Since they were initially free, perhaps we could call it "Heroes for Zeroes"

I like the Flag Bearers ALOT better than Nerak and Hawthorne. The flag bearers are MUCH more accessible to the general public as opposed to Nerak/Hawthorne.

Hi Guys,

I have no love for Toys R Us. Why you ask? Well I live possibly as far away to one as someone can in the continental U.S. This has been a major pain in regards to getting the Flag Bearers. You can't order them from their online store. The E-bay sellers are getting about $120.00 or more for a set, and more power to them, but I won't pay those prices. At least if theres a chance of them being sold online again.
Lately the e-bay ads have been proclaiming that the Flag Bearers are O.O.P. or no longer in production. I wanted to confirm or deny this so I called Hasbro who redirected me to Wizards of the Coast. First off, excellent customer service from W.O.T.C. I don't remember the gentlemans name but he assured me that none of the Heroscape line is considered out of production even the Flag Bearers. He was very friendly and informed. So next I called Toys R Us, ....words fail me... but I'll try. The person I spoke to was apparently involved in another discussion with someone else in the background. Naturally this distracted her, and hey its my fault for disturbing her at her job, customer service must not be used to dealing with customers at TRU (yes, rampant sarcasm). So after describing what I was asking about three times, she gets perterbed enough to check the computer. I could even hear the keyboard taps. My heart rate rose, perhaps she could tap into the inventory system and answer my question as to if the Flag Bearers will ever show up on the website again. Wait I thought she can't be done typing already... So she gets back on the phone and says "they're not on the website, so that means we don't sell them". "Well you (TRU) do sell them, they are a Hasbro exclusive to TRU " I said. "Will you get them back in stock?" I said. She said "No. and does this answer your question?" "I guess" I said.......click. Wow get a clue TRU!

Peace,
Brian

Ok, for all of you frustrated with FB's Heres the trick to fast service in finding them.

Call ANY TRU
Ask the service desk for floor quantity of item # 554070. Ask if there are any Backstocked (They can tell this in seconds). They come in 12 packs (3 ea Jandar/Utgar, 2 of other 3). They can also look into other nearby store inventories.

I hit Yonkers NY today and they were out, but the nice girl at service checked Nanuet NY which had 4 on floor + 1 case in back.

So some lucky scaper (I wont reveal his name) is getting the 4 missing from his set that he asked me for. :toast:

Hope this helps you.

My big problem is that I live over 200 miles from a Toys R Us, so online is nearly the only option, as driving that far to come up empty would be real frustrating

I don't know how often you go to Greensboro or if you'd be willing to make a special trip but the High Point Rd TRU had several sets of FB a couple weeks ago. I got a full set from there. If you're willing to make the drive it could be worth calling them.

This actually worked...though only 2 available within 50 miles, I am going to pick them up. It also way beats haunting the nearby TRUs and asking the employees who basically either know nothing or don't want to be bothered.

Should have combined quotes but, when I called the TRU that actually had FB's, there was an option for in store shipping...not sure if offered at all TRU's but, it's worth finding out if you are that far away.

Do you call the toys-r-us that has them to get them to do that?

I called a local down the street TRU first and asked them to check availability at all local stores. They said a store 35 miles from me had them but to call first to be sure as they aren't 100% up to date. So I called the store in question. The TRU I called first did not have the "shipping" option as a phone choice but, the second one that was supposed to have the FB's had it as a phone choice. Not sure if offered in all stores but, the phone service for the first had only two buttons to choose from and the second one had three...

FYI: 65 miles later and after being told that they were going to put the two on hold for me and just ask at the service desk...I got there and they said that though the computer says they have two they didn't have them in stock. Lesson learned...make sure they go to the floor and actually have them to put on hold.

It works, unfortunately the nearest TRU that has the FB's in stock, is Springfield, MO, with 29 units on the floor. That's a 3 hour road trip one-way. :?

You would think with a TRU distribution center 10 minutes away, this stuff would be more easily obtained locally.

You would also think that living right outside NYC and having checked every target, walmart, kmart, tru, and kbtoys anywhere around (including some NJ & CT when there) I would have seen some Wave 6. But nope, not a single one, ever. Hasbro's distribution sucks.

For the last time, it's not Hasbro's distribution. It's the pinheads that order it and don't understand it. If it was a distribution problem, Sandra would not have them either. Since this is not the case, it's a pinhead problem.
