View Full Version : Why we won't get Wave 6 from Wal Mart

After checking and double checking 12 or so Wal Marts in the past two weeks I finally talked to someone tonight who knew what was going on. I asked about when they would be restocking the shelves and she said that would be when inventory is over. She said that would be after the first week of February. She said that they've even stopped receiving trucks as of one week before inventory. She admitted that there could be stock in the boxes in the back but they will not bring them out until after inventory is over. This Wal Mart, which was the second I went to tonight, didn't have any pallets out in the aisles for restock, however the first Wal Mart did. That being said, I have to assume that they only restock what they are out of but the boxes on the pallets where water guns, dolls and Star Wars figures so I'm not sure what that was all about. Maybe they are trying to fill in some of the empty shelves so that they can actually sell some product during the month of January.

That being said, I have given up my search for Wave 6 until February. I have no desire to continue the hunt. The previous post about buying all of the current stock so they would restock the shelves might hold weight. I assume that they will not restock if the shelves contain some sort of volume.

Hope this helps.

While I agree that this thread should be merged with one of the other myriad threads of the same theme, I disagree with the way that the thread's creator was treated.

It is not spam. Spam is defined as a frivolous or useless post or a post that is intended to direct the reader to some off-site advertisement. Sev, that was ThisOne's very first post on his very first day. I'd like to say you were a little hard on him, but that would not even begin to cover it.

You've been here about 2.5 months. You even managed to select a user name that is not without its share of baggage for this community, and yet we still let you hang out and haven't busted your chops. Settle down and quit getting up in everybody's grill.

You've got a lot of work ahead of you if you plan on giving this speech to everyone who mistreats a new member (see my post here: http://heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?p=173685#188351)

Back on topic: I too have given up hope. I hear talk from places that a lot of WMs actually have W6/MarvelScape on hand, but will not say when they will be on shelves. I have also been told that a ton of WM's are scheduled to open early next week; theoretically, new WM's=New stock. If i don't have W6 by Feb, i'm going to pay the extra $20 to buy from HMG

I noticed that after i hit submit. It's there now.

No, i didn't say you were wrong, but it seems to me that newer members here are jumping on fresh (for lack of better words) members for not searching. I am on your side 100% here, doc.

Hi, ThisOne

I know what you mean - I'm totally burnt out on the search too. Last week I decided to take a break and wait awhile before going back to the store. That lasted about 4 days lol. This is despite having already blown my wave 6 money. Lets see how many days you last before the impulse takes over muahaha.

Thanks for the info and welcome to Scapers.

This WM inventory thing must be a store-by-store thing. My WM put a full set of wave 6 on the shelf last week.

Right now, the majority of stores are doing a Modular reset not an inventory.

You even managed to select a user name that is not without its share of baggage for this community.

Yeah, I still can't see that name without, just for a second, going, 'what the **** is he still doing here'?

Then I read the post and remember that the old guy couldn't write to save his life.

Welcome ThisOne,

Don't worry about the minor hit on your first post. As I remember I kinda got called on one of my first posts for something or other. It's all good here. Don't take it personal.

I gave up on wave six too.....oh wait...that's right, I got it from House Mouse! (He said with a devilish snicker.) :D

I am ready to give up on Heros of Nostralund though. I refuse to pay outrageous ebay prices for it. It's just not that important.

Anyway thanks for the heads up on Wally world inventory. You just saved me a ton of gas.

Nothing good about it really. sev_07 was a member at the HQ. He was accused of things similar to what ultradoug was accused of. So when sev_ shows up all the old timers, especially those w/ties to D/FW are all, :wtf: . See? Nothing good at all in that story, except for the fact that he is now gone.

I was in a Wal-mart early this morning to buy some new jeans to wear to work... (long story)

Anyway, they were very busy in the toy section, unloading tons and tons of new boxes and putting new stuff on the shelves. I checked the game section, but they hadn't done it yet. I'll have to check back later...

In other news, I just dropped by one of the local Walmarts, and there was a full set of wave 6 and an empty display box from another one.

One of our local Wal-Marts (the one in Richland, WA) had just put out a full set of W6 as well.

I hate being broke. :(

Yeah, it's time to finally start looking again. I needed to pick up eggs so I stopped by Walmart and somehow ended up walking past the toy dept (which is funny since its in the back of the store) and there was a lone, empty Wave 6 box on the shelf...

Now they wouldn't bother to stock just one would they...?

back on topic (a topic which is spread across the forum in dozens of frustrated threads) -- i think a main reason for the wave 6 latency is that the release from Hasbro was just bad timing for the bigbox guys. just a bit too late for the Christmas crunch which is followed by a stocking freeze period for physical inventory. *i'm making this up as i go...*

Actually, you may not be that far off. I called my local TRU looking for Flagbearers and the guy on the phone said that they had not recieved a truck in a couple of weeks and that the one coming Tuesday was only going to be half full. This was due to inventory (which will be Thursday). After inventory the sales person on the phone said he didn't even know when regular shipments would start back up as the warehouses would be closed untill all their inventories were done as well.

I don't know if the guy was full of crap or not, but he seemed pretty sincere.

Bah, I've been PMed a lot since I've joined asking if I was sev_07, I'm not. Its good that the other guy wasn't very good at using the english language I guess, that way it distinguishes me from him. As for the ultradoug thing, I read VERY disturbing things about him and I'd much rather not be compared to him in ANY sort of way, thank you very much.

Maybe a mod can give me a title..."I'm not sev_07". I could always just remake a new account though. I think that might be for the better.

The part of the story that I left off was that the full set of wave 6 was still at Walmart when I left. Being broke sucks.

I guess I was one of the few lucky ones who managed to get wave 6 from Walmart in mid December. But I was only able to get two copies of the common packs. I'm sure more will be forthcoming once they've finished rearranging everything. I can wait since I haven't had much time to play lately. And I've only played the first three adventures of battlelore. I need to get my priorities straight!

I forgot to check wal-mart when I ran in to get some diapers (I leave it to the imagination who they were for), but they've had that tempting shelf space and Marvel Legends tag up for over a week...

haha.... well... um... The story's really not THAT interesting.

My wife is pregnant, and instead of getting morning sickness, she just gets really, really tired. So laundry tends to back up (since I'm totally incompetent at it). I woke up Monday morning and noticed that I had no pants.

I normally wear nice jeans to work, or, if I have to, casual slacks. I checked my closet and found no jeans.... or slacks. I checked the washer & dryer and found none there, either. In fact, I'm a bit baffled as to where all my jeans actually ARE right now... Anyway, all I could find was some older, ripped-up jeans - as in, big huge holes in the knees and a hole just above one of the back pockets. Lovely. I put them on and a big shirt that would hang over that hole in the back and hurried to Wal-mart.

I found a new pair of jeans, bought it, then stopped at Chick-fil-A to change (and get some breakfast - chicken biscuit = the yum).

My wife didn't notice when I came home wearing brand-new jeans, and she still hasn't noticed... but that's probably for the best! :)

Hi guys, I work at Wal*mart. Not in toys but pharmacy. I tried to get info on wave 6 and through talking with the dept manager and other management types, no one knows if it's already in the store or on it's way. I walk past there everyday to go to lunch and no changes yet. Just thought I'd shed some light as it is since WM signs my paycheck. By the way I think ninthdoc kicked my butt at Gencon. The name sounded familiar to me since I still relive my crushing losses due to my poor army building skills. Hopefully, I can rebound for 07's tournament. I plan on one victory. ( and not from having a bye round). I'll let everyone know if I get any better info on wave 6.

I'm helping out at a new Walmart that's scheduled to open on Friday, and they've got two cases of wave six set up on the shelf, just waiting for me to buy them on opening day. The store I normally work at still has a whole bunch of wave 5 sitting on the shelf, if I had to guess I'd say we probably won't get any wave 6 there until people buy enough of the wave 5 to trigger a re-order.
