There's a fair amount of graphic violence in these games.
Viewer discrection advised:

Zombie Survival (http://www.thatvideogamesite.com/play.php?id=44)
A side-scrolling type of game, minus the scrollling. Creepy atmosphere and pretty tough. You get only one life. The sound affects work on your nerves the best: the grunts of the female zombies and the sound of your own heartbeat as you lose life.
A bit difficult as the rising undead show up anywhere along the length of your battleground. A lengthy sets of intros to wait through for each game makes it tedious.
Zombie Survival (full game?) (http://www.allgamesallfree.net/index.php?id=play&gid=355) Love the character you control. Looks like one of the gasmask-wearing henchmen from Bashki's Wizards!
I just found this game tonight.
BoxHeads The Rooms (http://www.allgamesallfree.net/index.php?id=play&gid=348)
Top-down view of this game. Characters resemble lego men. Lots of weapons to choose from. I believe your goal is to just kill zombies...endlessly. Try to get best score before the undead feast on you.
Fun to set up barrels for barricades and as reprieves before heading in to blast away some more.
Another version of the above game. Link provided by Alistair MacDirk
BoxHeads: More Rooms (http://www.allgamesallfree.net/games372-boxhead-more-rooms.html)
Alistair MacDirk found this one:
Endless Zombie Rampage (http://www.crazymonkeygames.com/Endless-Zombie-Rampage.html)

Velenne's excellent discoveries:
De-Animator (http://www.de-animator.com/)
The Last Stand (http://www.armorgames.com/games/thelaststand_popup.html)

Autumn War (http://www.crazymonkeygames.com/Autumn-War.html) Autumn War seems a bit clunky to me.
Zombie Romp (http://www.teagames.com/games/zombieromp/play.php) Interesting graphics. The flying bats really annoy!!!
Zombie 4 (http://www.arcadetown.com/zombie4/gameonline.asp)
Nice POV down on city buildings, but otherwise you're purple dots (humans) running around and shooting green dots (zombies).
Zombie Horde 3 (http://www.crazymonkeygames.com/Zombie-Horde-3.html)
I like this one. Another top-down oriented game.

All Hallow's Eve (http://www.gamesbob.com/allhollowseve)
Odd little game. The approaching zombies remind me of Mr. Bill and their
"Brains...hungry" speech is silly.

Rotting Onslaught (http://www.freeworldgroup.com/games2/gameindex/rottingonslaught.htm)
Eh...

Zombie Shooter (http://www.freeworldgroup.com/games2/gameindex/rottingonslaught.htm)
Try to kill as many zombies as you can in 30 seconds.
Errrr, "Here lies....Homeslice?"

Zombie Terror (http://www.mofunzone.com/online_games/zombie_terror.shtml#)
Plays like a cross between Castlevania and Indiana Jones.
Side-scrolling game that takes half a dozen screen scrolling before a zombie is discovered. Funny to die on the spikes!

Wait for the Monkey games logo to fade out.
It's on the screen that states BoxHead the rooms.
smack dab in the middle, white letters against black background

Give it a try. It's pretty durned fun for what it is.

Pretty fun for a time waster! Liked boxheads better - a bit more strategy involved, and you can play quite a bit longer.

Liked setting up barrel barricades and lobbing grenades into the resulting horde! Blast!

I've had ZombieSurvival for a few months now. Just today I got my farthest ever on the game.

The longer you last in the game, the faster the undead become.

Just download Metal Slug 3.
Is that where Zombiesurvival characters are from?
Need a convenient link as well...

I took my son to see Night in the Museum and we played a Metal Slug game (6?). I enjoyed it a lot, but kept thinking it was called Metal Gear or Metal Solid.

I'd love to download Metal Slug. I'm currently searching around...Let me know ZG!

Fun stuff.

The character in Survival actually looks like Hunk from the Resident Evil games. In fact, some of the music and sounds for Survival were taken directly from that game.

Boxhead is more fun though. It wears you down as you keep gunning down the hordes and they keep coming.

That is fun! Reflex Boost is a cool weapon and it was sweet to obtain that nuke-type weapon when things were geting hairy.

Reflexive also did a Arkanoid-type game I really enjoyed. The name escapes me right now.

Thanks ZG

Here's a link to a side-view zombie hunt I originally found in the game forums of Yog-sothoth.com, a Call of Cthulhu RPG gamesite:

Here. (http://artscool.cfa.cmu.edu/~lee/deanimator.html)

It's *very* loosely based on HPL's "Herbert West: Re-animator" serial.

Some tips from the thread....

If people are still playing this, as I am, I thought I might as well post the tricks and hints I've found.

The following was posted by "Spencer" somewhere:

Quote:

Here are some things that might be useful to others, if they haven't already figured them out for themselves:

Zombies die after only one shot whenever they are on the ground, not merely when they are rising from the grave.

You can blow the legs out from under a standing lesser zombie and kill him in two shots, no matter what stage you are on.

You can safely reload the shotgun at the end of each level: As soon as you kill the last zombie, switch as fast as you can to the shotgun and shoot your last shot. If you're fast, you will reload your shotgun in complete safety, under the "Click here to continue" words. Wait until your shotgun has completely loaded, then continue with your fresh shotgun.

It may sound obvious, but if you minimize the number of shots you take to kill a zombie, you will inflict more deaths with the same number of bullets, and you will reload less often.

So one strategy on the highest levels is to use the pistol on rising zombies (one bullet) and whenever possible to trip and kill lesser zombies (two bullets).

In the rare event that you're facing a solid horde of big zombies that take four or more shots each, and you absolutely cannot kill them all in time with the pistol, then switch to the shotgun! If any new zombies arise while you are using the shotgun, switch to the pistol to take them out, then switch back to the shotgun. Save the skinny ones for your pistol. When the shotgun is out, you may or may not have time to reload it.

Keep looking for the rare opportunity to reload. When you get a moment to reload the shotgun, that probably means a wave of zombies is just off screen, so you'll be glad you did.

The shotgun is a weapon of last resort, so don't use it injudiciously, or you might find it empty you really need it. But don't ignore it either: it can save your life about once per level.

And I can personally add that I found there was a bug at the screen where you are shown the Stage number, if you click the mouse there you will start the next stage with a bullet already fired. By clicking 6 times before the stage, you can therefor start with an empty magazine...

Also, if you shoot the skinniest zombies in the head (thereby making it fall of), the next shot will kill it, no matter what level. The same goes for the zombies with the exposed ribs, their weak point is the arm which falls off if you shoot it.

And as far as I can tell, there is no "final" stage, using the very lame and cheap tab-space-technique for killing the zombies I got to level 32 with no signs of change, except that the smallest zombies required five or six shots (unless firing upon a weak spot).

Not that it's all that difficult. But I love the weapons, and how you have survivors to help you fight. And there are a LOT of different zombies! Fun stuff, truly. Good find!

Wow what a satisfying game! I must say, that now I'm at 4pm of the second day, I've bought everything and keep spending all my points on more health and base protection. I'm making about 12k XP per level. How far does this thing go??

This one is pretty fun, until you get Speed Loading, Laser Cannon and Overkill, I don't think you can lose at that point.

The first level after I had Laser Cannon and Overkill I got 50K EXP and put my base up to 5000HP and gave me 2000HP the level after that I have 80K EXP. Then I quit cause it was boring.

Dead & Alive
http://images.boardgamegeek.com/images/pic211967_t.jpg
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/29565

Browsing the print n play list at BGG, I came across Dead & Alive.
Dead & Alive is a bare minimum, solitaire, zombie game.
Download the directions, chart, and map, get a pencil and 2 D6, and you're ready to roll.

Each game is played on a 12 x 12 squares grid. As you enter a square, roll 2 D6 for the type of building and 2D6 again discover what's inside. This could be items, weapons, survivors (to get one or two survivors, you're in great shape as they help fight the hordes), or anywhere from 1-4 zombies. To fight a zombie roll 1D6. A 6 is a kill. Weapons can modify rolls, but beware that dreaded 1 as it means you're out of ammo. It's very difficult to get through a game as the zombies whup butt if your dice rolls are unlucky.

There is a one scenario-based variation which is much more fun to play. In this version, you have to search and rescue your brother. The scenario makes better use of the 12x12 square grid.

Enjoy!

* there is a cyberboard version, but I can't figure out how to make it work on my MacBook Pro. :?

This one is fantastic too!
What's the best way to initially spend hour points? I've tried spreading them out on barricade, weapons search, and survivors, but it wasn't to my advantage. Think I need to go all out on weapons.
