View Full Version : Another bridge and two portals

A few weeks ago I builded a wooden bridge, because here in Germany you canīt get the forgotten forest set anymore. So I had to help myself.
The bridge is designed to fit into the heroscape tiles, so you donīt have to put it onto them.
This construction is a bit more complex, thatīs why I made a mold of the bridge to make copies from resin.
Here are some pictures of the bridge (the photos arenīt perfect):

Then I had the idea of portals, which allow you to move over the whole map in one round (the rules are not ready yet). This is a first try and itīs also cast from resin. But the mold is not optimal and I think, I have to make another one.

And this is the first picture of another portal, which isn`t ready yet:

Welcome Gidian. Nice job on the bridge. The portals are really cool too. If you want the road set I am sure you can get it from House Mouse Games. She does I believe ship overseas. :D Again, nice job on the bridge.

Youīre right, they ship to Germany but itīs quite expensive for us to order from the USA. All the fees and the shipping costs would at least double the price. :(

Very nice work. The bridge has an incredible look to it. Does it actually slide down over the end of the tile as opposed to sitting on top of it?
I like the idea of teleportation for large maps and those portals add a nice flair for it as opposed to just laying a colored hex down. Are they going to have any affect on LOS?

Nice bridge. It looks like one of those old rickety bridges that I wouldn't step foot on. I like it very much.

No, the bridge does not slide down. The last planks on the left and on the right hold the bridge, as you can see on the second picture.

To be honest, I donīt know what LOS means. ;) Is it the "line of sigth"?
Good question, but I would say yes. In the middle of the portal, I want glue a print that looks like the watereffect from stargate. And I would say you canīt look through it.
The other rules for the portal I want to keep quite easy. If you have 4 Portals on the battlefield, you have to roll a 20 die:
1-4: You appear at portal 1
5-8: portal 2
9-12: portal 3
13-16: portal 4
17-20: Your character is lost in the mystic space, that connects the portals.

1. I like the bridge a lot.
2. At first glimplse, I thought the two ends of the bridge actually attached (Heroscape-style) to the map. I thought maybe you had cut a single-hex piece in half to make the two ends. I wonder if anyone has done it that way?
3. The portals are a great idea, especially since you plan on using the D20 to determine how they work. I especially like the possibility of permanently vanishing into the "mystic space".

I like the idea, but I think only on a 20 you should get lost. 20% chance of disappearing and I'd avoid the portals all together.
Very cool terrain, though, thanks for sharing!

It looks like he has done it the same way I have, by fitting a piece between the colored portion on the hexes.

Seriously $E stop doing the Aldin thing. He came up with it and you are just copying him. That's not cool.

Come on! He's just having some fun. Menchy did it a while ago, and I think its nice to have someone else do it when he's not around.

Actually, it should be on a roll of 1. In the Heroscape world, bad things happen on low rolls and good things on high rolls. This is so the Glyph of Lodin helps you avoid the bad stuff and helps you get the good stuff.

Yes, to make the ends, I cut a single-hex piece, but not in two halfs. I just used two edges to make the bridge fit to the hs-pieces. Than I glued the bridge between them and added some greenstuff. A plank on the top avoids the bridge from sliding down.

You are right, 20% might be to much. You could also use just three portals:
1-2: you are lost in the mystic space
3-8: portal 1
9-14: portal 2
15-20: portal 3

I think the portal should have a removable "water effect like stargate" thing for when the portal is activated...this way LOS thru the portal is achieved when it is not active
Now on a side note...if you fire a ranged weapon into an active portal it will need to come out somewhere else...a random die roll depending on how many portals are being used could determine that
in regards to the "getting lost"...it should be "lost" for a turn and not indefinitely
