I just had to hijack this interesting photo from BGG. It's from Kublacon 2006. It's nice to see all of the "little kids" playing a kid's game, hehehehehe.....

Playing on that table would drive me absolutely bonkers. Unprotected cards near fries and drinks, mis-management of dice, and *UGH* Tootsie Rolls!

J/K, especially if this is Reaper's crowd!

I just gotta know ... How the heck did someone get directly above the table???

I like the map on the left. The "Throwing Star of Death?"

That's a great line about Jotun.

Yes, this was 1 of the HS demo tables at Kublacon I ran.
Yes, the table has lots of stuff on it. You want to try to make dictates about who can bring what food and drink to a table when it's in the open Grand Foyer, and is intended to be welcoming and for everyone to try out the game? It is understndably a chaotic environment, especially with needing to have groups of cards & figs laid out so that the people can see what is available to play well together.

The candy was a great suggestion by our wives, I thought, to make the gameplay even more welcoming to families and kids....... and there was a lot more than those Tootsie Rolls earlier in the day. :)

The pic would have been taken from one of the higher floors. That's the Grand Foyer, and the hotel rises up around that end of the room about 25 floors up, with halls with rails people cuold lean over at every height to snap down on the picture.

That was a great map called The LAst Wellspring.
We specifically made a 3-person free-4-all map since the gals said the gameplay was even more fun with 3 people (no quarters  ) - it worked out pretty good, I even put the Mage Knight Wellspring figure in the top of the mini-mountain.

:D

Sorry, couldn't resist. Great looking maps. Overall how many people demoed the game (rough estimate?)

It doesn't detract from the fact that I'd go bonkers playing on that table and besides, why should I worry? It's not my Heroscape stuff!

hi all,

it was a bit daunting to see the food and drinks near the cards and maps, especially since the newer cards are thinner and less sturdy than the OG master set cards...

at home we just laminate the frequently used cards, i don't know if anyone noticed it during the tourny but we had them sealed to protect them against heated-in-the-spur-of-the-moment spilling of drinks (usually beer or soda) during our emphatic battles. we have not laminated jotun's wave though.

since heroscape was supposed to be more of a playable game, as opposed to a collectible game, we didn't think it would harm the value of the cards by laminating them (we don't intend to sell any of the cards we play with anyways)

the laminator is made by GBC as are the sleeves (an 11" x 8.5" covers three cards) and everything is sold at Staples.com (or in the store). costs $75 for machine and supplies to laminate to your heart's content.

Thanks for the info on the laminator, pitboss. Even though the game is not collectible, it's nice to protect the pieces for future generations. :D

Contact paper is my shield of choice on all of my cards. It's quick and cheap.....
