I've just got started in Heroscape and like the Quests of Heroscape variant. I'm wondering if anyone has any comments or learnings for a Quests game? Here are a few of my ideas:
1. Incorporating scenario quests that all players have. I tried one scenario where both players had to retrieve a sword held by a non-player character, but also had their own card-driven quests as well. At first I made the end of the game hinge on finishing the scenario quest with any other quests just adding additional 'points'. I'm thinking that it should have stayed as 'finish a certain number of quests' instead.
2. Trying point totals as the 'end game' point instead of number of quests.
3. Which quests do you toss out or feel like aren't very good? Which are your favorites?
4. I made a house rule where any 'kill x' quest simply threw out the specific general name. Not sure if this would throw off the number of 'kill' quests a player would have as opposed the glyph and movement quests.
5. Any custom quest cards you've come up with?
6. Any additional rules you've come up with for Quest games (such as have to kill a certain number of opponent's points, etc...) than just the basic 'complete 3 quests'?
Thanks in advance.
