I really like the idea of this army, it pretty much has all my favorite figs and should be powerful, I was just wondering what you guys thought. Yes.... I posted this in the K-Awa thread, but really it's not based around Awa and I really want to know what you guys think of it as an army, not an army for Awa.
Kaemon Awa 120
Izumi Samurai 60
Tagawa Samurai 120
AE 110
2x Deathreavers 80, or Thorgrim 80 (or some other 90 pts thing)
Total 490
Basically you hold out on the AE, First Tie the enemy up with the Rats, Or if your expecting a lot of squad kill Charge with Thorgrim and Kaemon, hoping to take out the big threat. Then start advancing with Samurai while they have cover. Then once the enemy's really tied up consider dropping the AE. Use Samurai to kill most of the enemy then The AE can finish them off.
I believe this will be semi-sturdy. I have always had the best experience with the AE when the majority of the enemy’s army is dead. Usually I'm almost dead (their close but have a pretty good chance to win) then they drop and I clean up. With the Samurai's high defense they should be able to hold out and wait for the AE in the late game, and Kaemon and Tagawa should have been able to clean up pretty good while waiting (Ninjas are also some one to look to as they have powerful attack and staying power, though weaker against SA (which you will probably be playing a lot of) Braxas scares me the most with this Army.
Or drop TS for KS and Eld (though that kind of goes against the high defense I was wanting.

your putting a lot of faith in this one. Your gunna need a big help from your AE and from the rats since kamon awa is you only other range. But I think if you play it right then this army could be very dangerous. I bet i could take it though. 8)

Looks pretty good. Personally, I'd drop either set of samurai (probably Izumi), and find room for some ranged guys. I'd probably stick with the rats though....they're especially good with the AE and samurai. I guess my main concern would be with the timing of the AE. The more and more I play with (and against) them, I find their drop timing to be inconsistent (if ever). If you wanted the army to be good over and over again, I think you'd have to be less picky about the drop time and just accept them down whenever it happens.

Hey, thanks for the input.
You caught me on the AE. I have played with a friend once and they didn't drop for him  . I guess turn one would be the only bad turn for them, though it matters most what kind of army I'm playing. Maby I'd hold out for the first round and set the reavers up, then let them come when they come.
As for the 70 points.... most ranged squads are more expensive or common
I think my best options would be...
70pts: Zettian, 4th Mas
130pts: 2x T Archer samurai, Krav + Guilty or Eld, or Nakita.
They just don't seem that strong to me though(well I'm a little tired of Krav, they've really let me down the last few times I played). We'll see (once I get wave 6  )

I could playtest it for you if you would like. I like this army so it wouldn't burden me.

That would be sweet Su-Bak-Na, if you get around to it I'd be very interested to hear how it did. I'm worried that the uniqe squads will weaken too much from deaths but hey we'll see. I'm really just glad they made an Einar hero that looks like he can compete.

I say drop the Deathreavers and go for some ranged units. However that also depends on the terrain you are playing.

I would drop deathreavers, and add raelin, 6-7 defense on all nearby samurai, can you say counterstrike???

Okay I'll play test the army tomorrow, I'll post the results right after the battle.

An army I would use that is like yours only I moved a few people around is...
Kaemon Awa 120
AE 110
Tagwa samurai 120
Raelin 80
Tagawa Samurai Archers 65
total=495
All the samurai have counterstrike, and keeping raelin by them will give you 2 more defense which will really be deadly. You could replace tagawa archer for fourth mass, but I like that army above. One of my favorite setups is Raelin with the samurai. I would take Raelin with the samurai over Hamataro (sp?) anyday.

Ok I'm back with the results.
I used your army with the Deathreavers.
The army I was up against:
Ornak 100
Heavy gruts x2 140
Deathwalker 8000 130
Brunak 110
Total 480
(This army is also the one I submited to the Ornak army thread)
Well it was real close, it came down to DW 8000 against 1 Deathreaver and the undroped Airborne. The Reaver managed to stay alive just long enough for the Airborne to drop, quikly followed by DW 8000's demise.
THE SAMARAI WIN!!!!!!

Sweet, sounds interesting. Once I get the figs I'll really have to pit it and tweak it. What sounds like happened in this game is what I was worried about. If It wasn't so loaded with high defence units you couldn't utilize the AE to their fullest. With Raelin it'd be alot slower restricting movement and ordermarkers. And you'd have to sacrifice some of the more important units to make room for and decent ranged squad. The death reavers wont make room for anything the izumi couldn't.
Anyways, thanks for the report. I can't wait to pit it up againt others, though sadly Q9 would be the most painfull for it and it's used so often. Anyways Thanks, hope to see you around.

To tell you the truth Deathwalker 8000 and the Heavy Gruts are the only reason the other army survived so long. Brunak went down to the Deathreavers. :P

Wait, so what army did you use exactly, you said I used your army, but you never specified who was your. Sounds like a close match though. I need to get another set of deathreavers. 2x deathreavers is used in a lot of armies, I have never played with or against 2x deathreavers, so I don't know their true power. That is why I added Raelin in the army I posted above, maybe if I have played with the reavers more I would switch it up, but Raelin with the samurai I still think is amazing. Also, I think would do better than that army you played with deathreavers. You ahould try it out, use the army I posted againt that Ornak army and see how it fairs compared to the other one. But, as I said, I might just be saying this because I have never used/faced the power of two sets of deathreavers.

Ok I did it and the Samarai murdered. I only lost one Tagawa. My opponent wasn't using the Ornak army to it's fullest though, so it wasn't that great of a battle. Either way the army is powerful.
