I was fortunate to get an Ipod for my bday recently, and have already started moving music from my CD's to my Ipod.

Also I have already subscribed to the best podcast around...

"SCAPETALK"

Heres a link the most recent one with RevDyer:

But I was wondering...

Does anyone know of good places to download music???

If so please post them here.

I'm jonesin' for some new music.

Thanks,

ODB :odb:

I wouldn't touch Lime Wire with a ten foot pole. You might think it's safe, and you might not get a virus out-right, but you will get one and it will screw your pc up. :2cents:

Viruses do not currently spread via mp3 files. However, if you use Limewire to download other types of stuff you run a risk and if you aren't very tech savvy you can easily be tricked into running other types of files (song.mp3.scr, song.mp3.pif, and song.mp3.exe are three examples and it's especially bad if your OS is set to hide file extensions) in which case, yeah, there is a pretty substantial virus risk.

Use the OLD version of winmx. (DO NOT use the NEW version) It is free and has no spyware. You need a patch called mxpie. DO NOT use limewire, you are asking for trouble.

Search the net for"mxpie" and you should be able to get what you need. Whatever you do, make sure you learn what files are good do download. Do your research on file sharing because all it takes is one bad download and your computer will definately die someday.

P2P file sharing is lame. WinMx, Limewire, Kazaa, Napster, etc all suck.

I don't download music, but if I did, I certainly wouldn't use any of those. I have heard good things about BitTorrent and DC++

Also, I don't think that its exactly wise to post on a public forum that you download music, mostly because unless you are paying for it, its illegal.

Limewire.

I've never had a virus, Malware, Adware, Trojan you name it in well over 2,000 MP3 & MPEG d/loads.

If you're ignorant or stupid enough to not know what you're downloading steer well clear.

Otherwise go ahead. At the end of the day it all boils down to PC knowledge.

This site is worth a visit:

http://www.garageband.com/

It is full of songs that are free to download. The songs are not on the top "Pop" 40 of any radio station, but rather by very talented garage bands. The music is searchable by locale, genre, name, or influence. I have discovered some GREAT undiscovered talent here.
