View Full Version : Castle Map battle (Report is up!! Lots of pics.)
February 10th, 2007, 12:14 PM
I will soon be posting a battle report with pics on this map. This map has been one of my favorites but the defenders have won every battle so far. The interesting thing for me though was that it took very few peices. I used every castle and road set peice but was left with a lot of grass and sand.
This map has many LOS blockers and good glyph implacements. I'm not sure what point value I'll do yet but it should be an interesting battle. I hope to get the report up by the end of the day. Let me know what you think of the map.

interesting, how many sets did this take?

It only took about 3/4 of a master set, 1 castle and 1 road set. Also I just picked the armies.

Sorry this report is a little late but it took more time than I thought it would.
Attackers (A little too many)
The attackers start out moving orc archers and using beast bonding to get to ruins glyph, +4 range. The defenders move the romans and NGS.
Then Gilbert and his knights move slowly towards the far glyph but a Deathstalker gets to it first. Its a +1 def. Stalkers also move towards ruins ahead of romans.
NGS gets to Swog but can't kill it. Beast bonding starts to bring mimring into the fight while the 4th Mass. begin moving.
Romans meet mimring a little later and 1 gets scortched but the rest manage to wound him. Meanwhile the Stalkers kill the orc archers.
Knights and Gilbers meet the Stalker and 1 4th Mass. on the other side of the map. The first attack fails but the next turn they finish both and claim the def. glyph.
Back in the ruins Romans battle bravely and continue to wound Mimring but the dragon kills another of their comrads. Also the swog refuses to sucum to NGS. The attackers begin moving the ninjas and 1 is mauled by a Stalker. The defenders fail all attacks with 4th Mass. on the Knights that are slowly advancing.
Romans continue to fall and with 1 left he brings Mimring to 1 health. The defenders also get rid of the pesky swog rider. Unfortunatly the last roman falls to a 4 skull attack but a 4th Mass with height kills the dragon while the other 2 wreak havok down on the knights not moving for an increased attack and killing 2.
An attacking ninja kills off the stalker that killed his friend but the attackers lose another kinght to the minutemen that moved away for fear of Gilbert. The attackers bring samurai in to counter NGS.
The last stalker takes the range glyph as Gilbers moves up and catches up to a minuteman. Drake begins a slow charge up the stairs to take care of Gilbert. Gilbert whiffs his 2 attacks before Drake gets to him.
The 4th Mass fire some volleys at Gilbers as they move towards the far tower glyph, no wounds. A ninja climbs to the top of the far tower and gets a +2 move glyph. Drake and Gilbert fail to wound each other and the minuteman gets to the last glyph, summoning. The knight on the def. glyph is summoned.
Drake puts a huge blow onto Gilbert, 4 wounds while the minutemen kill the last knight. Down below in the ruins a battle has been raging between NGS and a stalker against a ninja and samurai. The last stalker dies leaving NGS alone. The other 2 samurai move to help Gilbert.
The Samurai can't make it in time to save Gilbert.
The Samurai kill a minuteman on the way and engage Drake.
The attackers begin to move Roman archers up who attack Drake but can't wound him. The 4th Mass. kill a samurai and an archer. Drake kills the other with a risky attack.
Ninja keeps eluding NGS who won't attack the samurai and can't mindshackle it.
The ninja finds the weakpoint in NGS's armor an kills him
(At this point it was getting dark out side so I used the flash for a few pictures but stopped because I thought it looked weird)
The minutemen lean over the bridge and kill the last samurai after finishing the roman archers.
The ninja leaves to deal with the minutemen because the range glyph os now useless for the attackers with only 2 ninja, 4 vikings and Finn left.
The defenders move Thorgrim to engage the ninja.
The ninja makes for the ladder leading to the minutemen and Drake. He dodges several musket balls and evades Thorgrim who gives up the chase and moves to the range glyph (key for the rest of the game). The attacking vikings and Finn move from the starting zone.
After dodging even more attacks a musket ball hits home on the poor ninja. Finn and vikings move to stop Thorgrim from getting the range glyph.
The vikings fail a key beserk charge and allow Thorgrim onto the range glyph in the shadows of the ruins giving 10 range to the 4th Mass. Thorgrim kills the viking that was 1 space away from the glyph.
Finn and and a viking engage Thorgrim and put 2 wounds on him. A viking on the far side took the def. glyph while the other that followed him moved towards a ladder to the castle. He was quickly shot down by the enhanced range 4th Mass.
Finn and viking attack Thorgrim but he fends off both attacks allowing the 4th Mass to attack Finn and kill him in 2 attacks.
Thorgrim then kills the viking adjacent to him ending the threat to the range glyph. In an act of desperation the last viking leaves the safety of the def. glyph and charges toward the stairs. He doesn't get far.
All that remains of the attackers is 1 ninja in the far tower on the move glyph. He begins a long move towards the main castle but after dissapearing once runs out of luck on the first ladder rung to the ground.
His head, barely visible but a hit spot none the less is hit by a 1 skull attack.
What a battle! At first glance I thought the attackers were going to destroy the defenders with their sheer numbers. What really saved the defenders was the castle, the 4th Mass., and their awsome attack rolls and the defenders lack of range. This map is fun to play on but gives the defender a huge advantage because of the access to the castle walls. Questions or comments are welcome.

The 4th Mass. are increadible. Their stats alone don't seem like much but they pack a punch when it comes down to it.
