This is my first post, so sorry. I have seen people say that they don't like the idea of marvelscape because it's said to take away from the origonal game. Well the way I see this is if anyone has made a custom of any sort it takes away the origonal premise of the game. If you say that you don't like marvelscape and haven't made any customs then I don't have a problem, but if you made a custom then I think you really should have no right to say you're going to quit playing heroscape. I like marvel scape and I love some of the customs that you guys have made.
Now I just want you to know this is just an opion, and if you feel like saying anything bad about it go ahead I'm not going to respon to it, but I will read it.

I have read very few people saying that they were no longer going to play HS because of Marvel Scape.
By the way, if you would like an example of the kind of first post that makes people around here really giddy, take a gander at THIS (http://heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=6006). This is a person who is well articulated and adds to the community simply by the thoughtfulness put into their post.
Welcome aboard.

To bad I'm not nine or ten. I would have made a better topic if I had something to say. I just noticed those one or two people who said that, so I just had to get it off my chest.

What!?!?
They're making a Marvel Heroscape!?!?
I Quit :!:
All right, JK, of course.
I originally didn't want to see licensed HS versions, but that doesn't make me a Marvel Hater!
I love Marvel. And I do trust the designers to make a good product.
With the strength of the HS fan base behind it now, I don't think we're in any danger of HS becoming "diluted."
Oh, and Welcome to Heroscapers, Trav1111 :!:

Then why make a thread at all, if you have nothing to say?
And that thread wasn't nice because it was written by a 9 year old, but because it was written well.

Welcome to the boards, Trav11111!
On behalf of our Marvelscape anticipating and customs creating community I extend to you a laurel and a hearty handshake.
As far as I can tell, most here are pretty excited about the prospect of more 'Scape. Feel free to join into any of the several threads we have at this site eagerly awaiting the superheroic release date.

Opion Orion (ΟΡΙΟΝ in Greek) is a Greek television channel broadcasting out of Thessaloniki.
It was previewsly owned by Vasilis Christidis, who was imprisoned after a scandal broke out including allegations of fraud, also evolving vice minister Adam Regouzas, a member of the government in 2006.
Sorry, I had to.. Ok, on the real, if someone doesn't like it, that is their opinion. Some people make customs to have something to paint, create or add a "missing link," if you will. ya know? I am waiting ever so anxiously for marvelscape.

No, because it was written well by a 9 year old. Otherwise no one would have cared.
Ok on topic, it should be noted that if you are a person who hates MarvelScape. Don't buy it. Don't waste your time. Don't waste other peoples time who are going to like it.
It's ok to bash something though, but not to bash someone for liking something. Which seems to happen around here, and usually not about MarvelScape either. Everyone thinks they are so smart so they make smart comments if someone makes a simple mistake, just like what I said to Cavalier at the beginning of this post. So I guess I'll be quiet now, but it is true. Its really only a point that I'm making, some kind of irony... *shrug*

I myself was against bringing licensed material into Heroscape, but have no problem with Marvelscape. Why? 'Cause they're keeping it seperate! More 'Scape = a good thing, and keeping Marvel out of my standard 'Scape products also = a good thing. Eveyone wins.

I am one of those who do not like the Marvelscape idea and a custom creator. Heres the deal...I do not like it since it simply takes some of the focus away from the game I enjoy so much. Pure and simple. But I do not remember anyone saying they were gonna walk.

Ya, I wanted to say opion, but I guess opinion works too. Thanks I knew it was wrong when I typed it, oh well.

When Marvel comes out I plan on dropping Classic HS like a hot potato. Well, except for terrain expansions.

I doubt he's serious, but if he is, I suspect that the fan community's ability to combine HS into MS is going to make his "dropping" of it meaningless, since he'll want to try out his heros versus a zombie hoarde, or a demonic invasion, etc.

Was that post really written by a 9 year old?
And as long as marvelscape and any future scapes (listen to the podcast) are treated seperately, I'm ok with them. But the second the original game starts to suffer due to the liscensed games getting too much attention is the day I go hardcore against it. Right now I'd like to say that Hasbro has the benefit of the doubt.

But isn't that going to be based on your perception? What criteria would you use to measure how much of a negative impact any other 'scape version has on Heroscape? If it became more popular than the original? If there was one less wave created per year? If Heroscapers.com loses membership? How would you distinguish those events from ones that would've happened anyway?
My point is... don't be that guy.

I would judge that by a decrease in expansions or focus. I wouldn't use this site as my measuring stick. Don't mistake me for the guy that will quit and walk away. I'll continue to buy anything and everything for the core game until it dies. I may or may not buy the other brands.

I've actually had the exact opposite reaction. I'm getting into Classic HS because Marvel is coming out, and I'll likely move heaven and Earth to merge the two groups of characters for added madness if it comes to that. I love the sheer randomness of the unit choices in this game. What other game lets you put Scottsmen and Elves against Mechas, or pairs up laser-toting-gorillas with a trio of lady agents? And adding the Marvel-ites to it just makes sense to my warped imagination.

I may not drop Classic HS entirely, but I plan on getting 100% of the Marvel releases and since I'm not wealthy, somethings got to give.
I feel what I already have of the "Classic" is plenty enough to sustain it's playability without buying any more expansions (I have: MS, RTTFF, Castle, Knights and Minute Men)

I must say, one of the reasons why I picked up this game was that it seemed to replicate what my brother and I used to do 20-25 years ago: We would create large battles using various figures thrown together from a diverse range of toys (e.g. He-man, GI Joe, D&D miniatures, Legos, Star Wars figures, etc).
The addition of Marvelscape will be eagerly anticipated by myself. Despite the indicated incompatibility of Heroscape and Marvelscape, I will probably attempt to integrate the two systems.

Welcome lurking gamer.
Hey I'm glad no one really started flaming this thread. I would also like to say I'm sorry if it seemed that I wanted to start something. I can see that all you guys are cool, and I can see this is a good forum to belong to with a lot of good people.
One thing that suprises me is that this thread has been up for as long as it has.
From what I can see is that there is nobody who really hates Marvelscape, some dislike the idea or reason for it, but no one hates it.
Thank you.

the real qustion is how long will marvelscape last if they don't listen to the comic fans for characters that are wanted?

Will Marvelscape and Heroscape's expansions stagger each other, so that the community as a whole can look forward to something new in 'scape every 6-8 weeks? That would be the kind of ultra-cool not seen since Orm mentioned something 'bout coming back for a visit.

The only reason I own heroscape at all is because originally, I wanted the terrain for Marvel/DC heroclix. The ONLY reason I bought the castle set was for Doom. If it wasn't for its verstaility, I would have had little or no interest in Heroscape. Now, I am buying expansions and terrain specifically to expand Maverlscape. So, Marvel may actually help the sales of Heroscape.
The Heroscape characters and universe are starting to grow on me, but originally, that had nothing to do with my interest in the game (they were just a bunch of generic looking characters I didn't know). I was more impressed that some of the characters looked familiar, like characters from Matrix and Men in Black, and the possibility of mixing them with marvel heroclix characters got me excited. Today, I still want to buy expansions with Heroscape's cool looking "generic" characters to pit against Marvel characters. But make no mistake about it, I buy Heroscape because of Marvel. I am likely to buy more Heroscape because of Marvelscape.

Argos, if you want to feel for the characters, I suggest you go to the Fan-Fic section. deathsaurx has some kickin' stuff there, and, not to too my own horn, I do too.
I'm going to feel bad once I stop writing about it...
