I have the sketchbook (free little mini-comic, no text, just pics). I have the promo lobby card, I have the Marvel Spotlight with the write up about the series and I'm scheduled to get the series from my local comic shop. I'll get the hardcover when it comes out and sell off the rest at that time. 'Sall good!

Peter David, one of the writers, is coming to Maine to do some signings the day it's released I believe. I'm not sure if Stephen King will be there. I'm sure he'll pop up sometime to promote it.

I gave up comics years ago when I had way too many on the pull list at my local comic shop.
But for Stephen King, I'll have to fall off the wagon again and find a new comic shop to sign up for these!

I love the Dark Tower, (as well as everthing else that SK has written.)
In fact, I've been thinking of trying to do customs of Roland's Ka-Tet.
The toughest figure to find would be one for Suzannah. There is a Nakita figure that'll work perfectly for her, just chop off her legs, but she'll need some wheels.
(Does anyone know of any fig in a wheechair? What about an ATV for her, like in the Song of Susannah?)

Thanks for spreading the news, Skyknight,
I am sure there are more DT fans here.

I am a huge King fan as well and I am really excited about this. Roland is probably my favorite hero ever!

Yeah. This will be the first comic book I've ever bought. Seriously. Well, aside from a few graphic novels.

The pictures from Roland's dad walking in on him the morning after are awesome, as are the pictures from the battle with him and Cort. Wow... it all looks good. Alain looks a little dumpier than I imagined, but oh well. It looks awesome. I watched the trailer like 18 times when I first found it, it looks so good. And thanks to Ninthdoc, I was able to get my hands on one of the sketchbooks.

Originally, I thought the comics were supposed to start after Mejis and end at Tull, but it looks like they're going back a little bit further, which is ok by me. Can't wait to see the showdown between Depape, Renyolds, Jonas, Will Deerborne and company at the Traveler's Rest. One of the coolest things ever. I love that part.

Officially excited about this. It releases in 2 days.

Most specialty comic book shops will have them for free. You may want to pick up Marvel Spotlight as well.

Marvel Spotlight will set you back $2.99, but there appears to be lots of interviews and background info about the comic.

Havokscry, have you read it already, it's next on my stack. I keep a stack above the john for those quiet moments. This is a separate stack from the one that I have for the purpose of reading to my son. The stack over the john are ones that are too mature for him.

I did see there are some great preview panels of the series in the Marvel Spotlight. Issue one is supposed to ship to specialty shops next week.

This one isn't quite all new material, it will be re-covering and filling out some of the events from Wizard and Glass. The future series will supposedly be new events.

Here's a couple links from Newsarama for those interested:

Edited for clarification and links.

SWEET!!!!! I love his Dark Tower series, I can't wait!Don't wait! It's out now...as in Today, Feb. 7th!

I didn't reserve one, andin fact I don't currently have a local comic shop, so I'm gonna be scrambling trying to get the first issue myself.

I'll definitely be picking this up.

Some people complained about Wizard and Glass and how it took such a long detour into the past, but it was one of my favorite DT books.

Getting a chance to see how Roland became the hardened man he is was great and I'm glad to see this is what this series will focus on.

I was getting a little concerned this was not coming out, since it seems like so long ago since I read about the project.

I don't read many comics, but have been anticipating this one...going to try and find it today after work. Robin Furth is also a writer for this series, and I believe this will be great given the exhaustive work she did with the two Concordance book's

...one of my favorites as well.

To further what was said about this first mini series mainly dealing w/Wizard and Glass: according to the interview w/Robin Furth in this month's Marvel Spotlight, it appears they have 30 issues planned at this time: 5 for WaG, 7 more for another segment, and 18 with totally original material, if I read the article correctly.

If you can find this Marvel Spotlight, I'd highly recommend reading it.

I saw DT #1 on the shelf today. I didn't buy it yet, I have a sub order at my local shop. I'll get it this weekend. :D

All I can say is wow! What a beautifully illustrated and written book. Jae Lee has outdone himself. I've never read the Dark Tower series so I went into this totally unbiased. It's off to an amazing start.

I highly recommend to the people who want to pick this up and the Marvel Spotlight which came out a few weeks back to do so soon. This is probably bigger than the Civil War storyline in terms of popularity. You shouldn't have trouble finding Dark Tower #1, but the Spotlight may be pretty scarce at this point.

Yeah, I was really impressed with the DT #1 Comic. My only gripe, and I don't know if I'm offbase with this, or not, since I'm not a comic fan, but it seemed really short. Is that average length for a comic book?

The extra stuff at the end with Vanay was a nice addition and introduction into Mid-World, the beams, and the Tower. I can't wait for the next issue.

Yeah, unfortunately that's about the length. That's why many like to wait until it is collected in trade form.

Anyone pick up the 2nd book? I like the added story of the old ones at the end, pretty interesting. I didn't realize that the Crimson King was actually a were-spider, or was that something that Robin Furth just added in?. The only thing really connecting him with spiders in the novels was the flash back King has with Roland and Eddie about him at his uncle's farm and the spiders, and King referring the Crimson King as the Lord of the Spiders. Well, and that Mordred's a were-spider, but I figured that was just the Prim side of him coming out. Cool art for the Crimson King, though. I actually thought that was going to be Rhea of the Coos when I saw the art in end of the first issue. They really didn't make Rhea seem very scary at all, though. I'm sure she'll look really wretched once the Grapefruit's glam gets her.

Pretty to look at so far, though. Just wish that more happened in each issue. The way it's going, I don't think we're going to see much new stuff in the actual comic end of the books. The added stories are pretty nice, though.
